Hi, I am heading to Shanghai soon for work and wanted to check if any of you know whether the Shanghai airport customs will check on the contents of your external drive or laptop? :confused:

Are you kidding. Everyone carry a comp or ipad or equivalent. This is just not possible. I just came back from Australia and nothing happens

No worries bro., they only look for dutiable stuffs. They are also strict on agriculture products like fresh fruits and veggies.

China customs won't check for that - if at all they check for food but even that is hardly enforced... enjoy your trip!

They practice selective screening...... if you have been to XinJiang or Tibet you will be invited into a private room for a 100% check and interview. :D
