you are joking right?

its days away from ndp.. hotels in the vicinity all have hiked up prices for that period, where people want to get a hotel room to watch the fireworks, and enjoy staycations over the long weekend.

even for normal 5 star hotels like mandarin and pan pac, you'll probably be paying around 600 for a suite. also, they price rooms that have a view of the fireworks slightly higher than the other rooms.

for the bro who mentioned there might be availability issues, i disagree. if you read over the papers or media, it's stated that all hotel rooms in the vicinity are booked out. however, this isn't true. i know a couple of people in the industry who used to work at one of those hotels. it's just a gimmick to hype up the bookings during that period, which are extremely over priced.

don't believe me? try to do a booking and you will see that their 'fully booked' isn't so fully booked after all.

well, it doesn't necessarily mean that you need money to be romantic. here's a free idea for you. (and yes, i have done something similar personally - don't ask me where, if you really want to be romantic then do the research yourself)

1. look around for old buildings or office buildings that have an accessible roof with a view of the fireworks.

2. recce the building to know how to access it properly. there are a lot of buildings that are farther away, but still have an unblocked view.

3. there will probably be an old, sleeping security guard.. which is why i mentioned old office buildings etc.

4. get on youtube and google lockpicking instructions. several buildings have normal door locks that aren't very difficult to pick. you need to understand that for locks that are easy for amateurs to pick, there are a few generic kinds. i used to know nothing about lockpicking, but after a few hours on youtube and another few hours with some simple locks, i could pick the few basic types.

5. sneak to location and pick lock to roof.

6. whip out your pre-prepared picnic box and have a picnic while waiting for the fireworks.

7. get a designer friend or learn some simple software and create 2 fake passes for one of the offices in the building itself.

8. that way, if you get caught you can just tell the old bumbling security guard that you work downstairs and just came up to watch the fireworks, while discovering the roof is somehow unlocked.

9. steps 1-8 at your own risk.. if you get caught it's your own responsibility.

10. if your date is a golden cb this probably wont be her idea of a romantic date, but if she is fun loving and game to try new things it will be an exciting and romantic night. cheers!
