I was working near this Japanese bank at MBFC which happen to be opened with Big Bang. Since then, saw a lot of jap ladies in the area. Not the typical obasan but nice looking milf and syt. Seemed like now not just jap male are transferred from HQ to other countries.
Recently I also start receiving call from headhunter that jap banks are hiring. One thing never change they don't pay as high basic pay like US bank but bonus can be good. Wonder if I can be incentivize with some encounters with jap colleagues? Then it can be compromised.
Any bro here got experience to share?

Jap Corp culture. If Jap boss say go cheong and drink and he wants to include female colleagues, every MF has to go with boss.
So this means got chance to up the female colleagues. Heehee

usually they can be exempted but male employees will be more likely to go la, to show face. in my opinion Korean companies are more demanding about having people attend these gatherings and about having to drink with boss/seniors.

Japanese companies are very hierarchical and emphasizes a lot on conformity and corporate discipline. Even though I am only a part timer in a Japanese company based in BKK I am not excluded from the regimented company corporate culture. Luckily I am used to this kind of discipline having spent my entire career in the armed forces. But turnover is especially high for those not exposed to the Japanese culture.

Very rare to find married ladies working in Japanese companies. There is no such thing as woman's charter in Japanese companies and sexual harassment is to be expected.

Female colleagues NO.... remember there is a hierarchy structure and those of your same level are off limits..... but if she is your subordinate then she's fair game provided both of you are discreet and not create a scandal.
Senior management sometimes borrow each other's secretaries to "work" on "projects" late into the night :p

Never ever work for a Jap co. unless you can tahan being step on and belittle all the way.
i spend 30months in a Jap co. doing regional work. although I have a good jap boss who introduces me to the regional office as the person in charge. those japs will not fully yield towards you. Somehow or rather they will only trust their own race.
there is this pride in them, self believing that they are of a superior race than the rest of the world. I do meet a handful of smart ones who tend to be a little senior in rank and age but there are tons of idiots around who rely purely on carrying balls to rise the corporate ladder. during office hrs you see them wayang, walking around pretending to be very busy. at 6pm, then they will start working, sending emails as late as midnight just to let people think that they are very hardworking.
well to be fair, in terms of benefits and remuneration they were quite generous, fly only SQ, >4hrs i fly J. 5 stars international branded accommodation. Corporate card for entertainment. Per Diem allowances. dinner with boss is always paid by him simply because he is the boss and will hear nothing about letting you pay. once i paid for coffee in the airport, he got so upset and said to me "I am the boss" I pay. hahahaha!!! thinking back it was quite hilarious.
But honestly after staying for 30months i feel that i have lost my sharpness. good exposure and experience. now have kid liao have to change job. ( too much temptations + too much travelling)
i can go on and on about the stuff i go through. gonna be too lengthy. anyways, TS, i strongly do not encourage you to join a jap co unless you can tahan things like "I am japanese and you are not"

Very very true..... they have this "Us - insiders" vs "You - outsiders" mentality towards others who are not Japanese.

Thanks, bro. This is really good insight (non sexual).
I am working in foreign bank and the environment is harsher. Everyone push push push. The fear of being retrenched is in everyone's mind. I had thought joining the jap or local bank is a good alternative as long as I can sucked up with it. 😎

Is there much difference if it's a European, US or any non sg company? To me it's the same thing...u will still be an outsider. How u feel really depends on how much u want to interact with them. Naturally speaking the language helps. To me at Japanese are helping Asians, unlike the whites who are manipulating us.

You've read all the news reports. If you work at a japanese company, and things go wrong, be ready to take the blame for senior management and commit hari kiri or gut cutting ceremony. Also, be prepare to work overtime til you drop dead, and then maybe, just maybe, you'd get noticed and promoted.

Actually I beg to differ, i started off in a local co. with traditional bosses. yes. they are very much traditional and they trust their own FAMILY or those who worked for them for a long time. however if you can perform, we are talking about 6-12 months bonus. they are pretty open to take opinions and suggestions.
then i went on to work for a US MNC, one of the fortune 100 companies. the pressure is intense, but they are very open people, one moment i can be arguing with the ang mos (americans) using all the flowery languages, the next thing you know we will be having beers sharing a joke. the europeans especially the british are slightly more up tight but in no way you will really feel belittled. they do have the respect for Singaporeans.
then the jap co. which i shared. the japs are in the world of their own, IMO they are still living in the 80s 90s where by their technology is superior in asia, but now its no longer the case. the koreans has surpass them long ago. in terms of pricing. just that they are living in denial.
now i am back to the first group i was working for, in a different company.
in conclusion, i would work with the ang mos anytime. NO WAY for the japs. Ever. LOL!

The TS said Japs pay good bonus... Good bonus? Haha don't fucking make me laugh! The Japs are stingy like fuck and pay as little as they can get away with. Yea they pay more than the gahmen but that's only 2 months bonus versus 1 month for the public sector. I worked for a US bulge bracket investment bank, one European and one Jap and I would NEVER work for the Japs again.

Hmm in working in a japanese company but I can't say all is related. Obviously things I can relate to 1) I'm Japanese and you're not; 2) Hierarchical organization..
Other than that, I do go home on the dot, bonus is a 5 month average based on track record, girls... Very few jap girls in my company... One fact that they're quite adamant about is that japanese guys are all hentai! It's either they're open or closed about it..

Japanese are still living in their own world..
Thinking they are the ahead of every race..
The japs i encountered is mostly cmi.
Work like shit, think like shit.
Cannot even get work properly done. They must be robot in human skin. Need to programme then can work if not don't know how to work. .. even my part timers fare better than them..
Think they need instruction manual to work

Mostly agreed with most comments about jap, but I have had the privilege to work with a few very good ones in the past 5 years. They are open, and willing to back me if needed. However, I do not feel the absolute support when going up with another jap of higher rank. It is very unlike the ang mos where they can be open as long as you have a valid point.

There is a huge difference in whether a Japanese company A has locals as part of the senior management and another Japanese company B where the senior management consists of only Japanese.
Company A generally will follow local norms and practices.... these are companies the locals may feel happy working in.
Company B will follow their Japanese culture and practices as practiced back in Japan..... these are companies that locals will regret joining after having a taste of working in them
