Travel from Ipoh to Malaysia-Thais border (2 1/2Hrs)

There are changes when 3 years back I was there.
All the chick joint had move to Hotel Grand View nearby.
This hotel offer 2 disco pub start open 1pm-9pm.

I would avoid Bentong and Sungai Golok for now. Have you heard of the bombing in Sungai Golok? here is the news from BBC website today:

A bomb blast outside a bar in southern Thailand has injured about 30 people.
Most of the injured - in Sungai Kolok, a town on the border with Malaysia - are said to be Thais and Malaysian tourists.

The motorcycle bomb exploded around 1930 (1230 GMT) near a karaoke bar popular with Malaysian tourists.

The area has been under martial law since an armed raid in January on an army camp sparked violence that left more than 50 people dead.


This is one of the most serious incidents, says the BBC's Kylie Morris - and a reminder that the problem has not been solved, despite a government reshuffle and the sacking of security officials.

The government says it plans to install closed circuit television in state buildings and other sensitive areas to halt the escalation in what it called urban terrorism.

The violence has been blamed on Islamist separatists in the south who the government fears may have combined forces with international networks.

Looks like hotel rates did not change much and it is always on the high side for the lower quality compared to hatyai.

which one is better hat yai or betong?... never went before betong... the FR make me gian lei :P... so for ipoh to betong is 2.5h... maybe take a plane to ipoh then take cab.... :P had to check with ah poh first... anybody going end of apr?... either betong or hatyai if my leave approved :)

Betong is maybe about the quarter size of Hatyai. You can practically walk the whole town in less than an hour. Anything further than that is not of tourist's interest.

It does have it's entertainments which is much smaller than those in Hatyai, although they have agogo bars (less than 5 in thw whole town) which are wilder than bkk but not as organised. Looks of the girls is subjective and alot of the customers are Malaysians Malays and now indians. The agogo bars closed by evening.

There's no sight seeing other than the "hot spring" where you go and see a large well with natural hot sulphuric water, maybe buy a basket of eggs to boil in it, take some pics.

Traditional massage parlours will closed by 9.00 pm, I do not think there's any body massage parlour. There are KTV bars which actually are "chicken farms" whereby you book the girls. They also close by 9.00 pm and those girls not being booked will FL at the night spots.

There are a few discotechques where you can TRY to pick up FL girls (normally the left overs) and restuarants where you hang flowers on the girls where the girls can also be booked.

Hotels are NOT cheaper than Hatyai because of the limited choices. You cannot compare Grand Plaza in Betong which is half the price of Grand Plaza in Hatyai. GP in Hatyai is 5 stars complete with swimming pool, etc. A 600 Baht hotel in Betong will cost about 500 Baht in Hatyai with the same standard.

You can go to Betong for the experience but not for long period. 2 nights should already bore you. I only stayed for a night each time I'm there.

The restuarant in Cathay Hotel is still there but there are only several girls singing. Now the most popular restuarant for the girls singing is actually the hotel up the slope going to Merlin Hotel. can't remember the name. Very much more girls. Flower tips goes from 100 baht and the girl will sit with you for a closer look and also to check out chemistry. booking goes from 1500 baht onwards for quite chio girls.

Ok Here goes my overdue report.

Reach KL on Wed nite (11 May), stayed over at one of my buddies' place then set off around 5am the next day. As usual we did plenty of TCSS along the scenic drive. One note of interest for those who drives, there;s a new highway that connects Kuala Kangsar to Gerik that is still under construction. Imagine how much time that will save.

Anyway back to the main story, reach the border, surprisingly, very nicely done up with covered parking lots. Met our agent, then we proceeded in his Thai registered car. All 3 of us didnt get our passport chop at the Thai immigration. Msia side have to chop. Cost = RM10 per pax. Hat Yai is free if u know the right people.

As usual, we always book at Merlin hotel (829 baht per nite + tax). 1st stop we got the numerous agents to send the gals up to our room for selection. Bear in mind, the agents make a little more extra so its better to view first, then ask which shop theyre from. Trust me, if its not a weekend, its better to go & pick the gals from the shop. Its cheaper.
Hate to do this but do avoid this chinese Thai agent, Ah Van. Though he knows us quite well, yet when he "open price" its like cow to the slaughter. Always quoting RM50 higher.

Anyway, I pick a rather dark-skin plumish gal coz she has huge melons for ST. Damage RM120 for 2 hrs. At the same time, I booked another fair skin gal for about RM230.

Several way to Betong.

1. Take bus (8 hours journey) or fly to Ipoh from JB Senai Airport, daily evening direct flight. Then take cab from Ipoh's Medan Kid (main coach terminal station), rate is around RM150 per cab.

2. Take bus (10 hours journey) or fly to Penang. Take cab from Penang to Pengkalan Hulu, Msia border town (only about 1 hour journey).

3. I do know there is a direct coach from Spore and KL to Betong sometime back, not sure if its still operating now. Its call Betong Express.

Have a safe trip. Was supposed to be there late Jul but my gal flew back to Phayao. Very safe.
Hotel recommended = Merlin Hotel. Ask the numerous cab drivers at the Thai immigration to take u there. As for PRC, just go to JOCKEY CLUB (nxt to Merlin hotel, mate) & ask for AH FOOK. He can recommend u some pretty good PRCs. Avoid the Thai pimps coz chances are, they'll take u to look for Thai gals.

By the way, just some information for any brother who wish to cheong Betong. I have been there twice for the month of nov to dec and will be back again before end of this year. The place is safe. The service of PRC and Thai MM is consider good at the price which we are paying for.

To be frank, sometime I do not really think it is worth to travel for so long distance and spend the type of money just to go Betong for fun. Money spend is around S$400 (everything) and distance travel is more than 1000 km for the whole trip. However, I should say is the MM services there that make me feel like going back. It is really a new type of enjoyment. Keyword is take your time to choose the right MM, and I guarantee you will want to go back once a month.... Hee Hee

Boats carrying 50 tourists capsize

At least five people drowned and thousands of residents have been forced out of their homes after heavy rains and flash floods swept through Nakhon Si Thammarat and other southern provinces. Rescue operations were launched yesterday to find 50 Thai and foreign tourists after three boats they were on capsized in Phuket and Krabi provinces.

Two Swedish tourists who drowned off Koh Phangan prompted Surat Thani authorities to cancel this month's full moon party to prevent other casualties.

In Nakhon Si Thammarat, two residents drowned on Thursday night and their bodies were swept away by the floods. The province was hit hard by three rounds of floods which have so far claimed 12 lives.

Pol Col Naris Sunthornroj, chief of Pak Phanang district police, said marine police were yesterday sent to rescue seven crewmen whose fishing vessel sank near Laem Talumpuk village, about two nautical miles off Pak Phanang shore. One crewman identified only as Tia, 30, drowned. His body has not been found.

Nakhon Si Thammarat Governor Vichom Thongsong yesterday declared the province a disaster zone as flash floods, triggered by heavy rains, ravaged 21 districts, affecting 173,300 people. So far, 4,012 flood-hit residents have been evacuated. The floods damaged over 1,800 roads, 37 bridges, 38 reservoirs, 27 schools and 24 temples. Over 90,000 rai of paddy fields and 55,329 rai of fruit orchards were damaged. Initial damage was estimated at 105 million baht, said Mr Vichom.

He told residents to brace themselves for possible mudslides. Several villages in Chian Yai district were cut off from the outside world as floodwaters reached 1-2 metres high. Vichit Maneelok, chief of Nakhon Si Thammarat disaster prevention and mitigation, said mudslides blocked a section of Khuan Nong Hong-Kapang road in Cha-uat district yesterday, making the road impassable.

In Trang, the floods have affected 4,000 residents, said governor Cherdphan na Songkhla, adding the flood situation was the worst in five years. Muang, Huai Yot and Na Yong districts were badly hit.

Water level in Trang and Palian rivers and Khlong Nang Noi canals are rising.

In Satun, heavy rains and high waves forced tour firms to cancel trips to the province. Several villages in Khuan Don district were inundated. Floodwaters in some areas rose to 120cm.

In Songkhla, 18 houses were hit by mudslides in Ban Mai village in Krasae Sin district yesterday. But there were no reports of deaths or injuries.

Deputy Prime Minister Visanu Krue-ngarm inspected flood-affected areas in Songkhla. He also attended a funeral rite of Sombun Thammawong and his son 12-year-old Burin who were trapped by mudslides. He provided 55,000 baht in financial assistance to the victims' family.

Floodwaters still remained high in Sathing Phra, Ra-not, Singha Nakhon and Krasae Sin districts.

Three boats carrying 50 Thai and foreign tourists capsized in Phuket and Krabi, prompting the Third Fleet to launch rescue operations to help them.

The first incident took place at 4.30pm. A speed boat run by Phangnga Eco-Tour Co, capsized at Hinmusang area between Phuket and Phangnga. The boat carried 20 Thai and foreign tourists.

Another boat travelling from Phi Phi island in Krabi sank in the same spot. Eight passengers jumped into the water.

On the same day, a third boat carrying 22 passengers sank in Laemtong in Krabi province. Marines and divers were searching for them.

In Surat Thani, provincial authorities cancelled the famous full-moon party of Koh Phangan yesterday after two foreign tourists drowned on Thursday.

Two tourists _ Maria Lindstrom, 21, a Swedish national and Viola Ossman, 22, also a Swedish national, were swept away by heavy currents.

I used to go to Yala once a week and to Betong once a month, driving by myself even during the "danger" period.

When the "danger" period gets abit heqavy, I refrain from going to Yala until now as advised by my friends and associates there. But then I still go to Betong as it bypass Yala.

When there were acouple of incidents affecting the places along the route from Hatyai to Betong, I don't drive anymore but instead take the public transport, and only the morning van as it reaches Betong about lunch time. Seriously, I also put on a white muslim cap for safety reasons.

If you want my advice, stay with you Girl and enjoy yourself in Hatyai unless you're going to Betong from Malaysia.

Particularly badly hit were the districts of Muang, Yaha and Kabang, as well as Krong Pinang sub-district. Muang Yala Municipality was also battered.

All areas of Krong Pinang were reportedly inundated and left in the dark as power was cut. Floodwaters reached up to 1.5 metres, reports said. A mudslide blocked a road at tambon Huay Krathing.

In Muang district, 225 millimetres of rain was recorded and about 100 families from tambon Sateng Nok were evacuated to a village mosque and a meeting hall.

In Yaha, the water level reached 313mm and there were blackouts across the district. About 100 families at two villages in tambon Sa-ae had to seek refuge at schools in nearby Ban La-ae and Ban Wang Samran. Rains also lashed Kabang where the water level in all its tambons averaged 1m. Most of the roads to the district were flooded, while some were totally impassable.

Heavy floods continued to ravage six districts in Satun, which caused damage estimated at over 2.8 billion baht. The province said over 20,000 people had been affected by the floods, which began on Friday.

Yala's flood relief centre yesterday warned people living in flood-prone areas, especially along the Sai Buri and Pattani rivers in the districts of Raman, Bannang Sata, and Muang, as well as Krong Pinang sub-district, to prepare for urgent evacuations.

The centre also warned motorists to beware of mudslides on the way to Betong district.

A forest run-off inundated two villages at tambon Kalupang in Raman, affecting about 100 homes in several tambons of Muang and Raman districts and the Tambon Administration Organisation office at Kalupang. Several roads were submerged, including parts of the Yala-Ban Niang and Yala-Betong routes.

Rescue teams and flat-bottomed boats were being sent to flood-hit areas to rescue stranded residents.

No casualties were reported, but the centre estimated that the cost of damage from the Dec 13-15 flooding in Yala stands at over 30 million baht.

Thanks for the post. It seem that Betong is more happening than Hatyai. In Betong, you have Russian and China gals. In Hatyai, I have not seen any China or Russian gals, though there may be some. Not that I am interested in China/ Russian gals, it is still good to feast with many variety to choose.

Also Betong, Agogo seem more happening than Hatyai. As for booking fees of Thai gals, it seem that Betong is cheaper. Anyway, the price difference is not very big. Some earlier posts mentioned that in general, Betong gals are prettier than Hatyai gals too. During my last trip to Hatyai in Dec 2005, Bro TV mentioned to me that he is quite happy to make friends with Bros from MLand and SLand. Why not go to betong from Ipoh if possible. Its much easier compare that u go from hatyai with those long winding road. There is coach sevice from Ipoh to betong daily from 8.30am if not mistaken and reach there by noon. Coming back from betong also same bus starting 4pm. Just go to the bus station in medan kidd in ipoh. The station is just next to shell station. (ask around if u not sure) and the bus fare cost around rm 12-rm13 per trip. Cheap cheap. Also check out one of the happening place there. Its call Nice Resort. Inside there is a disco opening noon have lot of chio puyings. LT for rm 200up. Another place happening is Khong kha hotel. Exit from merlin hotel turn left and walk straight until end of the lane u will see the hotel. Ask around if not sure.Disco opens 12 pm till 8pm. Booking for LT is rm 200. Puying very chio and some are dancers. As for hotel u may want to try some relaxing place. Hop in a tuk tuk and ask them to bring u to River Inn hotel or Sometimes resorts, these 2 hotels is out of the town but offer relaxing atmosphere such as u are in the resorts. (Good for bonking !!! :D . Starts from Rm 60 per night and check this place out, if u dont like it then u can turn back to Merlin.

Thanks Prof. You are right that Betong is not a convenient place for SLand bros. Hope that we will meet again in Hatyai sometime over a weekend in May or June. From now till then, I will work hard to slim down. In Sland, every other day, neigbours and friends complained that I am fat or I need to exercise more or eat less etc... Just yesterday, a neigbour complained that I am too fat and last week when I try the Javanese massage service, the massage lady also said that my body - bah bah (In hockien, it means full of meat and I suppose it is full of fats too). Once clear Betong customer, take a cab ride to the hotel that you want to stay @ RM 12.

You can just move around in the Betong city by walking.. The place is not big at all. If you are lazy, take tuktuk which cost 10 bahts per head.. Becareful, some tuktuk will want to chop 20 bahts. For late night time, the tuktuk will charge 15 bahts per head.

Hotel range in Betong is around 500 bahts to 1200 bahts.

The bus will send u directly to the m'sia/thai border. There u need to take a cab to betong town. But the bus will need to stop in grik bus station first before continue the journey. This is the most strategically located hotel with all the farms within walking distance, AGoGo at main entrance and one of the more active disco with a small casino too but of course, it was built 12 years ago and was poorly maintained. I would prefer Penthouse, further in from opp of the police station, priced at 660b. Though a little far, but much more comfy and cosier.

With Danuk started picking up last few years, Hokkien cheongsters (mainly those from Penang) started to drop while Canto cheongsters is growing good. Previously, only handful could speak Canto.


Betong is still a small town, tirak trap is the name of the game. It's either you got shitty treatment or you get traps laid all over if you seems potential. Service quality is pretty rare.

PRC growing more popular too but dont place too high expectation, its nothing in comparison with what you found in Spore KTV or even Geylang Golden Triangle.

Why not go to betong from Ipoh if possible. Its much easier compare that u go from hatyai with those long winding road. There is coach sevice from Ipoh to betong daily from 8.30am if not mistaken and reach there by noon. Coming back from betong also same bus starting 4pm. Just go to the bus station in medan kidd in ipoh. The station is just next to shell station. (ask around if u not sure) and the bus fare cost around rm 12-rm13 per trip. Cheap cheap.

The bus is not express bus and the total journey will take at least 4 hours thru a long and boring journey. If I remember correctly, you have to change bus in Grik to reach Pengkalan Hulu. There is another bus service call Betong Express, which operate from Spore and stop by KL. If I am not wrong, this bus service operate from Golden Mile.

The best route from Spore would be flying from JB>Ipoh via AirAsia when they started to fly every alt day. Then take taxi from Ipoh's Medan Kidd to Pengkalan Hulu (Msia border) which cost about RM150 for a cab, if you are 4 in a group and share the cost, it is lesser than RM40 each. These taxi usually gather around Medan Kidd around midnight, good time to leave at 3.00 am and reach around 6.00am to wait for the border opening. Border operate from 6am till 7pm Msia time now, extended slightly previously.

If drive from Ipoh, you could reach within 2.5 hours, the road is much better now. We did reached in 1hr 45 mins averaging 140 ~ 160km/h. 2 routes to drive - one is thru exit from Kuala Kangsar exit towards Grik and then to Pengkalan Hulu, you can go wrong here, there is only 1 route. Another is thru exit at Kulim (after Penang exit) and all the way straight towards Pengkalan Hulu. I find the Penang route faster as it is highway all the way but it's further in distance.

If you drive in foreign car to Hatyai, you have to exit from the same point, otherwise get ready to pay fine.

For me. I got young gals for B$2,500 (age about 21 years old) and her service was good. When I was in Hatyai some years back, I was ripped off by OKT who charged me B$2,000 for LT and the gal ran away after 2 hours. At 1,000b in Betong for a 20s WL, that's the price 12 ~ 15 years back. You could get it at 800b too, thats the time when I was active in Betong. The price at Betong is pretty much the same as in Hdy but I find the average quality / price is still lower. 1,500b ~ 2,000b are common price tag now. PRC are usually at 2,500b ~ 3,000b. Of course, sometimes you maybe lucky and found some at lower price or free but in general the farm rate is pretty consistent.

I surely agree price at Golok is lower due to the lower spending power for their customer base from Kelantan but again it is even a small town compared to Betong.

Sporean do have stronger spending power due to their currency but I do see lots of Malaysian who is spending as strongly, so it is always a matter of the spending power for each individual.

I find it hard to find any WL reasonable good at 1,500b too. Is 2,500 expansive? WL from Kiss Lounge cost at least $3,400 (include bar fine and all) while some goes exclusively for SC girls at 5,000b, so it is a matter of individual preference. One of the PRC headquarter is at Oversea Hotel, it has a small KTV, more like a lounge with few tables. Where it is operated by PRC mummy who bring ladies over. Quality is not too bad but dont expect higher quality than those found in Spore KTV.

Back to celebrate Chinese New Year in his hometown in Pusing, Chok Sin Ming, 32, said he used to drive to Ipoh but was glad to fly here with his wife and two toddlers.

"It’s wonderful to have a direct flight here," he said.

Former nurse Patricia Chee, 62, who took the flight with five family members, said the flight was very comfortable except for a slightly bumpy landing.

The family, returning home from a vacation in Singapore, took a cab to Johor at 3pm, boarded the 5.30pm flight in Senai and arrived in Ipoh at 6.10pm, 15 minutes earlier than scheduled.

Take a cab from Ipoh to Betong and normally around 3 hours --- 10:00 am (9:00 am thailand time), you will be able to reach the hotel in Betong.

Friday morning can have a good rest and from friday afternoon to sunday morning, you can do up to your limit.

Sunday morning, take a thailand cab from Betong @ 9 am thailand time to Malaysia custom. Will reach around 9:30 am thailand time and 10:30 am Malaysia time. Hop into a Malaysia taxi and you will reach Ipoh @ 13:30 hr malaysia time.

If its not weekend, its still not so bad. Good chance in GV Disco, or you can try those Singers or Agogo Dancer. We got few back to our room from Merlin Singing Lounge, one of the friend even spent a night at the girl's room. Don't risk other options like going in by bike by Thais or thai taxi.

Big cinema complex opens in Yala

Against the backdrop of ongoing violence, the trendiest and biggest entertainment complex in the three southernmost provinces opened for business in Yala on Jan 25.

Kom Akkadej, a veteran cinema operator and owner of Coliseum Intergroup Ltd, said construction began in 2003 but because of the escalating violence in early 2004 the project had stalled for a time.

"Despite the situation, I am still determined to soldier on. I am confident that the new cineplex will also attract people from Pattani and Narathiwat, not only Yala residents," Mr Kom said.

It was his ambition to transform stand-alone cinemas in the southern provinces into modern, multi-purpose cinema complexes, he said.

The 400-million-baht, four-storey Coliseum Cineplex Yala is on 18,000 square metres of land. Most of the space is dedicated to four cinemas, each with 800 seats. The rest is available for rent _ offices, food outlets, luxury goods shops and karaoke bars. New technology has also been brought in to make the complex more functional.

Mr Kom said the purchasing power of Yala people was evident. The KFC fastfood outlet was doing well, raking in 200,000 baht on the opening day of the cineplex.

Mr Kom, who is not a Yala native, said his business caters to pleasure seekers, people craving respite from the pressures of separatist unrest.

"My business has nothing to do with political or security issues. It is pure entertainment," he said.

Given the daily violence, security is a primary concern and there are guards on duty around the clock.

"Our customers are always willing to be frisked at the entrances. In fact, they say that without such strict security, they would be reluctant to come," he said.

Mr Kom has plans for another 300-million-baht complex in nearby Pattani, but lack of funding is delayjng construction. He said Krung Thai Bank was not happy with the situation in the province and would lend him only 100 million baht so only 600 foundation piles had been sunk so far.

"It is ironic that while the state is urging more investment in the region, the state bank is just looking the other way," he said.

Many businessmen were interested in getting a commercial foothold in the region, he said. But, ironically, most investors in Yala were from elsewhere, while the local investors were turning their backs on the province.

Well was in Danook on the 2nd Feb just after the CNY celebrations. Arrived at the Bukit Kayu Duty Free Complex’s at about 12noon. Went bought some beer and liquor with some friends who are also kakis of the “Land of The Thais”. Booked a cab to drive us across, as the traffic was terrible. It is a long time since I seen this kind of scenario at the border.
Was told that all hotels in Hatyai were fully booked till the end of the week and prices are doubled or tripled. no problem for us as we are staying in Danook. Quickly cleared customs and headed for my usual joint IPD Hotel. Surprised to see a new hotel opened nearby Phuipheng Hotel. Cost BHT 800 per nite. Price up because of CNY usual price BHT 600. :D
Checked in the hotel and my friends I headed out for lunch, as we were hungry. As we walked towards the main road to have lunch, survey some of the karokas but all were empty or with old chickens. Decided to have lunch and further scout the area. ;)
My friends all-getting very worried that no gals were available. Told them we will be able to find some. Found a karaoke, forgot the name had a few but not to our taste and the price a maddening BHT 2500 to BHT 3000. On normal days maybe not even BHT 1000. Walked around and found one by the name of MIDA just at the end of town. Had a few good selections. Quickly my friends pick out their choices. I picked one by the name of Ah Nook.
Prices started at BHT2500 but managed to discount to BHT 1500. The mummy was friendly woman and gave in to our price.

Yala banks attacks : Economic impact 'will be limited'

Central bank says few ramifications from wave of bombs in far South, but the province itself faces a dark future

Business in Yala may be brought to its knees after more than 20 banks were bombed in the province yesterday. But most officials and businessmen believe the national economy will avoid the havoc so far still contained in the deep South.

Fourteen bank branches will be closed in Yala today to investigate the bombings and repair damage, but they should reopen on Monday.

All cash-dispensing machines in the province are available for use. Banks will be responsible for security on their premises, while the central bank has already tightened security for its money distribution centre.

Jit Siratranont, deputy secretary-general of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, said terrorists had shifted their target from public agencies to commercial ones and this would lessen confidence among Malaysian investors and businessmen.

Malaysian tourists who planned to take a vacation in Yala were already cancelled their room bookings, said Charoen Wangananon, president of the Domestic Travel Association.

The Thai Hotels Association (THA) said tourists were shifting to other tourist sites such as Phuket and Krabi, or would postpone their trips.

However, Deputy Governor Tarisa Watanagase told reporters there would be little impact on the national economy.

"The damages to those banks is minimal," she said.

Her assessment was more optimistic than the central bank's earlier reaction. "It's scary. We can't estimate the damage yet," Governor Pridiyathorn Devakula had said.

Central bank senior director Suchada Kirakul also said that if the violence could be controlled within the three southern provinces, it would not have much affect on the national economy as the area rarely attracted investment.

New phone numbering system for Thai handphones takes effect from 1 Sept 2006

Callers to mobile phones now should start dialling "08", followed by the existing eight-digit number, as the new national numbering plan takes effect today.
Fixed-line telephone numbers remain the same.

For example, mobile phone numbers that start with "01" should be switched to an "081" prefix. The number (01) 234 5678 becomes (081) 234 5678.

Callers from abroad will have to add "8" after Thailand's "66" country code. For example, +668-1234 5678 would replace +66-1234 5678.

However, callers have until November 30 to get used to the new cellular dialling scheme. From December 1, only the 10-digit mobile-phone numbers will be valid.

All mobile-phone operators are now offering a free service at shops nationwide to convert numbers stored in handsets to the 10-digit format, regardless of the customer's service operator.

They will also send teams to busy shopping areas, such at Victory Monument and Silom as well as the offices of their customers to offer the conversion service.

Users also have to reconfigure the code of the short message function in their devices, which they can do by themselves or at operators' shops, to enable them to send and receive short messages. But they have a grace period until March 30.

Sigve Brekke, CEO of Total Access Communication (DTAC), said he would join more than 300 of his employees in spending the day in the Silom, Sathorn and Victory Monument areas to help people update their numbers.

The numbering plan aims to increase the total of phone numbers to 300 million from the present 90 million, which is expected to be enough to serve surging demand for 30 years.

Cellular-service providers have spent a combined Bt400 million upgrading their systems to comply with the new numbering plan.

The National Telecommunications Commission spent Bt30 million to publicise its new policy.

Get passports stamped, Malaysian commuters told

KOTA BARU : Malaysians crossing the border to southern Thailand should follow immigration rules and get their passports or border passes stamped rather than just wave them at checkpoints.

Waving documents or even just nodding heads at immigration officers is commonly done by the inhabitants of both sides of the Malaysian-Thai border in Kelantan as they cross the border daily for work and trade.

The army’s Eighth Brigade commander Brig-Jen Shaharuddin Abu Bakar said this practice should be stopped.

“If they are caught in southern Thailand without proper travel documents, they will have to face the consequences.

“They must go through the proper process in view of the unrest in the region and the coup in Bangkok,” he said.

Brig-Jen Shaharuddin said the brigade continued to be on high alert in view of the political uncertainty in Thailand and continued unrest in the southern part of the country that bordered Malaysia.

Decided to walk around and found this place called Harbin Karaoke (a few blocks away from Jockey Bar). There is about 10-15 PRC gals. Operated by a guy from Penang. Quality was so-so, about 5-7 rating out of 10. The over nite changes was THB3000. We sat and drink couple of bottles of beer (THB100/btl). There is even one from Mongolia, with CFM looks. me & my fren went there last week after hearing my colleague saying about this place again & again, so i bertolak at 2am in the sun morning from kl, and reach there around 6am in the border, while waiting for the border to open, went to pengkalan hulu town to have some breakfast. after finished breakfast, zoom to the border and check in to betong city plaza hotel at 690bht per night, but due to too early, the reception is so damn crowded with ppl checking out! finally, manage to check in at around 9am something, then go to look for puying.

dunno what the place called but u'll pass by a new looking tunnel, and that area is like still under constructing with hotel or houses. when reach that area, we are like superstar, surrounded by papasan (coz it's sunday) and the keep promoting how good is there ladies. so i just visit all of the shops, its about 10-20 shops if im not wrong, there are from 1-20 puying, rate from 3-8/10, depends on which shop. since i heard my friend said the price is around 1500bht - 2000bht for overnight booking, i ask the papasan y they charging me from 2500bht - 2700bht for overnight booking! not sure whether i look like newbie or below 2000bht is rate of bar girls, so decided on 1 bkk girl for 2500bht, after think about it, still very cheap after all, u get to have 1 full day with her for 2500bht only...so ask her to go to my hotel later as i wanna visit around betong since 1st time there.

after some sightseeing, back to hotel to wait for the puying, 'knock, knock, knock!'(yes, no door bell) here she comes...come in, tcss, watch tv etc etc, then she pop out a question...'arp nam mai?', i say ok, u 1st...then she say 'duay gan'(together)...i'm abit suprise and of course i say yes~!

wah lau, the 'arp nam' really like the one we get in bkk massage parlour, wash u clean clean in bathtub, but minus the body massage la, keke. then i shower for her too...after finished shower, dry up, go to bed, and boom boom lor...

after finish boom boom, decided to go to their agogo bar with her around 3pm, but really dissapointed la, i expecting it like bangkok type, but its more to like disco cum agogo bar, music inside is so damn loud, like those goyang kepala den, so damn dark, cant even see the ppl sit next to me, then some lady dancing in the stage that is without poles...so dissapointed, after finished up our beer, left straight away, total time inside less than 15 min.

the place is real quiet, coz its in sunday, hardly see others couples around the street, inside the agogo bar, just like 2-3 tables seated, so decide to get back to hotel to get a thai massage together with my puying.

after massage, go for dinner, then since i prefer a quite life after some busy life in kl, we just go back to hotel to 'arp nam', boom boom and then watch epl while drink some beer and with some snack.

on tomorrow morning, before leaving, we do one more 'arp nam' and boom boom again! haha, she is the one who asking for 'arp nam', i think she loves my 'arp nam' skill so much. next time i gonna buy some cool bathing cream or gel or shampoo there! after finished, she left at 8am, then i packed up, and leave betong for good!

i'll be back! i love the life there, it's quietness and the weather is cold!

oh yeah, btw, this is the best bonk so far, i've been very active in sport! i so suprise by my performance...improve so much!!!

Plan to make Betong a flower-growing hub

Yala - Betong district will be developed into a major regional producer of temperate flowers as part of new plans by the authorities to boost the incomes of villagers in the strife-torn province. Betong district chief Nopadon Songmuang said yesterday the district had the potential to produce cool-climate flowers commercially to compete with produce from Malaysia grown at elevations.

''But it will take time because many villagers here still prefer to grow rubber,'' Mr Nopadon said.

Rubber is the mainstay of the cash commodities of the South. Bangkok, which is the major market for temperate flowers, buys a lot of flowers grown in Malaysia's Cameron Highlands. The flowers are transported from Malaysia through Betong district.

There is substantial domestic demand for the flowers, he said.

Instead of only serving as a transit point for these flowers, Betong could become a major producer because the climate on the San Kala Khiri mountain range is suitable, he said.

Local farming of temperate flowers would be promoted but it would not undermine commercial rubber planting.

Mr Nopadon added that it would supplement incomes for villagers whose livelihoods have been hurt by the persistent insurgent unrest.

The Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre (SBPAC) is looking at ways to help boost the local economy by finding jobs for villagers.

''Betong is seen as being the most ready for transformation into an economic heart of the southernmost provinces,'' Mr Nopadon said.

The idea to promote temperate flower farming was floated by SBPAC director Phranai Suwanrath who envisaged expansion of the commercial developments of rubber and banana farms in the region to cater to global demand.

Meanwhile, officials are also encouraging villagers to grow more Brazilian-breed bananas, which could be sold at high prices in the Middle East.

Weather and soil conditions in the far South are suitable for farming these bananas, Mr Nopadon added.

Hope that the following information will still be useful to you.

I had just re-visited Betong after 1.5 years break from there.

- Take a night coach to Ipoh = reach around 5 to 6 am
(S$ 38 to S$50)
- Take a cab from Ipoh to cross Malaysia custom and arrive at thai custom = reach around 9 am (Thailand time = 8 am) (PM me if u need cab driver contact)
(RM 150 to RM 200)
- Once clear thai custom, take a cab to the hotel that you intend to go.
(RM 10 to RM 20)

Just update the scene there for brother as i just came back from betong last week. This time short stay so not much chance to explore all areas. As my preference still MIC, i only got some update on the MIC.

MIC girl are now younger. Now you can easily grap one who is 25 years old below. However, price increased to 3000 and 3500 bahts.

Becareful on some KTV, last time sit with u only need to give tip RM 20 to 30. Some now demand atleast RM 50. Do remember to check up the price first before u order your drink.

Just a new update for betong as i just came back!!! For your info the Malaysian immigration now close at 11pm m'sia time. Also if bros know about Nice Resort, it has just reopens after a 1years+ close down. Have about 15-20 puyings inside the agogo bar. Nothing much was done on the renovation , maybe a little bit here and there touch up. As for the rates LT is 2500bt-3000bt. Puying grades are still not as good as b4 , maybe due to its just resume business. (they open only on 16/3/09). Any bros who r regular to nice resort would like to revisit but please provide fr or details.

Stayed in River Inn, cosy, safe, clean, quiet, away from town, 700 bahts per night. Would prefer to stay nearer/in town next trip.

Farm gals, standard and choice were way below that of Danok. Even TBK choice is better. Cost wise, same as Danok.

Better book gals from agogo bars, like Kong Ka, O2, 008, only visited these 3. Others are Jockee (not sure spelling), My Love, Merlin disco. The rates are pretty standard 3000 - 4000 baht for LT. The better looking ones are all in these joints. Maybe a way for them to choose customers, so if they on with you, chances are, you will have a good time. I had mine.

Food wise, quite disappointing, maybe, because our 'guide' (a friend) did a David Copperfield.

Betong do have some nice sight seeing, like The Communist Tunnel, Flower Garden (trust me, this is worth visiting), Hot Spring...

Return trip? Yes, I will, I like such environment, but not so soon.

Now I am spoilt by choice, Danok, Hatyai, TBK and now Betong. The latter 2, mai mee golf courses......

2 DOM Adventurous Trip to Land Of Smiles (Hatyai & Betong) – Part 2

10th – 12th May 2010

After leaving Hatyai, a slow and reluctant drive toward Danok on our way to Betong, we should had stayed back as we are enjoying the companionship of our new found part-time lover/teerak but cannot as we had promised to meet up with Prince Holymann already in Betong.

After the Thai custom cleared not much hassle, we stop to have “char yin” my favourite and also had a nice plate of durian with glutinous rice…yummy! Then a slow drive out to Betong via Gurun which is only about 50 minutes to Pengkalan Hulu.

Call Prince Holymann and he is only 15 minutes behind us as we left Danok around 5.30+pm Msian time. Then after clearing the Msian, we wait for him to catch up and proceed the journey together into Betong.

Check into the hotel, correct hotel that we want to stay but book the wrong hotel anyway, it is cheaper than Grand Mandarin. So we check into Grand View Hotel with is adjacent to Oxygen and ?? what name karaoke thinking that we might be partying at these 2 places which we didn’t make it.

When cleaning up myself (bathing) ……miss the feeling of having been washed clean by someone…..kan!

After checking in and clean up, we went to Grand Mandarin to cancel our booking and they are still waiting for us and explain the mix-up and they say never mind next time stay there. Then we proceed to Kongka to secure our girls which is Jane for Uncle Tand sleepy eyes for me which we met during our last trip. We proceed to Jockey Pub and stay there for about 1 minutes too cramp up and crowd for us we leave.

Then out to have dinner and later come back for them at almost 9pm Thai alas the place is closing up and the girls punching cards and in the chaotic manner we manage to locate our girls and off we went with them to 008 at Grand View to secure Prince Holymann princess…..! (the best looking girl around...) haizzzzz!

After securing her, we proceed to Merlin Club as we try to cover the 3 places that we miss the first time there Merlin Club, My Love and Jockey Pub.

On the way to Merlin, damn my girl is high already……!@#$%^&&** on liquor or what ? She insist it is beer that her manager force on her….50 bottles for 3 girls which one of them is her.

Went in Merlin, and my girl is still high……..decide to call it a night and asked my girl where she wants to go……she replied,” Kap Ban”……ho sie lieow, can change girl already, The she asked me,” U park ti nai?” I replied,” Garden View” …..she says ,”Okay! Pai pai pai!”

Then, I say,” Pai ti nai” to make sure where she wants to go…….,”Pai roong liem” (Hotel) Kan! Kan! Kan!!@#$%&***&(*&*&*!

Okay loh…..she lays down in the back seat with me as Tarzan and Jane went to have their dinner as Jane hadn’t had her dinner yet. Then the beer started to wear off her……that is where her GFE starts….!

Still struggling towards to lift and to our room…which is very small for me…..compare to uncle’s and Prince Holymann’s room……! Bo piean have to stuck with her already……then FK starts already very passionate and I dare not the action yet as the whole box of condom is with me…..have to wait for Uncle T and Jane to come back…!

While she is showing me her many messages from her “customers”, Uncle T and Jane arrives and passed them the CDs and off they went. And she asked me to take a bath and sleep. Okay loh…took my bath and sleep beside her…and she start to climb over me and started to French me kau kau as if I am the working man. Then action starts……missionary, side thrust, missionary again then she cowgirl me…..doggie after about almost an hour cannot complete the mission, maybe too tired…she is deeply disappointed despite she cum twice already…..kan! Call it a night as my small brother wanted badly to rest………! I feel bad also but no choice maybe too tired but then I was not sleepy I was rather hungry.

She went to sleep immediately and I started to feel hungry……had a chocolate bar that I bought from Duty Free Shop in Bukit Kayu Hitam and still hungry.

50-50 un-decisive whether to go out or not, as the car was parked nicely and was afraid that no more places when I come back…..well, hunger took the better of me, asked her whether she want to eat or not…..shake her head and off I go by myself to round round to look for duck mee alas cannot find one then saw Grand View….parked the car and went in MY Love last destination to complete my tour of Betong. Then on the way, saw a small shop opposite, order wantan mee and eat by myself and enjoying the TV programme there.

While driving around, there are many girls on motorcycles stopping me asking me to take them, I just told them that my wife is sleeping in my room now…..zooommmmmmmmmmmm off they go. They are not pretty if not sure jump on them for ST. heheheeheh!

Went back she is still fast asleep…..undress and lay down to sleep……off the light and she woke up to smile at me…..I say “good night” to her……and tuck myself in. The she slowly come on to me…..this time my little brother is on guard and ready for her offenses already…..! Last time when I go in Betong, always use Taxi. When u reach custom, just ask around, someone will call taxi for you. Can be car, van or motocycle. ;)

Getting There:
Arrived Penang airport. Met up with our pre-arranged driver and headed toward Betong. Travelling time was around 2hr 45mins. Dropped off at Malaysia immigration point as the driver was not prepared to drive us through [paid RM350 and this is what we get]. After immigration, a bit lost as Thai immigration was not in sight [our first visit to the place]. Decided to walk along the one and only road ahead of us. Distance between the two immigration was about 400 meters apart. It wasn't visible to each other because it was blocked by a bend. Along the way, there were motorcyclist offer to take us into Betong charging at RM20 but we declined knowing that we can get a taxi car at the same cost at Thai immigration point (thanks to this thread). Clearing Thai immigration were smooth and we didn't paid the 2 dollar levy (not aware of this).

Generally in Betong, present of military occasionally seen at some part of the street but nothing to be alarm. Nothing unusual and I felt it's still a safe place to visit.

Accommodation:
Stayed at Grand Mandarin Betong Hotel. Consider the best hotel. Room is clean, specious, good shower pressure and good city view. Swimming pool was well maintained. Great location. Good breakfast spread but wonder how often they changed the menu. No complaint against the price we paid. Most hotel within city are just stone away from each other and concentrated within so I guess choosing a comfortable one should be the main consideration of your choice.

Main Point:
I wouldn't want to mention much on the bedroom action but would like to share on the sources for getting your room mate. During my stay, I visited three source for working girls.
1.Disco (O Yes and Hollywood). Mainly dancer, looks and figure stand as 7/10 but mostly puying. Asking price at RM500. Common stuff, waitress will pester you to buy necklace for dancer (cost at RM10 per piece).

2.PRC at KTV. Lake View Hotel. Not much choices. Saw a few “mei mei” but from “mamasun” there are about 20 mei mei in total. Asking price RM350. If you are in CP or ZH, you wouldn't laid at eye on these girls. My rating: 5/10.

Travelling within Betong City:

“Tuk Tuk” are readily available to take you around city at RM2 per person.

For though who are not driving and like to travel out town to visit place of interest, there a travel agent situated near Clock Tower that provide Mini Van booking.(8 to 10 pax) between RM120 to RM150, but need to make one day advance booking. This travel agent also provide transportation arrangement from Penang airport to Betong directly (to and fro).

Getting Out:

Most hotel provide taxi call service to bring you across till Malaysia immigration point chargeable at RM25. Once you alight at the Thai immigration point, taxi driver will wait for your return and ferry you to Malaysia immigration point.

The bus is not express bus and the total journey will take at least 4 hours thru a long and boring journey. If I remember correctly, you have to change bus in Grik to reach Pengkalan Hulu. There is another bus service call Betong Express, which operate from Spore and stop by KL. If I am not wrong, this bus service operate from Golden Mile.

The best route from Spore would be flying from JB>Ipoh via AirAsia when they started to fly every alt day. Then take taxi from Ipoh's Medan Kidd to Pengkalan Hulu (Msia border) which cost about RM150 for a cab, if you are 4 in a group and share the cost, it is lesser than RM40 each. These taxi usually gather around Medan Kidd around midnight, good time to leave at 3.00 am and reach around 6.00am to wait for the border opening. Border operate from 6am till 7pm Msia time now, extended slightly previously.

If drive from Ipoh, you could reach within 2.5 hours, the road is much better now. We did reached in 1hr 45 mins averaging 140 ~ 160km/h. 2 routes to drive - one is thru exit from Kuala Kangsar exit towards Grik and then to Pengkalan Hulu, you can go wrong here, there is only 1 route. Another is thru exit at Kulim (after Penang exit) and all the way straight towards Pengkalan Hulu. I find the Penang route faster as it is highway all the way but it's further in distance.

If you drive in foreign car to Hatyai, you have to exit from the same point, otherwise get ready to pay fine.

Hi bro, frm kulim to pengkalan hulu takes at least 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours. Depends on your speed driving. The time i mention if you drive at 90km pace.

If not intend to drive in to thailand, you can park your car in duty free zone which after malaysia immegresen. Rm10 per day. Another alternative you can park your car at pengkalan hulu bus station which a lot parking there.

Between pengkalan hulu to thai boarder is 7km. So you need to drive in. If u park at pengkalan hulu as i stated in above. You can take a malaysia cab which is cost rm12 per trip. Which then will sent you to thai boarder. Thai boarder you need to change to thai cab or tuk tuk which cost rm20 per trip. (The price is not perhead but per trip. If u go with bunch of friends will be cheap to share cost) price will slightly up went u go back to malaysia. Frm betong to malaysia boarder is rm25 per trip then following with the malaysia cab is cost same rm12.

Actually i am newbie here on Betong, have 3 qns with regards to Betong( checked some other forums, most info is quite outdated for betong).

1) How do i make my way to the thai checkpoint near pengkalan hulu(7km away) from sg? I prefer not to take plane or drive car, take bus is fine by me as i know the trip is 11-12 hours but hopefully it saves me money if i am correct.

I believe i can take direct bus from golden mile? is it possible if i can take bus from johor larkin or at KL? I also understand you can take train from pudu there?

2) What is the currency being used at Betong? is it RM or BHT? coz i heard that u will have to pay more if you use RM instead of BHT.

3) Lastly, is there a map for Betong that i can source online? I am very interested in going down to the Discos but not familiar with the area there. Any good hotels nearby this discos? I understand the LT rate is at 500 RM(kinda ex but probably can nego? LOL) I will definitely stay at these hotels if its guest friendly.

2) U can use ringgit malaysia inside Betong or Thai Baht but they are smart so they might charge u a bit more in RM but most of the time depending on the rates.

3) Betong is so small and u wont get lost, Lol u wont need a map. All u need is Tuk Tuk driver to bring u around. I have a contact for an Awesome Tuk TUk driver that i basically hire for the whole time i am there for only RM 50-100 per day and he drives me around and hes also my body guard there, and my guide to the latest places with hottest girls. I usually buy him a few beers in all the clubs i go into and i have known him for about 6 yrs. The main clubs are all located in a square near Sri Betong(KongKha, Hollywood merlin, Jockey Etc) then theres the other side of Betong where 008 club is available.Chicken farms are located around the square and throughout Betong. The prices vary from RM250-500 depending on the quality. Places like Hollywood or KongKha opens up at 500 for models but sometimes the prices can be nego to 400 depending on girl and if she is desperate or not. My tuk tuk/guide speaks Malay,thai and some eng so if anyone needs his contact, pm me.

Note: Betong is a really small place that ppl go to disapear and to relax. There is really nothing much to do other than drink/massage/fuck, no real shopping places, not much things to see. But if ur looking for a place to just forget about things and to relax, then Betong is an Ok place, The girls still are much more forgiving than Danok. For your question 3, fyi, the map in betong via online is hardly to find. Some of the hotel is surrounding with the Club/Disco. Recent update, the top discos "My Love" is already closed down which i know the boss of the club. The best nearby hotel is merlin WITH free Wifi either sri betong, no wifi. Price range frm 890-1000bath. if you stay in merlin hotel the best part is the jockey club is beside and the flamingo ktv is the next of it. Opposite is O Yes Club and Nighttime same building of O Yes Club is a Merlin Club. Barfined Girl normally is from RM300 onwards. All club barfined is charge RM50 and the rest to the girl earning. So EACH club has their starting rate. Jockey is start frm RM300, New Konka RM400, Hollywood RM450, O Yes RM350 and KTV mostly start frm RM300. For flamingo KTV is starts frm RM350.

Hi Bro, If taking bus from KL will make the distance shorter. Pengkalan Hulu to Thai boarder is only 7km. Not too worry, as long you still in Malaysia boarder you are safe.

An Update on Betong !

The Last time i was in Betong was roughly about 3 years(first time i went there was prob 7 yrs ago) and it was still pretty fun in a very remote and chilling way.

Last time: Day Clubs were Jockey pub, 008(the club after u pass the monkolit tunnel, Kongkah and random small ones. They all open quite early to cater to the half day mongers. 008 used to have the prettier girls and kongkah once in a while will have gems. Jockey pub has always been a nasty strip bar with really normal to older women and they cater to the aged men or dark skinned men.

I went there on Saturday cause my fren's PRC had to renew her visa so he asked my fren and i to tag along and i thought to myself !! Hey long time never been to Betong so its the long weekend so might as well go have a look!!! I drove my car in cause betong is so small so pretty easy to navigate around.


Present Day.
Jockey Pub and the KTV beside it still opens relatively early (12Pm to 11pm)
and remains the same quality 2/10 stars at best in terms of women and crowd. New Kongkah opens around 3pm and we were there at 4 ish and OH lord it was pretty bad !! Most of the girls were pretty stalky or well built and fairly dark. Again seems to cater to Dark skinned ethnic group. Stayed for 2 beers then Left to Explore the 008.

008 changed its name to Candy(the club beside used to be My love is also changed to something else i forgot). We drove across the tunnel then proceed to Candy. it was 530 pm already and most of the girls have arrived.
It was a lot better than Kongkah, had a few pretty good looking girls 6-7/10 at best. Had a few with solid bodies and ass. It was early so we just ordered 3 beers cause we just wanted to check this place out so just simple called the lady that i fancied and bought her a few shots and hung some beads and left soon afterwards.

Forward to nighttime we drove to Hollywood and went up to explore with the mindset of not expecting too much. Ok Hollywood was a little bit better than Candy in terms of having younger girls but they have a few Post Op Lady boys performing on stage which is a bit of a turn off for me. I saw one that had an exceptional body and looked syt so i bought some beads(necklace made of beads) and sent 2 to her while she danced on stage. There were 3 of us so each of us proceeded to buy beads for the girls of our choice. We opened a 1 litre bottle of Black label and drank that until we finished the bottle(from 1005-120am) and then ordered a set of beers(5). I hung 27 beads of necklace to my girl and gave a quite few to her frens. She had a nice body but her face upon close inspection, wasnt that nice at all(not ugly but aint pretty at all) so i didnt bother to ask her back but i did find out about the pricing from the Mamasan and from my girl(she chooses if she wants to go back with customers and mgmt cant force them). I notice there werent many mongers in Betong and especially young mongers. Imagine on a saturday night at Hollywood there were prob only 13 tables occupied out of 30 tables. By 1am we were the only table left in the club other than the OLDIES group so we were swarmed by all of them so we gave the last few beads and then left the place.

We were already drunk but we still wanted to drink and was curious about the late night club beside candy that used to be call My Love. So I drunkenly drove there. To out surprise 80% of the girls that were working at Candy was also working at My Love except for the 3 other girls and 2 coyote dancers. We took the center table and proceeded to open up another set of beers. Again there weren't many patrons so we were swarmed and most of the girls recognized us and the girl we each had earlier automatically came to each of us. My girl is a litte tan but had a kick ass body with the perfect round ass but her face looks a little surgically enchanced which i dont really like but i was drunk and horny so i just bought her some beads and proceeded to molest her for almost 1.5 hrs. Did the SOP, bought beads, some shots then hugs and kisses . Then left at around 3 ish for Supper of awesome fried noodle down the street from the club.

Next day woke up had lunch at a noodle shop near the roundabout then had a 2 hr massage at merlin Hotel for 30rm(tipped rm10) then went back.

Note:

1) Betong was a big disappointment compared to last time, gone was the hey days of having to find gems and bang some 2 grade models who wants some fast money in betong. At best we only saw 1 7/10 the rest were 6/10 and lower. Dont even bother with the Chicken farms cause we went to 3 of them in town and 4 of them on the other side of the tunnel and the quality was really bad.

2)Food used to be pretty good in Betong, i always patronize a place call RongKhao( a restaurant beside the Longkang aka Drain aka small river) and they have the best Nam Prik ka pi in Southern thailand but had dinner there ordered the same dishes i used to enjoy , turns out the chef has left and the taste reflects that and the Nam Prik ka pi was very normal and nothing to shout about. 5 dishes no fish or prawns,(with drinks 130RM). Kai Betong is something that you should order if your ever there and its basically their Kampung chicken which taste pretty good. Even drove to Pirivet Tunnel which is about 7-9 km from betong town to the famous restaurant beside the tunnel to have lunch and turned out very dissapointing and quite a dirty place to eat with lots of flies.

Price:
1Ltr Black label was 2300 baht so kinda cheap
Red label 1700

Ice is free and mixers around RM5-7 per bottle.
Beers were all big bottle and cost from 210-270baht depending on how many you order(one bottle will be more exp than a few)

Bead necklace are like buying flowers in Danok and each of them cost RM10 and i buy 5-10 of them each time(RM50-100). And every 15-30 mins i will give my girl 2-3 to keep her beside me so that i can slowly molest and to KC her.
It is very cheap compared to Danok(which cost rm 50 for small flower wreath to RM100 for the bigger ones). The whole night of drinks and beads only cost me less than RM600 so it is a very cheap place to play around.

Prices for girls:
From farms 200-300 depending on the shop and how pretty the girls are.
From Hollywood, candy and my love: If the girls like you or they need money and agree to go back with you will cost on average 400-600 but of course everything is down to negotiation. My fren brough his chick back from Hollywood for RM450 for overnight.

Food wise: noodles about rm4-6 per bowl or 4-6 per plate of pork or chicken rice. Restaurant wise about 20-30 per person .

Hotel: Stayed at Rainbow place which cost RM60 PN. Clean but very standard and basic room

I dont think i will ever return to Betong unless there are some drastic changes cause after talking with the boss of the hotel i was staying. He basically said all the younger patrons have all gone to Danok and whats left in betong are older patrons and lots of Dark Skinned Patrons so slowly the clubs are slowly evolving to suit the patrons patronizing .

Sorry for the long winded Report but i just wanted to share with you all !!

Have a Safe cheong and i think i will stick to DANOK, HATYAI and BKK !!!

1hr ride is possible if you are taking air transport :p.... Distance between these 2 places about 300km.....and you are travelling along those small dusty roads... No highways.... so you are looking at a 4hr+ journey instead....

I happened to be a passenger inside a car with my friend who drove all the way from singapore to betong...really tiring 9 hours journey...oops I drove the JB to KL and KL to JB route...:)

The only recalled me in Betong is the Jockey Club. Jockey Club Next to Flamingo KTV or Opposite O Yes Club.

Seem now Betong is getting quite compare with last 2-3 years back. Most girl that i known is now working in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Seem the business market drop after the bombing incident last year.

Fortunately the Thais are smart this time and did not fall into the ambush by rushing to the 1st explosion which occurred around midnight.... instead they waited until daybreak before making their move and discovered the other IEDs.

Maybe you are not aware as the news did not report..... but go check with your contacts in the security services..... the incident was disseminated and TPI lookout messages for the suspects sent out.

The incident :- An explosion occurred at the power station...... a motorcycle parked next to it exploded around 11.45pm..... not very big and damage was minimal as the intent was to lure the security forces to the scene rather than cause damage. However the officer on duty refused to sent out his men in the darkness as he suspected it was a trap..... instead he mustered his forces and waited for daylight. At about 6.00am they proceeded to the scene of the explosion and on the approaching paths to the power station were IEDs found hidden nearby. They were able to spot these bombs in daylight but if they had responded that night..... many of them would have walked into the boobytraps.

Me and my friend organising a betong trip in August from 20th August (leave at late night to Betong) 'til 24th August (reach Singapore at late night).

Transport is chartered minibus, minimum 7 pax required (I already have 2, so left 5 more) for SGD$220 per pax. I am still checking what's the maximum number of pax able to sit on the minibus.

We will book hotel as well for you, but the payment for hotel/charbo settle by yourself.

For those first timers, we are able to bring you around if you need, just let us know in advance so we can make plans. =)
