However, I decided to start a new fantasy story about a middle-aged man named Tan Ah Beng... ...My apologies if any bros here have the same name. Anyway, it is just purely a story...

Wake up!!! A loud thunderous roar rocks my bedroom… I wake up from my sweet dreams in Hawaii with all the bikini babes to see a fat old hag standing besides me. That is my wife who I have married for 25 years…

My father-in-law is the chairman of the company. The company is pretty ok with about $40mil turnover year in year out. Basically it is still a family business with my brother and sister-in-law running it.

My wife and I live in a terrace house at Bukit Timah which is given by my father-in-law. In fact, he owned the adjacent 3 units, one for himself, one for his son and another one for his younger daughter. He said that we should live near each other so that our family will be harmonious.

“Tonight come back early, we are going to pa’s house for dinner, said my wife. “Ok, I will try, I said. “What try…you better do it,” She yelled at me. I just can’t be bother at her. It is just another dinner where my father-in-law will boast about the capability and achievements of his son and daughter working in the company to the rest of my relatives. Anyway I am used to it. Everyday, I just hope to leave my house early in the morning and get back late in the night. I feel that I can only get my pride back when I am outside my house.

Every morning, I will hop into my modest Toyota Altis and drive to work. My office is at Tuas. Our company owned a landed office cum warehouse which we keep all our products. “Good morning Mr. Tan…Good morning Mr. Tan…” As I walk through the warehouse, all the workers greet me. I saw a group of them sitting together and I walked over…”No need to work ah?” I said. “Hi Good morning Mr. Tan!” said Ah Huat. Ah Huat is one of our senior store assistant who is about the same age as me. He and I are on good terms due to our same “hobby”.

“What are the 2 of you doing here,” I asked. “We are discussing about Miss Lin,” said Ah Seng who is one of our junior store assistant. “What so interesting about Miss Lin,” I asked. “Today she wears a g-string leh,” said Ah Huat with a horny smile. “How do you know,” I asked. “Mr. Tan, Ah Huat has a pair of bionic eyes…some more she wears a white miniskirt today…can see the lining clearly leh…” said Ah Seng. “Ya, some more she walked until so hiao…the butts swaying from left to right,” added Ah Huat. “You all… very hardworking at this type of things,” I said with a laugh.

In my opinion, he will be the one who will squander away the family fortune. However, there is one thing which I have yet to learn for him is to pretend to be capable in front of my father-in-law.

Although I am his brother-in-law, I am not on good terms with him. In fact, he tends to bully me most of the time, and I have to take the rap for some of his mistakes. Although I am the GM, he seems to trust a junior manager, Kelvin whom they study together in London.

Albert is someone who is flashy and likes to show off his wealth. He droves a Enzo Ferrari and likes to collect expensive watches. Sometimes I wander whether he is making a lot of money for the company. Most of his expenses are charged to the company bill like fine dining, first-class air travel. At work, he doesn’t seem to be capable and a lot of staff is unhappy with his attitude.

“It’s time for the meeting…”said Kevin as he entered my room. “Ok, let’s go…” I replied. It is better to be early than late as Albert is famous for his foul temper. We make our way to our meeting room, a place with contemporary décor which cost about $100,000 to renovate. It is another so called “project” handled by Albert to impress our clients… Actually no staff in the company likes to attend meeting hosted by Albert. This is because he will sure scold someone in the meeting just to show everyone he is the boss.

Everyone sit down at our respective places waiting for Albert to arrive. Today’s meeting is to discuss about the slide in sales for the past 3 months. Everyone is very tense as we don’t expect Albert to be a gentleman today… Albert came in about 5 mins together with his secretary, Deborah.

Immediately as they walk in, my eyes roamed around Deborah’s black tight miniskirt which has a high slit in the front of her left leg. The slit is so high that as she walks, you can almost see her…

“As a sales manager, you have to bring in the sales. Don’t give me all this crap…Don’t think that you have an iron rice bowl here since you have worked for 30 years in this company, “said Albert sarcastically. Mr. Lee remains solemn and his head starts to dip. I pitied him being insulted by a young chap who knew nothing about this industry.

“David…why didn’t you report this matter to me earlier…,” David is my Christian name given by my wife because she feels that my name is very o pian…Oh no, it’s my turn now for the grilling.

“Eh Albert, at first we thought that it is just a dip in sales for one month…we didn’t know that it has developed into a mini trend…” I replied. “As a GM of the company, you should be alert to any unusual developments in the entire company…if not why should you be the GM…” Albert said. Albert just goes on and on… My morale becomes lower and lower…

At last meeting is over…all the staff walk out of the meeting room…I feel very bad after the “grilling” session by Albert but I think most of the staffs including myself are used to it liao…

As I walked out, I can’t help to take a few glances at Albert‘s secretary Deborah... She is 28 years old and has been working in the company for the past 2 years. She marries to Albert also partly due to the wealth in this family. She likes to show off in front of Mary with all his luxury items. Most of the time, Mary will just complain by saying that I am a useless guy, not able to give her what Erica is having.

Although she is at 30 years old now, Erica will be any man’s PCC target. When regular spa and slimming treatments, she maintained her complexion and figure in tip-top condition. Luckily the storm did not continue the next day. As usual, I went to work the next day. As I am making my way to my car, I saw Shaun getting into his Lotus Elise…followed by Zoe.

Shaun is the second son of my father-in-law. He is very playful and rebellious, even my father-in-law can’t take him in good hands. Everyday, he will just enjoy himself with booze, girls and even drugs…Every month, he will just ask for money from my mother-in-law. Surprisingly, she gives in to him every time. “We need to hold more inventory now since our product variety has increased. Based on a minimum 2 months holding period for inventory, our funds will be stuck in the “warehouse”. I explained. “Don’t worry about financing; we will approach some banks to increase our existing facility.” Albert said. “We have to move fast if not this opportunity will slip away. We cannot think like a pig and move like a tortoise now…” Albert said.

Albert is obviously insulting me. Anyway, I can’t be bother because eventually the company will not be mine. Who cares whether it will survive or fail…

That evening, as usual, we are having dinner at my father-in-law place. I reached the place the same time as Albert and Erica. Albert is very proud to tell my father-in-law about his big plans to bid for the sole-distributorship of Simone Foods.

My wife, Mary and Susan are working on the dinner. “Ma…”, I called out to my mother-in-law. “David, so early today ah?” She asked. “It is better for him to be early than we wait for him,” said Mary.

I tried to use the toilet in the kitchen. “David, the flush is spoilt. Use the one upstairs,” said Susan. “Ok,” I said. I walk up the stairs to the second floor… Suddenly, I hear someone talking…

“Is my dear Bernard a good boy today, let mummy carry you…” The voice is very familiar. It is Erica in the room with Bernard. I just didn’t bother her and carry on with my business. After coming out from the washroom, to my biggest surprise…I hear…”Good boy, let mummy feed you ok?” said Erica.

Out of curiosity, I decided to push the room door which is not closed slightly. My god…I can’t believe my eyes. “Mr. Tan, I heard later got a lot of chiobu attending this function,” said Ah Seng. “Don’t know leh. Maybe.” I replied. “Wah if later got those show half ball one will be good,” said Ah Huat. Both of them giggled away hornily. “Erica is here, keep quiet,” I said.

Almost all the distinguished guests have arrived. Not surprisely, most of the male guests surround around Erica and Deborah. I carried my duties by entertaining some of the guests.

“Hi Mr. Chen, how are you,” I said. Mr. Chen is the managing director of the local retail supermarket chain which has more than 40 outlets. Our company is trying to work with them to use their retail chain to distribute our products.

“I am fine. Thanks for inviting me here today.” Mr. Chen replied. “It should be our honor to have you to grace this occasion.” I replied politely. “Where is Albert? I don’t see him around.” Mr. Chen said. “He is here just a few moments ago,” I replied. “Let me get you a drink,” I said.

We proceeded to sit down at a quieter spot besides the pool. “Mr. Chen, have you gone through our proposal,” I said. “I did. To be frank David, is the proposal done by you?” Mr. Chen asked. “Eh…how did you know,” I asked. “Well, such a detailed proposal can only be done be someone who is very experienced in this industry, definitely not by Albert or Erica.” He said. “David, you are a talented man, you should re-consider your position right now. You are a smart person. You should know what I mean,” Mr. Chen added.

I understand Mr. Chen’s conversation. He is encouraging me to do something on my own than to stay with my father-in-law’s company. He is also aware of the treatment I get working for my father-in-law. As we are talking, Erica saw us and walks up to us.

“HI, Mr.Chen…how are you, so nice to see you here,” Erica said in her sexy voice. Hi Erica, you look stunning today.” Mr. Chen said as his eyes scan Erica’s body from top to bottom. “Thanks for the compliment. “You don’t bluff me ok, I take your words” Erica said. “Ok lah. Don’t worry,” said Mr. Chen. “This is good news, maybe we should have a toast to celebrate,” Erica replied.

At first, I thought Erica and Mr. Chen have some “special” relationship but I am wrong. The night went on smoothly until the Chinese orchestra performance. Miss Lin walks up to me and said that she has made a wrong booking date. I am in a panic because the performance is one of the main highlight of the function. Albert walks up to me and asked what happened to the performance. I told him the truth and he went into a fury.

“What, you have booked the wrong date,” asked Albert. “No. I have told Miss Lin to confirm the booking for me but she makes a mistake,” I said. “No, Mr. Tan you have given me the wrong date,” Miss Lin said. I am surprised by the behavior of Miss Lin. I am stunned for a while. “How can you make such a mistake, you are the GM,” Albert being to raise his voice and the guests are alerted to our conversation.

“But…But I did tell Miss Lin about the change,” I replied. “Don’t defend yourself. If your staff makes a mistake, you should bear it as well.” shouted Albert. “I am sorry for the mistake I know it is my fault,” I said as I don’t want to argue with him. “I am very sorry Albert,” I replied. Albert continued to rant at me. Phrases like stupid, useless, pig have been used on me. All these under the watchful eyes of all the guests.

My heart sunk lower and lower. I want to hide but I can’t. I ask myself whether I should take all these insults and continue to endure all these for the years to come. Why does he have to treat me like that since I am his brother-in-law? I am in a dilemma. I really don know how long I can still take it. I can remember the wretched face of Miss Lin on that night. I tell myself to be patient and wait for my chance. I WILL STRIKE BACK AND PROVE TO EVERYONE.

All of us just laughed in amusement.

“Miss Lin, when a worker is unwell, we have to take care of them and I don’t think you need a GM to do stock take for you right,” I said with a grin to the amusement of Ah Huat and Ah Seng.

“Never mind, I do it myself,” She replied angrily. Miss Lin has fallen into the trap of Ah Huat. As she climbs up the ladder, our eyes become bigger and bigger. Suddenly, I realized I am a changed man. I start to think of ways to have power, status, money and women in my life… and most importantly, get back at those who have bullied me before.

One evening, I left my office at abut 9.00pm and realized that I have forgotten to bring along a quotation which I need to pass to a client tomorrow. I decided to make my way back to our office in Tuas. By the time I reached, it is already 10.00pm. I am surprised to see Albert’s Ferrari in the parking compound. As I entered the office, I saw the lights in Albert’s office are still on. As I walk closely, I heard voices…NO…moans coming from his office.

“Shaun has told me that he wants to learn how to do business, I think it is a good time for him to learn now,” he said. “Albert, you must guide him along,” he added. “Pa, don’t worry, I will learn from Guo.” Shaun said. Albert remains silent but he does not seem to accept Pa’s decision.

“As for Zoe, she is my daughter-in-law, how can I still let her go out and work, especially in those skimpy bikini or outfits as a model.” Pa said. “Pa, I am already the business development director, I afraid there may be an overlap in our duties,” said Erica. “It’s ok.” Pa said firmly.

Looks like there is going to have a good show in the office. Albert will be definitely on a “lookout” for Shaun and Erica will for sure “nail” Zoe in the office.

The war erupts during one of our normal meeting…

“Shaun, I heard that that you did not approve Erica’s budget for the distributor’s exhibition in Malaysia,” Albert asked. “Yes, I feel that the budget is too high, $50,000 just for a day event, I think it is ridiculous.” Shaun replied. Erica is fuming. “Shaun, this is the same amount we spent last year, even Pa also approved it,” said Erica. “Yes I know but I think we can do it at a smaller budget,” said Shaun.

Ever since Shaun is working in the company, Albert and Erica have a hard time dealing with him. On the other hand, Zoe seems to be a simple girl, who does not seem to take her appointment seriously. Although she seems to be very arrogant, she is not as scheming as Erica.

One afternoon, we are having our weekly meeting in the company. Albert has hinted that there will be some re-shuffling in the company. Everyone is eager to find out. I am expecting a cross-fire between Albert and Shaun.

“Today, I will be announcing some changes to the management appointment of the company. “Kelvin has done well in helping us to penetrate the Malaysia market. Based on the figures as at Feb 2006, the contribution from Malaysia operations amounted to $10mil of our total turnover. We are expecting this figure to reach $18mil for this financial year close on June 2006,” said Albert.

Everyone is happy about the announcement. However, Albert has not announced the new position of Kelvin. “As such, I would like to promote him to the position of GM,” said Albert. Everyone is surprised by the appointment so am I. Everyone starts to talk among them concerning my position in the company.

I am thinking Albert should be promoting me to a higher position since I am his brother-in-law even though he don’t really like me. “As for David, he will be taking over a newly created position of general operations manager,” he said. I don’t know what the duties for this position are until I received the notice from HR. I am very angry and storm into his office.

“Albert, I need to talk to you,” I said. “Why are you so rude to enter without knocking the door,” he reprimanded me. “I am sorry but I want to know why you have demoted me to take care of the warehouse,” I asked. “Are you sure, I didn’t. You are still the GM just that you are taking care of another area,” he said. “Albert, everyone knows that it is a demotion, why do you have to do this to me, I am still your brother-in-law,” I said.

“Well, Kelvin is more capable than you so you can’t blame me, Kelvin is a Master degree’s holder while you are just an A’ levels holder,” he replied. “Albert, you must at least give face to your sister, Mary, since I am her husband,” I said. “I have spoken with sis and told her about this. Well she has no objections because you will still be drawing the same salary,” he said. “But…Albert,” I said. Before I can finish, Albert ask me to get the hell out of his room.

I slump back into my office chair and think in deep thoughts. What have I done to deserve this? I always give my best to this company yet I am treated in this way. Even my wife is not supportive of me… “You are such an failure Tan Ah Beng”

Life must still goes on. Now being a general ops manager, I have more time with Ah Seng and Ah Huat. Life is definitely much more relaxed as compared to the office environment. Think of it, it may be a good thing for me. Someone who is already a old man should enjoy some peaceful life.

“Can I discuss further with you in your office privately,” said Carol giving a wink to Albert. “Sure…let’s go now,” said Albert with a grin.

“Sorry, Mr. Tan, maybe I catch up with you again another time,” said Carol. Before I can say anything, Albert interferes, “He is just a small warehouse manager who is demoted recently, and he can’t buy anything from you. Anyway, his salary is only $800…what can he do…” said Albert while Kevin and Carol burst out in laughter. Immediately, I can see the change in attitude from Carol. She is giving me the “what the f*&^” look.

After they left, I sighed and sighed. Ah Huat and Ah Seng comforted me. “KNN, this type of f&^% up attitude,” said Ah Huat. “She thinks her neh neh very big KNS…if I got money I sure throw at her and screw her upside down,” said Ah Seng. “Never mind lah. I am used to it liao,” I said.

My HP rings and it is my wife, Mary. She wants to go to the temple and pray. She asked me to chauffeur her there. Knowing her temperament, I decided to obey her.

Aren’t you going down with me, go and park the car and come along,” she said in an annoying way. “Ok…Ok,” I replied. I park my car in the nearby car park and went with her. There are a lot of people today. Peddlers selling flowers, asking for donations and old folks selling tissues papers are common sight. I pitied the old folks and took out some $2 notes to give it to them.

Mary made her way into the temple. Before I enter the temple, an old man walks up to me and speaks to me in hokkien, “Sir, do you want to read your fortune.” As I normally don’t believe in these things, I thank him politely and decided to walk away.

Suddenly, he uttered a sentence which struck my heart. “Sir, your life is easy but you are not happy…it is a pity…a pity.” The old man starts to walk away. I quickly stop him and ask him further. “Sir, could you kindly explain further,” I probed. Both of us settle down at a corner of the busy street.

“Sir, could you kindly help me to read my fortune,” I asked. “Ok…Based on your looks, you should have an easy life even though your family is poor, your wife will be from a rich family,” he said. I started to believe in what he said. “You should be enjoying your life after reaching 40 years old, you should be very rich.” He said. “But it’s a pity, you have a nemesis in your life which stop you from advancing,” he said as he shake his head. “Sir, how should I do about it,” I asked. “The only way for you to overcome it, is to remove the nemesis in your life…then you will…enjoy your life of riches,” He added.

“But…haiz…,” he sighed. “What happened, Sir” I asked. “My apologies…I can’t tell you anymore…because its heavens will,” he said. “Sir, I will pay you more…please tell me…,” I pestered the old man to tell me more. He just got up and walks away. “SIR…SIR,” I shouted. The old man looks back at me and said, “Do more good deeds, it is good for you.”

In the night, I can’t sleep and keep thinking. I start to wonder who is my nemesis in my life…Albert...My-father-in-law?...Mary?...My mind just wonder and wonder. I am supposed to be rich after 40 years old…Why I am still so poor… Who should I remove as my nemesis?

After a long night of probing, I decided to change my life. I do not want to be look down by anyone. I want to be rich and powerful…I want to enjoy my life. I start to think of a scheme to achieve my aim…

“Mr. Tan, I have got what you want,” said Ah Seng as he pass me a envelope. “Gam Sia leh Seng,” I said. “Wah I didn’t know you are into this type of stuff,” said Ah Huat. I just asked Ah Seng to purchase a pin-hole camera for me. “No lah, you will know in the future what I am going to do.” I said.

One day morning, I arrived in the office as early as 6.30pm. While getting Ah Seng and Ah Huat to “jarga” for me, I creep into Albert’s room to install the camera. Being an amateur, I have a hard time trying to find a nice little concealed spot. Finally, I decided to fix up on top of a cupboard on the right side of Albert’s desk.

My HP suddenly went off. “Mr. Tan, Albert is here,” said Ah Seng. I scrambled to look for a place to hid but failed. I dashed straight to the door and decided to flee. As I open the door, Albert is standing right in front of me. “What the hell are you doing here,” he look at me puzzling. “Eh…eh…nothing…I got to go,” I said as I tried to leave the scene. “Wait a minute, you must be up to no good,” said Albert as he tried to grill me.

After this incident, no matter how hard he tries, I just refuse to tell him anything. The matter is known to the whole family, Mary grilled me as well but I just simply refuse to say what I am doing in Albert’s room. As a result, I was sacked from the company.

I am very sad and disappointed. I blame myself that I can’t even do such a simple thing properly. How can I take revenge against Albert. However, my mind is set. Nothing ventures, nothing gain. I collaborate with Ah Huat and Ah Seng to help me. Being buddies, they help me even though they are aware of the serious consequences of losing their jobs.

“Mr. Tan, got ho liao for you,” said Ah Huat. “Simi,” I asked. Ah Huat passed me a VCD. “You go home and see loh, sure see bao marikita,” said Ah Seng. “Porno VCD izzit?” I asked. “Ya but the actor and actress are none other than Albert and Deborah,” said Ah Seng as both of them giggled away. “Wah both of you managed to do it,” I said in joy. “Ya, you have to thank us but doing this for you. Wah , the figure of Deborah is tip-top ah, sibei ho pian” said Ah Huat. “Anyway, Albert boi gan…about 15 mins fired off liao…” said Ah Seng.

“By the way, why do you want to tap their illicit relationship, you want to blackmail Albert ah,” asked Ah Huat. “Well Albert will not mind even if his relationship with Deborah is exposed. Anyway, most of the staffs are aware of their special relationship.” I replied. “Then what you want to do,” asked Ah Seng. “The key person is Erica,” I said with a grin.

A fine day, Albert called for an urgent meeting. He even asked my father-in-law back to chair the meeting. Something big must have happened. “Albert what is it regarding,” asked my father-in-law. “Pa, something serious has happened, let hear the report from Kelvin,” said Albert. “Chairman, over the past 3 days, a total sum of $150,000 has been remitted out from our company accounts to a personal account. These transactions are illegal,” said Kelvin. Everyone is surprised at this event. “Who is the person,” asked my father-in-law. “Sir, the person is Shaun, our finance director,” said Kelvin.

Shaun is very surprised and started to defend himself. He strongly denied that he has done anything wrong. However, Kelvin eventually showed all the transactions to Shaun’s personal account. My father-in-law is skeptical about this as well. Suddenly, the CAD arrived and they bring Shaun back for questioning.

My-father-in-law is angry that Albert has reported the incident to the police. “Why do you have to do this, he is your brother,” said father-in-law. “Yes I know, it is a painful decision but I have to do this in order to send a stern signal to all the staff,” said Albert. Obviously, he did it on purpose and wants to land Shaun in the jail. However, I am interested to find out how did he manage to do that. Zoe who is present, is heartbroken at these turn of events.

The next day, Mary is out for a wedding dinner. I am alone in my house. I played the VCD given by Ah Huat and Ah Seng in my room. Deborah is really making hot. “Cool down…Angry will make you look older…,” I said in a relaxed mood. “I want to teach them a lesson now…,” said Erica furiously. “Wait a minute, do you think Albert cared whether you know of their illicit relationship,” I said. “Do you know that your position now is vulnerable and Albert will divorce with you if you kick a big fuss…in the end what do you get…,” I said as I struck a chord with Erica’s heart.

“What do you suggest then, “said Erica as she cool down. “Well if you are willing to cooperate with me, I can make sure that even if Albert divorce you, you will still be able to reap a huge sum of money from this family, at least you don’t have to worry about your life after that,” I said.

“Why must I work with you, Bernard is the grandson of Koh family and father-in-law dotes on him. I will get my credit no matter how,” said Erica as she took out a cigarette to smoke. I said with a laugh, “You sure you want to wait till that day, what happen if Albert fall in love with someone younger like Deborah and disown you…You will have nothing…nothing at all”

“How do you want me to work with you,” Erica said. “It is very easy…woman has only one potent weapon and that is her beauty…body…her assets obviously, you have everything,” I said as I glanced her from head to toe. Erica smiles as she is slightly flattered by my compliments.

I get up from my seat, walk towards her and seated besides her on the sofa. “What do you want,” said Erica as I seat besides her. “Such a big plan, I must whisper to you so that no one will know,” I said as I am staring at her pair of milky valley…the top creamy part of her boobs. “Sickening, can you tell me your plan now,” She said.

Although I am out of the company, I am aware of the development of Shaun’s case through Ah Huat and Ah Seng. Apparently, we suspect Kelvin has made Shaun signed on some documents which authorized the transfer of funds to his personal account. What a smart move by Albert to remove Shaun from his position.

After investigations are concluded, Shaun, even though innocent, is convicted for siphoning funds out of the company. He has been jailed for 5 years. Zoe, his model wife, is heartbroken and depressed.

“Hello, Erica…This is David,” I said as I called Erica on my mobile. “Hi, what’s up,” she said. “I heard mum is going for a concert tonight, you should know what to do,” I said. “Really, Albert is not at home too, ok…I understand,” she said and hung up the call.

“Hello, Pa…Erica…Are you free tonight, want to come over for a chat,” said Erica as she called my father-in-law. “Eh…Ok might as well since your mum is not at home…,” He said. “See you later then,” said Erica.
