From Jan 1, National Development Minister Lawrence Wong will be the new chairman of the PCF Council of Management, while Mrs Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Transport and the Prime Minister’s Office, will be the new chairperson for the PCF Executive Committee.
Mrs Teo will be taking over from Mr Wong, who is the current chairman of the PCF Executive Committee. He helped to oversee the restructuring of PCF’s pre-school services over the last four years.
“I look forward to serve as the Exco Chair to continue the strong leadership provided by Minister Lawrence Wong," said Mrs Teo.
Mr Wong will be replacing Health Minister Gan Kim Yong, who will step down after 12 years of service in PCF. Under Mr Gan’s chairmanship, the number of PCF Kindergartens and Child Care Centres has increased to 369 today, said the foundation. PCF’s first Senior Care Centre was also completed and it will officially open in 2016.
“I am glad to be given the opportunity to lead PCF during the crucial journey of transformation. Through the hard work of both the PCF staff and branch activists, we are better positioned today to cater to the growing educational and welfare needs of our community,” said Mr Gan.
“PCF will continue to do its best to meet the growing demand for preschool education for our children. In particular, we intend to enhance our programmes to support children with special needs and those from families with more challenging circumstances,” added Mr Wong.
“Beyond pre-school services, PCF will also be looking at ways to better support our senior citizens and provide other services to meet the changing needs of our community.”
