If I understand correctly, the first manifestation of Guan Yin is a man. A lot of ladies pray to him for a good marriage in ancient days. Over time, the image of Guan Yin was switched to a lady. That's why in older temples in China, Guan Yin is a 2 sided statue. One side is a man, the other side is a lady. The reasoning given was that ladies feel more comfortable praying to a female deity. So there isn't anything wrong with ladies being able to find romance in a Guan Yin Temple. In fact, this view is highlighted even in movies like 'Tang Bo Hu Dian Qui Xiang' which starred Stephen Chow. He did go to the temple to 'bio' Qui Xiang when he found out that Qiu Xiang will be going to the temple to pray on the 15th day right?

If you can hook up with a lady in the temple, good for you. You've got divine help ya? At least I think if you have kids with this lady, your kids are quite likely to be praying to Guan Yin, maybe even make them god-children of Guan Yin. ;)
