On the last lesson I was literally dragging my feet to class, I remember thinking to myself, why am I doing this? to pay money to torture myself? Anyway, I thought I’ll just finished up with it and at the same time tell Mr Lee that I will not be continuing after tonight.

As I took the flight of stairs to the second floor of the community centre to start the last of my “Pipa” lesson, I was dragging my feet and my heart all the way up.

I soon reached class, and upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised to see a tall young female stranger standing in the middle of the class chatting with my classmates. Miss Lin, although a very patient teacher, would always chide me for not concentrating and there were times I make some really bad mistakes which cause her to get extremely angry and frustrated that she would tell me that if I don’t pay attention and concentrate she would stop taking me as her student.

Lesson continues after the assessment and I started learning new playing techniques as part of the grade 2 syllabus. I always look forward to my “Pipa” lessons, now increased to twice a week - every Tuesday and Friday.
