Difficulty accessing SBF when using Starhub Cable

Hi anyone having difficulty accessing SBF lately. It seems like only Starhub Cable is having this problem.

But I connect via http://hidemyass.com/
which will hide your IP address, so you can surf anonymously. I was not expecting it to help actually.

But to my surprise, it worked. If I use the direct address, it still doesn't work. Hope it helps.

If there is a server side issue, access should also be problematic from there. I will post a reply here in about a week's time.

I have the same problem and tried almost the same remedy method as you bro. i'm using SH cable cannot log in..tried with my Iphone with M1 also cannot log in for the past few days.. I'm so glad now able to get my daily dosage of medicine to stop the itch...

Our traffic is probably blocked by the gahmen/telco proxies. Our traffic is not encrypted right? Maybe the gahmen does packet level sniffing and all our data is viewed or analyzed..hehe...what a tot...

Do you use loadbalancing for Sammyboy forum? That way even if gahmen tries to clamp down on ur site, it can route traffic to another IP address...

I'm having the same problem again. Since Friday, I had been unable to log on via my laptop at home using Starhub modem. Then, it worked fine when I logged on on Sunday. Since Monday (yesterday), it's the same problem again and really frustrating.

Funnily, I can use 3G via my Starhub mobile line to log on from home using my iPhone4. To test, I switched to WiFi on my mobile and had the same problem. I called up Starhub this evening and asked why am I having such problems, of course not revealing the website I have problems accessing. I just told them generally that I could not access some websites and asked why. I was even asked to connect my laptop directly to the modem and see if I could access, but still unable to, which confirms that my wireless router is perfectly ok. The guy I spoke to did seem to suggest that they do sometimes block some sites, but was not specific. I also confirmed with the guy that my account does not have "Safesurf".

Any other brothers are still having the problem or have managed to resolve it? If you have managed to completely resolve it, how did you do it? I am posting this by using "Hide My Ass", which seems to be the only way I can acces SBF. Really wasting my time and I am certain Starhub has something to do with this. SBF is like our daily dosage and it's been boring only accessing via my iPhone as the screen is too small.

I have exactly same problem. And i using SIngtel. And this problem still exist today. But somehow, this problem can be overcome by access using Firefox 8. thats how i reply this mail now. :D

Am using Firefox to surf SBF.

Most of the time, I am able to access SBF and surf as per normal.

However, there were instances where I encountered 504 Gateway Timeout messages and broken pages. In addition, surfing on SBF is sometimes rather slow and takes a long time to load or refresh.

I'm using wireless connection on Singtel's fibre optics.

Hope this issue can be rectified soon :o

Hmm..frustrating because I do not seem to be able to reward rep points for some brothers via Hidemyass. Again, this post is via logging on through Hidemyass. I have already called SingTel to ask for their installation charges since I've already got Mio TV. Only issue is cancelling StarHub broadband as there are cancellation charges since my contract runs up till January 2013. May need to ask them to waive on the grounds of poor connectivity ;-)

Starhub will always gives the same old lame reason, ask u to reboot ur modem. If prob persist, they'll say ur router not compatible. Else, they'll say ur modem is old model and not up to speed for ur current plan, this resulting in connectivity probs. Loads of crabs frm them. Customer Service hotline minimum waiting time ranges frm 30mins ~ 1hrs. Kaoz!

Anyway, I dun think they are blocking the site cos if blocked, can't even access. Dun think there's such thing tt when they block still can partial access or slow loading. Must be something wrong wif the ISP config.

As promised, I checked the connection to the site from Hong Kong and Shenzhen yesterday and today. I am posting this from my Shenzhen hotel. Connections are both good and in fact seems to be faster than my Starhub connection. Seems the problem is definitely on the ISP side (i.e., Starhub) in my case.

Hi Bro, I tried using Opera browser, cannot even log on. My conclusion is that the issue is with the service provider, in my case it is StarHub. As another brother correctly pointed out, he had no issues accessing the site from HK.

When I called Starhub the other day dialling the dedicated Platinum Club member hotline, I had to hold for 23 minutes before speaking to someone, damn ridiculous! In comparison, my call was picked up in 30 seconds when I called SingTel to make enquires on their broadband. I rest my case, and time to change to SingTel. Will need to negotiate with StarHub on the cancellation charges though....

For my case, my home is running on SH. No issue on wifi. Iphone4S running on M1 3G. Must use wifi to get connected to SBF, else need to use opera or hidemyass.

If there was something wrong with the site, I wouldn't be seeing 4000 messages posted daily.

Apache server is well within limits and the MySQL server is running very fast.

The problem is in the singapore proxy servers. It caches out of date information. I have set the TTL on my DNS manager to 1 HOUR! It can't go any lower than that. This means that any changes that I make should propagate very quickly. However, if the proxy servers that Singaporeans are forced to use cache the DNS for a much longer period, the site will become unreachable via that particular proxy.

Why don't you call up your ISP and ask them to flush the DNS cache. I'm pretty sure that will solve most of your problems. At the same time you can ask them how often they update the caches.

I created this alternative domain to see whether it makes any difference. Since it's a brand new domain, it does not exist in any of the existing caches so the proxy server is forced to fetch the content from the server.

I have no problem with the new link (www.sammyboysexforum.com).

It is slightly faster to surf as compared to the original one as I had difficulty entering SBF for the whole of yesterday. I could only log on last night.

By the way, I'm using Singtel. Will it make any difference under Starhub or Singtel if the real problem is with Singapore's servers?

Unless they all share one big proxy, there'll definitely be differences in performance.

Hi Bro, I had the same problem as you last night; even unable to log on via Hidemyass as well as Anonymouse.org

I just got home to try to log on via the new link provided by boss and it works just fine. Excellent to be able to get my daily dosage of SBF without all the hassles over the last week or so. Hope this will last and no other problems surface for us.

Am using both domains, and both seem to work well now. The "old" one has been working fine for past 2 days too. I'm with starHub.

M1 mobile use http://hidemyass.com, key www.sammyboyforum.com, click on 'hide my ass'. Then log in as usual and surf. No problem for me.
