Police have arrested two women, aged 25, for suspected involvement in online vice-related activities.
Through extensive enquiries and follow-up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division mounted an operation and raided a unit located along Jalan Lokam, resulting in the arrest. Preliminarily investigations revealed that the illicit activities were advertised via the internet websites where potential customers could book its services. Some transaction records and cash $1000/- were seized as exhibits during the raid. Investigations are on-going.
Under the provisions of the Women’s Charter, Chapter 353, any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on earnings of the prostitution of another person is liable on conviction to a fine of up to $10,000, or to imprisonment of up to 5 years, or both. Any male person who is convicted of a second or subsequent offence under this provision shall, in addition to any term of imprisonment imposed in respect of such offence, be liable to caning.
Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Keok Tong San commended his officers for their perseverance and commitment in crime fighting. He added that this is part of Police’s ongoing enforcement efforts to clamp down on vice activities and a warning that those who conduct such illicit activities will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
