really need help and advice... what I'm about to ask is not related to sex directly in any way....

not sure who to ask, and since the Bros here are pretty much in grip of the market... would really appreciate if I get some feedback quickly...

my wife, is looking at becoming a member in this MLM stuff. Gut feel tells me that this a alot of bull and shit..

had spend the whole of Friday night trying to discourage her... (should have has sex instead.. but got no mood after all the exchanges...hey...here is a relation to sex... as in not getting it... shit man)

she had a chat with her friend for 3hours and some how kannan "brain wash"...

Me hate MLM too !!! Hate their underhand means to get u into MLM.
If your wifey is those type stay @ home do nothing one, let her go and try lor. At least got something to do. Who knows maybe she is the 1 in a 1,000,000 who can make it ?? But if both of u are facing some sort of financial hardship, MLM will not solve ya problem. Yeah, and also if involve in MLM, it will take a lot of her time..... Cos got to call friends, attend meeting, attend talks etc etc.

yes MLM is total crap, there is nothing much you can do lets hope she will come to her senses after lossing both time and money in the near future

Do not fret. Not all MLM are bad. Some sell pretty good products (Amyway).

If your wife is not working, let her try. If she is, then she will have to regulate her time, which is her own doing.

The only thing I would caution you about MLM is, some scheme requires a monthly minimum purchase to be in the scheme. This is something you have to watch out because, if she can't sell, she must buy herself. You don't need 50 bottles of detergent in the house!

From my experience, most drop out after 3-4 months. Hard sell is very tough. People avoid MLM sellers like we would avoid insurance agents.

Suggest you set up certain ground rules. For example, let her try. But she cannot continue to buy the minmum monthly quota if she cannot sell by the 3rd month. Call it quits after that.

If her selling runs late into the night, tell her it's affecting the family life and this is no-no.

Believe me, MLM in theory is very simplistic. It works on a multiplication theory that you would be a millionaire if you can recruit up to certain level and assuming everyone in the level sells the required amount of product.

If it is true, we all will be using the same products in our house.

The problem is, your wife must do it before she will believe you. So let her do it and see that it is not so easy. In future, she will believe you easier.

Take it as a step in your relationship.

I do not know how much you have spend. But I relate mine....happened about 8 years ago. Attended this MLM seminar thing in JB as pestered by my 2 colleagues. (Beside hotel continental.) So farking nice to me, willing to pick me at at my residence. Reached there, was greeted by those stupid malaysian ah bengs dressed in suits and ties keep promoting their "main sure sell" product - the magnetic ion mat, for placing on top of the bed type. Endure almost 2 hrs of their promoting of the product while I slp almost 70% during the talk.

After the talk lai liao lor, say everyone should become their own boss, alot of successful stories by selling this mats blar blar. Membership + 1 piece of mat + 3 days of lesson, with hotel accomodation cost about RM$7380. (That time about RM$2.20 = SIN$1.00. I said no way to them at that time man!! But dun know whether the office got some malay kong tou or what. Dun know how come I still agreed to them eventually. Haizz so kam kong, but I say I dun have the $$ at that time. After some sai gou by them, one of my colleague willing to pay for me first. The course fees to be paid by cash upfront also they settled. After the payment was finalised with refreshment provided, they started to talk about their ambitions of earning $$$ from this product.....

Deep inside me, I have already regretted immediately after the payment. How stupid I am man!! I made the decision myself and I accepted it. I skipped the 3 days course, after repeatedly getting callings from them. I paid up what they have paid for me minus the course fees. After some squabble here and there, friendship has stained. No talking terms, not even a say-hi thing. They still carring on promote their friends in another department, this time more ppl kana this trap. I was thinking luckily I was not the only one being conned. Hehe~ After that incident, these 2 guys were disciplinary dealt with. 活该!! At least something was being done. One fortunate thing is that when I give this mat to my parents. They are benefited from it, (can relieve some fatigue) and nothing has happened to them....till now.

I have to put a post here after seeing so many brother kanna con.
My point of view: MLM is BULLSHIT

1) 4 million people in Singapore, minus the young, old and financially incapable, we may have 2 million left who are potential client to MLM. If let say we have 5 MLM ( I think there is more ) in singapore, each will have a equal share of the 2,000,000 people. Which means each MLM will get 400,000 people. Now how many members does each MLM currently have. Let see maybe 800 goons are already suffering in each MLM. Which means when you join the MLM, you will have 500 potential client whom have not heard of MLM. Will these 500 people all buy your useless product?? And what happens if you recruit more people, they will need their 500 people as well hahahahaha Singapore do not have enough people to reach the target. Probably sell it to your relatives, family members or yourself.

2) If I have a product to sell which is REALLY REALLY good, I will not recruit so many people to sell it. I will get a team of people to sell it of course but the recruitment will be cap so that everyone in the team will earn their well deserve money. If I do not have a cap and I go on recruiting people, soon, they will find it hard to sell the product because too many sellers, too few buyers everyone eat grass.

3) MLM always say they are selling the product directly to you, bypassing all the different level of the market directly to the consumer then why the hell is the product still so BLOODY expansive. Because the money is paid to the different level of the "up line" to draw commission. IF it is directly to me why do I still have to pay so much. Think of the product being sold in supermarket, will you buy it if it is this price?

4) MLM will attack you using "Greed" promising you money and unlimited income without working giving you all the free time you can have to do things you love to do. If it is really so GREAT why isn't everyone doing it? Because not everyone is THINK skin enough and GOON enough to believe them. Joining MLM will not give you free time it will use up all you time instead. You must be a super day dreamer to continue to survive in MLM. That is why they hold brain washing session every now and then to keep members dreaming.

5) I agree that the money is good if you make it to the top but how many people reach the top?? I believe these people are super thick skin and die hard salesman willing to risk their relationship with friends and relatives for the sake of MONEY.

Just my own opinion of MLM. I was approach by MLM many times in the past and I still find them amusing. Sometime it is good to go for the talk and wack those regional manager, regional director, president director etc about their legacy. Its like they strike big sweep and telling you that you should buy as well bcause you will strike as well. Maybe you will... who knows.

But then, no point getting so work up and quarrel with the wife over this issue loh.. not worth it. If she is not working, let her try it out herself and find out herself...

Maybe can just set the rules like:
Cannot ask u or your family members to buy or help to sell.
Limit any selling to relatives, in laws etc
etc etc..

I am sure in times to come... she will find out herself the answer loh.....

Amway - Then at least not so bad. They are more genuine and sells everything from tooth paste to detergent... and most are manufactured in their own factories (www.amway.com). Was introduced to them about 15 years ago when I was in USA. Most of their products are actually usable and not so expensive stuff.
