I am married in thailand with a beautiful girl. Have plans for a baby. But i am a SG citizen and my wife is thai. If i want to have a child in thailand and return to SG for allowing him to study there what are the avenues to go about.
Another thing, if he were to be born in thailand that would make him a citizen there. Any ways to make him a citizen of SG or at least some form of recognition
of SG status.
Btw i only had a traditional thai wedding.
Sorry if i make u guys bored just couldn't find anything to help me with these doubts i have.
thanks a million

Bro there is already a thread on marrying thai girl, post there later instead.
Anyway, unless u have a legal marriage registered with the registrar in thailand. Your customary wedding is not recognised by anyone in the world except u , your wife and ur wife's family.
You need to get legally married, translate ur thai cert into english and have it certified by the Singapore emb.
only after this, your kid upon birth, can be eligible to application to be Sg citizen by descent.
Already double check with relevent authories, no marriage cert = no way ur kid can be sg citizen, even with a DNA test.

Hope this helps.
An overseas-born minor (child) may be eligible for Singapore Citizenship by Descent under Article 122(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore, if any of the following conditions can be met:
a) Male Singapore citizen by Birth who has a lawful marriage at time of minor's birth;
b) Male Singapore citizen by Registration who has a lawful marriage at time of minor's' birth and minor shall not acquire citizenship of the country he was born by reason of his birth in that country;
c) Female Singapore citizen by Birth and minor born on or after 15 May 2004;
d) Female Singapore citizen by Registration and minor born on or after 15 May 2004. Minor shall not acquire citizenship of the country he was born by reason of his birth in that country; or
e) Male (who has a lawful marriage at time of minor's birth) or Female Singapore citizen by Descent has to complete an additional Annex to the application declaring their residence period in Singapore. The application can only be accepted if the applicant fulfils the requirements stipulated in (a) or (b) of the attached Annex.
The application has to be submitted within one year of the child's birth. Otherwise, a letter of explanation is required for late submission. (To refer to the document list of minor citizenship application by descent, next to downloadable form SCRM.)

I understand you want him to take up SG Citizenship.
Believe me or not, there are some loops holes that can get through. That means dual citizenship! That's all I can say.

If you are not legally married, you need to appeal with a recognised DNA test report which is quite expensive.
Recently there is case whereby the father only want to bring his foreign children to study in singapore but he do not have a legal marriage.
Upon DNA test, it was discovered that his wife betray him. :(
For this, you have to be mentally prepared.

Whether boy or girl, so long as born in Thailand will definitely get Thai birth certificate and stated as Thai citizen by birth.
To change to SG citizen, I already posted the requirements above.

For example where?
Would you jump for joy if your son is born in ethiopia, iraq, iran, myanmar, cambodia, batam? :D

Listen to a guy with true experience.
Never bring you son back to sg or never go and register his birth at sg embassy in thailand.
Once your son is registered with sg embassy.
He is fxxed for life.He will have to serve his NS liabilty at age 16.5 yrs old and all the reservist shits for the rest of his life.
Getting a sg citizenship is very easy nowadays but getting a thai citizenship/PR is hell more troublesome than you think.
Do your son a favour.
Give him the 'freedom' ticket of 'choice'.
I think he will be grateful to you when he grow up.
