How do you guys intend to propose to you future wife?? If those already married, what's your method?

Just to sidetrack abit, very boring 2day. You guys got any innovative way to propose to your "special her" or your wife propose to you? Any ladies dun mind pop the Q of marriage to your future hubby? Heard this topic in radio last nite, so just wanna hear you views. The place of my proposition is Clarke Quay. Tied the wedding ring to the white tulip. I passed it to for after dinner. :p

Below are some ideas beside down on one's knee to propose :p ...

Marriage Proposal Ideas

1. Arrange to meet her in a beautiful park near some riding stables. Rent a knight's armor from a costume shop or theatrical company and pick it up on the way. Rent a horse at the stables, don the armor, ride up to meet her and offer to be her prince. Present the ring with princely flair on bended knee. You could have someone in the bushes nearby ready to play Holst's "Jupiter" as she starts to see you in the distance.

2. Cook and set an elaborate candlelight table (or cater if you are not talented in the kitchen) for a quiet romantic dinner for two at home. Serve her a glass of champagne with the diamond ring in the bottom or ribboned to the stem.

3. Have an artist paint her portrait, adding a box with an engagement ring in her hand before you present it. When you present the portrait, have the ring ready when she asks about it.

4. Bring home an enthusiastic new puppy with a ribbon for a collar. Have the ring in the bow for her to find as she cheerfully greets the cuddly pup.

5. Have a plane sky-write your proposal. Plan it for the day of a family picnic, boat ride or other outing so she is sure to see it. Have your diamond ring ready when she sees your proposal.

6. Hire a magician to entertain just the two of you. Have the magician make the box with the engagement ring mysteriously appear as the surprise ending of the last trick.

18. Set a date to go to the movies, then rent ad space for your proposal at your favorite theater. Make sure you have the diamond with you.

Well, actually I had mine planned for a trip to Paris and propose at the Eiffel Tower with one bended knee. But hor.. due to budget constraint, I might change to Shanghai as I saw this place 18 on the Bund, and they have a nice little dinning room at the top. And it sits only 2. Many ppl propose there... I think that will be more acceptable for my present budget.. hehehe..

Any ideas? I think I might be implementing mine soon.. hehehe :D

Most importantly, find out how many men did she sleep with before proposing for marriage. From my experience, lots of married men were regretted day by day, night after night because knowing that their wife has been sleeping with lots of men. This nightmare will going to hunt you down in your marriage for the rest of your life and I can tell you.

Many (before marriage) men said they do not mind. In the end, they can't stand. Worst, many women "go out makan" though they are married. The major reason is since women had "tried" (before), they do not mind carry-on behind their husband's back. :(

So...., better to find out whether she has slept with other men or how many men she had slept with before blindly propose. :)

I do not agree with you that many men regretted marrying after knowing their wives' past. They should know it b4 marrying during the courtship, not after marriage. Oh I see..... you want the reality ones or the ones you see in movies?

In reality, a guy doesn't propose if he's not sure that the girl will want to marry him lah... and if he's sure, than there's no "getting down on knees with flowers, etc, etc.

For my 1st one, I just tell her to take leave as we will be going down to ROM to register our marriage. Also ask her whether she wants one of her side to be witness, if so, also take leave. :D

Actually the girl is not a problem because you'll probably have already screw the hell out of each other and know when the timing is right for marriage. It's probably how you approach your future in-laws. Your future in-laws may be thinking what kind of wedding you're going to have, what kind or how much dowry you're going to give, etc, etc.

As for dowry, I have one suggestion.

Forget about buying all the gold lah, piglet lah, etc, etc.
Give them a blank cheque.
Tell them to write the amount themselves.
And warn them that..
If they write a small amount, that's their problem.
If they write too big amount and the cheque pock, not your problem.

I used to send love notes to my domestic goddess... yeah, flowers, little gifts (usually cheap but cute ones, heeheehee!!!), small surprises like turning up at her work place to fetch her home... blah-blah-blah! We even have an annivarsary where we visit the place every year where we had our 1st kiss.... :D

Now with children, career, blah-blah-blah... love notes are a rarity and usually surprises and we dun do that only on Valentine's Day or birthdays... That's just so boring and not worth paying a ransom to the restaurants and retailers to celebrate special days like Valentine's Day... :p

My youngest bro had a church wedding with dinner at the botanical gardens for his friends, and then a separate restaurant dinner for my parents friends and relatives.

But if you can't afford it, or you want to use your money for a grand honeymoon (the best use of your money for your wedding), then i guess whether having a wedding dinner or not is up to the couple, especially in this day and age... :p

I do not know whether this is a trend or not. I have friends married much more earlier den me, but they never plan for a traditional chinese wedding dinner. Whether afford or not, at least a simple dinner for both parties is a must lor. :)
