Heard this song performed live, immediately drawn to the power of this song! Everybody was also singing along, it was really awesome!!!

Yes, Sugarbeat's open at the same location. Never heard it was closed or moved though.

The live-band sets are:
1. 10-11pm (thai popular/slower songs)
2. 12-1am (thai hard-rock/faster songs)
Think there's 2 or 3 different bands. Correct me if I am wrong.

I also went to Hansa Paragon & Hollywood disco too. I still prefer Sugarbeat. The crowd in Sugarbeat (both Guys and Gals) are so friendly, and the gals, chio as well. So easy to strike up a conversation, if you know a bit of Thai. :)

SSL is very very strict. No matter how old you are, must bring PASSPORT (if you are foreigner) Even member also must.

Khon Thais have to bring ID card.

Thonglor apts, you got to ask Keet. He has a "hole" there once. Presumably its for his rest after a hard day out in the "sea". :D

Thailand no midnight charge, so wouldn't be too expensive. Around 80-100baht depending on traffic conditions. Thonglor happening is during the night. All the latest Thai Songs can be heard in these places.

Pubs/Clubs at Kaset-Nawamin Rd seems to be the preferred location for Thai Bands concerts nowadays judging from the entries at http://thaipoppers.com/live/index.shtml.
Eg: Gecko Club, Gotcha Pub, The Immortal, Seven Pub & Restaurant, Camp of Havana, Yes Indeed, Jungle Fever.

Brudders, what's the most convenient MRTA station to reach these pubs/clubs? Cos I wud like to attend Big Ass concert at Jungle Fever at Kaset-Nawamin Rd (on the 1st Oct) but I have no idea how to get there.

Try this site Thai MusicCurve (http://www.musiccurve.com/thai.html) (usually mp3 files)

or Thai Music, Thai Lyrics and Thai Songs (http://www.ethaimusic.com/) . This one stores the songs in Flash format (check your Internet Temp folder for songname with similar number to webpage. You can play in Explorer or flash player or do what I do. Use a SWF decompiler to convert to MP3.Quality not as good cos in mono format, but good enough for small portable MP3 players like a PDA.

another good movie that is out on DVD/VCD for a while is "bodyguard". the lead actor is the comedian that played the sidekick in "ong bak". worth watching. too bad it does not have english subtitles.
another funny movie but with english subtitles is "spicy beauty queen in bangkok". its about 4 katoeys who decide to rob a bank.

Low class production I would say for Sidekick. "Ong Bak" made a special cameo in the movie but it doesn't raise the standard of this slapstick movie

Teen rocker takes some time to talk about his band’s hit album

Did you Know : Zax collects Buddha amulets and he always has Phra Luang Nung Sukothai and Luang Poo Tuad with him.

The last few years have been busy ones for the teen rockers I-Zax. As each year has passed, the band has continued to grow from being just another small group struggling to make a name for themselves to the teen hit machine that we know today.

Their debut album, Khon Rak Kan (We Are in Love), in 2002 introduced I-Zax to music fans across Thailand. In 2003, the band increased their presence by taking part in the now-famous Little Rock Project, a compilation of young rock bands.

And now, I-Zax’s sophomore album, Jai Thueng Jai (Heart to Heart), proves that the band has finally made it. The single “Kean Jai Hai Phen Pleng (Write the Song from My Heart)” is a huge hit and is getting serious airplay on radio stations and music channels.

Student Weekly recently caught up with I-Zax’s lead singer Kumphol Panphum (Zax) to talk about his band’s hit album and the creativity that made it happen.

Student Weekly: Let’s start by comparing your debut album with Jai Thueng Jai. What are the big changes?

Zax: The fast tracks on Jai Thueng Jai are more powerful than the first album, while the slow tracks are more sentimental.

Student Weekly: Speaking of sentimental, why did you guys pick the song “Kean Jai Hai Phen Pleng” as the first single?

Zax: Our debut album, Khon Rak Kan, had a lot of slow parts. So does “Kean Jai Hai Phen Pleng.” It is a great way to ease our fans into the new album and let them know we’re back.

Student Weekly: Well, the song is a hit. Is that surprising for you, or did you expect it to be the big hit it is?

Zax: It was really a big surprise. We expected that listeners would like it, but we definitely didn’t expect it to be a hit like this.

Student Weekly: Let’s move on to the song “Pom Dum Tae Jon (Think Dark and Poor).” Is this song about anyone in particular?

Zax: No. We wrote this song while we were practising and touring with the first album. The song is basically a sarcastic take on girls’ dream guys, which is tall, dark and handsome. But the members of I-Zax are thin, dark and poor. It’s a teasing song, but done in a fun way.

Student Weekly: Speaking of looks, the band’s look seems to have changed for the new album. What’s going on with that?

Zax: The look on this album is more serious than the debut album, where we wanted to look like teen rockers. This time we’re going for a more grown-up look.

Student Weekly: Pirated CDs are a big problem for any band these days. What do you think about piracy?

Zax: I want to tell listeners that every song from every artist comes from our brains and determination. Before an album can be released to the fans, we work really hard to make it sound perfect. So please support legal CDs instead of the pirated versions.

I don't hate local products. Just that the 2 groups really have a gap in terms of class.

If want to compare, at least take Jacky Cheung and compare with Bird Thongchai. I am no fan of Bird, but at least I know he is a class act.

What is Ah Du? No disrespect to him but he really need to get his diction correct before he can even be in the class of jacky.

As for Parn Thanaporn, she is real damn good. You take Ella out from S.H.E and sing solo, how to compare?

Endorphine don't sound like Sun Yanzi. Sun Yanzi got her own style and Endorphine got hers.

A lot of Chinese songs are actually famous Thai Songs before the Chinese singers take go and sing again in Chinese.

Just like many Grasshopper songs in the past. At least the Grasshoppers made the songs look good.

And you can even see 5566 picking song (Jai Kor) out from Palapol and made a mess out of the song.

nothing beats "Ter ngai eng" by Hyper. it can be found in the Roo Hen Pen Jai album. song is exactly like what SC describe above. other examples are "Kon tung kon", "Lerk lah", "yahk geb ter wai tung song khun", "jai ter gaud krai", too many liao. :D

I totally agreed with u bro,

As all the chinese singers are regarded idols within our chinese community. But for thai singers in thailand, they are regarded as "SAINTS" within the thai community. If you have the chance to go to a famous thai singer concert in thailand, I will assure you that you will realise that it won't fall short of a concert by LINKIN PARK. I had went to the recent CLASH concert and the crowd was as crazy and fun like the international singers concert.

totally agree with u, im a Loso fan here. fall in love their style and music when i 1st started going to pattaya for bonking. the live band in the disco is always playing 'jai sung ma'. a damn big hit at that point of time and my all time favouite. i still like this song very much.

anyway, i stop going to thailand for bonking after i really fall in love with the country and culture. when i as backpacking Koh Samui, i got to know a few thai friends there, they told me that Loso is in Samui to promote their 'Red' alburm. so i follow them to a disco where they are performing live. Damn!! 'koey ruk chan bang mai' is the song man!! brings back the feeling when i 1st hear 'jai sung ma' in pattaya. everybody in the disco is singing along with that song. after i depart from samui to bkk, went straight to buy the 'red' CD. its really good. hence i agree with bro bk master on the amount of enegry in thai concert even is it is just in a small local disco. they just love their idol as much as our culture do.

by the way, any bros here know of Loso? i was told that there is a new alburm from them after the 'red' alburm. if there is, i think i will go golden mile to buy. hardly have time to go thailand now but planning in the mist for songkran trip next april!!!!.

Proong Nee is so meaningful. Always sang it to my tirak the night before I leave for SG again. Plus created a Home-made Karaoke VCD using our collection of Photos. Used a screensaver software and CAMATASIA studio to create an AVI movie before cutting as a VCD, together with the lyrics in Thai/transliteration. Bros can make such stuff for your tiraks too, and see how she gets touch by your efforts.

Sure, different songs mean different things to different people. I remember many years ago when I had my first tirak, it was in the late 80s and the #1 song then was 'Dai Yahng Sia Yahng' by Asanee Wasan. I remember then listening to it over and over again to transliterate it myself, and after that singing it over and over again until the next time I saw her I sang the song for her...

Memories... :)

Carabao Rocks! Their brand of music is known as Pleng Pua Chee Wit.....Carabao is to Thailand what U2 is to Ireland......many Thai musicians are influenced by Carabao.......they have an old song 'Vanneepok' about a blind old man which was covered by many other singers.

Yea, their brand of local Thai acoustic folkmusic (Plaeng Peua Chivit) combined with rock becomes "Saam Cha" I particularly like their recent Carabao Inter concert and album. its a compilation of favourites of which Wanipok (Vagabond) that you mentioned is on it. Can you advise where I can find romanised lyrics to their songs. would really appreciate it.

nowadays all the Cds from RS Records are in enhanced CD format. makes it more troublesome to burn. the pirated ones u buy from GM also same format. only good thing is that u get things like wallpaper and interviews with the band/singer.

to burn into audio u have to convert to MP3 first and then burn into audio again... one extra step and sound quality also suffer... but no choice. :(

Bro, Have u tried coding audio into AAC format (it is supposedly the rumoured MP4 format) its found on iTunes software, for the iPod ...I have been backing up my original cd collections and D/L , ripping tracks ( U guessed it, thats what i have been doing these past months, besides working)

I am gonna try it later, I have tried AAC coding from audio, I think for a similar bit rate ,AAC is better than MP3. Might try it later in the afternoon!!

for those keen to learn thai songs can go to GM and buy thai VCDs. i recommend buying those by GMM Grammy as they have english words so you can along. the latest is "best of 2004"... good for those who want to learn "chua far ding salai" by palapol.

those with some grasp of reading can by the RS vcds... good way of improving your reading skills...

Different people have different interpretations on the wordings and that 's why different interpretations will lead to misunderstandings...Let me try to be the mediator in analysing the arguments... In short, I kei bo a bit lah.... :D

In siamcutey's perspective, I have to say that he is not in the wrong since he wants the thread to keep up with the topic and he definitely support this thread since the beginning...

But then M.Romance is not wrong as well since all along in this thread, TCSS postings are common and has been started even in the first page.... Can check out in the first page and everyone should see that TCSS post has been on-going all along....

To me, making sure that the postings are relevant to the topic is a must but then TCSS also cannot be disgarded... An example will be "Thanks for sharing the link of this song"... I feel that this is considered as TCSS as well since the post doesn't include any sharing of links to Thai songs...

So, it's all a misunderstanding... Common lah... We are guys and not girls leh. Be gentlemen and shake hand lah....

Not being biased but sitting on the fence, I feel that both sides have their own points.

I have to go through 40+ pages in finding some songs that I'm looking for, but have to go through lots of TCSS first, meaning I have to spend more time searching. I may or may not get the song I'm searching for after this so-called tedious search.

TCSS is inevitable in a forum. Without it, what fun is there? However, we should try to keep it to a minimal in threads like this so that it will be kept as close as possible to its original purpose.

I think it's time to archive this thread to old international thread. The thread was created by bro kurupa since Oct 2003. I saw some posting that some samsters need to go through 40+ pages in finding some songs. Reason very tedious. If he is looking for old song, he should look beginning of the page. Every months, there are new albums released. Why not do housekeeping of the thread every 1/2 years or 1 years? Old information should be archived.

I personally subscribed to this thread and send instant notification to my email. I have never complained TCSS posting jam up my mailbox. I just ignored it and delete it from your mailbox. I think there is no need to get agitated over such small issues. Of course, we have to ensure the posting are relevant to the topic, a few posting of TCSS is fine. It can't be avoided. Moreover I have subscribed to many threads (100) but did not request to email me instantly. If I need to look for old information, it is much easy. I only read online that interest me If I have time. This is the only thread that I have requested to send email to me instantly.

If someone is targetting at my bro. I'm sorry, I will stand up to speak up for him. I see him nothing wrong TCSS this thread (Fav Thai Songs being translated). Archiving is good, but I would suggest that those postings introducing or discussing thai songs be kept as it is in this thread. Just delete away the tcss (including mine) & the number of pages would decrease. At least, it will be easier on the eyes.
