In some schools, the discipline master tells them to take if off and buy a white bra from the bookshop.
There was even a school which did did not sell any in the bookshop and made the girls go braless for the rest of the day!:eek:

The school wants to practise uniformity and prevent distractions, so it seems.

Personally i think its a bit riduculous la. Anyway, when i was in sec sch in the mid 90's, there were only 1 or 2 girls in my sec 3/4 stream who wore a black one. On 1 occasion, there was this girl from the top class who wore a pink cross back one, and she was quite the talk of the town...X-man!:p

Reminds me of when I was in secondary school, cannot wear non-white t-shirts under white shirt. Was asked to remove. I think it is ok since the school say it is not part of school uniform.

I understand the need to conform to wearing school uniform. However, asking these female students to go bra-less is too much. For example, if the student persists, then maybe can put it in the report book/card as committed minor offence or something. This is because after committing several major offence, the school can 'remove' the student due to ill discipline. If their bras are confiscated then at least allow them to buy from school compound like one other school did.

I do not understand why the school does not return them after school hours. What for keep them? To prevent them from wearing it again the following day? The rebellious student can always go and get another colored bra after school and wear it the following day.

I felt that making a gal going around topless in a centre for education is a barbaric behavior. Why go to the extend of shaming the gals and outraging their modesty? I believe it could be handled more rationally. There is bound to be many other ways of punishment that could be adminstrated.

What i had believe all along that the teachers, among all are occupations, are the most immatured lot especially considered the fact that the only "working in the society" that they are exposed to are children/teenagers environment. This is especially the case for those whom, completed their education and went to institute of education and get posted, never work in the society. Of course, having say that, not all are like that, i still have fond memories of very few whom had taught me and command my respect then.

As this "go topless below the blouse if you are wearing colour" is implemented in full force in certain schoools, it implies that it was not the mere decision of one or two staff, which in turn conclude my view that majority of them are still very immature.

I guess these schools gives the teachers, male or female alike more responsiblities to zoom in their vision into what is beyond the gals blouse, having to "carrying out their job" of spoting those who wore coloured tops.

And yet these are the very people that are carrying out the job of educating and nuturing our future generations. A sad day for our future generations.

And they never fail to amused me by coming up with "the school is not named as to protect the gals' identity". If they are really so sensitive and protective of their students, they would not had done this insensitive and outraging of their modesty punishment in the first place. It dun take a non-idiot to figure that they are more concern of drawing anger, uproar and reprimanding from the general public.

Act like a grown-up and stand out for your actions. Isn't admiting your actions and the fighting for the cause part of honesty that is in the core values of the edcuation Manifesto?
