The word 'nigger' is an extremely offensive term to refer to a black person. The slang, now a taboo, 'nigger in the woodpile' is used to refer to 'someone who causes an unexpected problem'.

Thanks for the update bro. You are right, I think not many people know cos I remembered there was a time when the blacks preferred to be called negroes rather than blacks. But honestly, I personally think they are the most sensitive races around and they get away with whatever demands they make. I mean use the word "nigger" in the states and you will be crucified. Actually, bros, the word "negro" is a Latin word for the color "black".

It just seemed derogatory to Native Africans & African Americans because the fucking Ang Mo slave traders during the colonial era all use the term "negro" for them.

I thought I would let this rest but purely for purpose of clarifying my thoughts on this matter I have the following to state:

- the preference over the use of the description "black" does not not makde the reference "negro" offensive

- Martin Luther King in his famous speech in 1963 "I have a dream" refer to his people as "negro". So was he offensive?

- Nelson Mandela in his concluding speech in his trial from 1963 to 1964 made no reference to the word "blacks". The words he used then were Europeans, Africans and natives. It was only in 1994 and in his inaugural that he used the words white and black africans.
