After a good sexitifaction on last Sun, I went for normal explorer of BKK on last Mon because need prepare answer for questions from OC (wat u eat, where u went, any interesting places n etc?).
The stupid incident happen is after i reached Pratunam area, there is a guy seems like very friendly to give me an advice after he saw me caring BKK map, he asked where I go, I said I want to go to Bazaar, so he advise me not to go there if i only want to by small amount because that is for wholeseller, instead he advise me to go visit Lucky Buddha templer because it is only open once a week on Mon only, and Tu-Tu (those wearing blue jacket wiht some police badges) will charge only 40bath wherever i go because of Buddha day, after his persuasion so i decided to take his advice.
After I reach there, not much tourist over there, so i tot may be noon time lesser people, and still never suspect this is beginning of SCAMS, i proceed to make prayer there. I met a thai chinese guy after prayer, he speak quite good english, he claimed he is born in teo chew family, father died when he only 1 year old (I doubt the father he tot is his genuine father, may be actually the neighbour uncler is his father), he said he worked in ST company in Ang Mo Kio, he came back to BKK because one jeweller company having annual sales for public (which they normally sell to merchant like Soo Kee, Lee Hwa, Tiffany & co), 30% discount instead of 130% tax if u bought for personal use, we can make profit if we buy from this company and sell to Lee Hwa & Soo Kee, he even shown me the bill that in US$2550. Immediately my greedy mind took over my normal mind, so i took the tu-tu to go there.
I reached there shortwhile (so it should still at Pratunam area), YinDee Lapidary, one old chinese lady also repeat same story as the chinese guy, said the offer only until 2pm, everyone only entitle to buy 4 pieces from them, she recommend blue saphire because Thailand is one of the country mining blue saphire, if want to buy cheap gems must buy in origin place. In the end, I bought a BHT89,900 bracelet.
I leave there happily thinking if i can get 50% profit then i can come BKK over n over again in future.
I went back to hotel at that night after some shopping, I check in internet about this company, and I realized I already kena conned, it was a sleepless nite, not because of the amount of money but because of my stupidity & greedy. I went back to the company and threathen them I will call police to investigate, although it is useless, thai police is corrupted, they wiill happily collect more kopi money from this merchant instead of helping tourist to get back money, they agreed to pay me back 80% of the money (I ask for 90%, they said only 70%) after 3 hrs argument, they issued me a credit voucher and promise it will credit back to my credit card in 10 days time, I have asked them to clearly indicate in the invoice that they refund me 80%, so tat i can report to SG police & raise dispute to the charge to my card issuer should the credit didn't happened in 10 days time.
Lesson learned, I will not listen to any local in any place I go in future, especially developing country like Thai, they are not Land Of Smile, they are Land of Scams, from jeweller, taxi, pigeon feeding and etc, they are fake buddist, they do not really respect their King, they can tell lier in from of the Buddha & their King photo.

Same kind of jewelery scam I encountered many many years ago when I first cheonged Bangkok. But you were luckier than me, I bought the whole sapahire set c/w necklace, earrings and bracelet. Costs abt 20,000 thb.
I only realised that I was conned when I tried to sell the sapphire at the pawnshops here. When I reported the case to the Thai Embassy hoping to get my money back, the counter lady showed me 2 thick files of reports of jewelery scam lodged by others.

Few months ago , I was conned of 1500 thb in Chiangmai. Got one Ah pek holding a Singapore Passport said he lost his wallet at the market. Need money to buy train and bus ticket back to Singapore. Seeing so old and pitiful, I lent him the money. We exchanged phone nos and he also gave me his address. Turned out that his no. and addresses are fake when I tried to contact him when I came back.

There are lots of scams happening in Thailand. So always think twice before gicing your money or credit card to someone else. The acting skills of these conmen are as good as winners of Oscar awards.

Lucky for me , my friend told me about it coz he was cheated a few months before. This tuktuk told me the same thing - Bhudda day (maybe same guy!) and took me to a temple and I was approached by a guy in a 3 piece suit! I immediatley knew something was wrong coz this guy was in a coat and tie on a HOT Bangkok afternoon! He pretended to know a Mr Lim from some Sg jeweller and I called his bluff and said I knew him to and pretended to call him! When I made my call to another Mr Lim (my friend la!) , he disappeared!

Then the fucking tuk tuk driver still refused to let the fish go and took me to a jewellery shop. Damn , I was being driven to an unknown neighbourhood in a place not familar to me so I demanded he drop me off HERE (I dont know where!) and you could see there was going to be trouble. I shouted and walked off when the tuktuk came to a stop at a traffic light. I was expecting something on the back of my head but I cant look back or he'll have reason to ask me for money (cab fare or maybe further extortion). Luckily nothing happened and I stopped a metered cab to be on my way.

There many more stories - Bhudda Day , magic stones , sick mother , brother moto accident , pregnancy , time share , - you name it , they have the scam for it! I even heard a girl falling and cracking her head and it was flowing with blood to extort money from tourist!

New cheongesters pleae beware - unless you see it for yourself (maybe that even sometimes that can be faked!) DO NOT BELIEVE IT!

Met a friendly middle class thai chinese gal out for a fun evening. Danced with all night, fun evening but she was flat as Don Mueng airport. When lights went out, dunno how to ask her for a night cap (thinking she was non-FL).

Ya, I started late in Thailand about 7 yrs ago... 1st time in BKK, blur like f. Book a free and easy to BKK in SG, including air ticket n hotel, nothing else. Blur blur walked out of hotel, took taxi, went 1 round, reached destination which was walking distance from hotel. Go Patpong, 3 ping pong for 100 thb....:D Those were the days....

I went back to hotel at that night after some shopping, I check in internet about this company, and I realized I already kena conned, it was a sleepless nite, not because of the amount of money but because of my stupidity & greedy. I went back to the company and threathen them I will call police to investigate, although it is useless, thai police is corrupted, they wiill happily collect more kopi money from this merchant instead of helping tourist to get back money, they agreed to pay me back 80% of the money (I ask for 90%, they said only 70%) after 3 hrs argument, they issued me a credit voucher and promise it will credit back to my credit card in 10 days time, I have asked them to clearly indicate in the invoice that they refund me 80%, so tat i can report to SG police & raise dispute to the charge to my card issuer should the credit didn't happened in 10 days time.

This was some 8-9 years back, either naive (or brave?) going "blind" on few solo quickie trips. No sifu handholding like fortunate newbies here.

Bank remittances can be a drag, can get caught up with thai correspondent banks (maybe UOB is ok with thai UOB counterpart). Bank charges is prohibitive, even if TT rate is more favourable.

The cheapest, beside hand to hand, would be getting to a (nearest) Thai ATM and deposit cash. Normally the charges is a few bahts, if within the same province, same bank, no charges. Fastest and instant.

If you know and trust someone, that is going to Thai, let him do it for you. Chances are you transferring to someone with a reputable Thai bank. Your friend can inform you when the cash is deposited and the money will be in that account on the spot.

I got a heads up from fellow forummer that i can transfer my unused bottle from carribbean to Ikafe. I gave my saleslady a call and arrange the necessary. We reach there at around 10pm and was sitted at the right corner of the area near the toilet. First i have to say, the ambience is dull. Gone are the bright lights , big stage, glitz and glamour. It's a shadow of the former self. I was told that will be a lauch party on the 26th but the atmosphere doesnt seem like it will be promising. We proceed with the usual and selected our girls. The line up is not that impressive, surely there are the handful of hot ones but the rest are damm average. At around 12 plus, there are still more than 20 plus girls that are free. Quite rare on a friday night. Not too sure if it was because there were not too many customers or they have quantity. There are probably 6 to 7 coyotes dancing that night. Not too sure if that was the norm. Don't look too impressive. Abit lacklustre. Sound system quite feable. No stomp stomp to make you feel the place is rocking. The performance by the band very average, nothing to really raved about. They should ask their singer to stop wearing the blinking green lighted shades. It can be quite eye sore after a while. I was told by my girl that one of the female singer is from Singapore. Actually wanted to introduce myself and get her a drink but decided other wise. Went to the toilet, even the service stuff in there seem lifeless. No hot towel, no tissue, no massage, no helping you on the tap. Just stand there and look at you hoping for a tip. Maybe a bad day?

Overall, i dont think i will renew my member once all my bottles are finished. It's a decent enough place but then, we don't pay premium price for decent. There is a lack of partying atmosphere. Maybe things will change after the launch party.

My first day 19 nov 2009 at bkk.

reach there at bkk airport from vn airport...wow totally changed from the last airport i seen in 2006...quite nice the interior...

went all the way down with my friend to take the public taxi, the hotel my other 4 friends book for me i think quite far from airport cos about 30 mins journey...somemore the taxi driver drop us at sukhumvit 21 where i should go to 20....cab fare was 305 bahts...

i not so sure the route name, so i ask around, walk quite a distance past the shell station and up a overhead bridge to reach sukhumvit20, walk all the way in, can only see the royal park view hotel, so call my friend to come out and lead us in the correct hotel we should be staying...in fact have to walk all the way to the end then see...

so chop chop, put luggage down, somemore my room is two kingsize bed...

took taxi to soi cowboy, check out quite a few like shark, baracca, etc...imo...barraca quite many girls....upstair the girls at certain timing strip naked....wow....

..to avoid being ripped off... AVOID ALL TUK-TUK and TAXI DRIVERS THAT HANG AROUND OUTSIDE YOUR HOTEL!!! They are like sharks waiting for fresh meat! Be it gems scam or some crappy ap naam place.
Avoid them like a plaque. Taxis in Bkk aplenty (can even choose a newer altis), unlike the many yaya cabbies here or kl. If unsure of location, get thai name (hotel reception can help out) and/or tel no for directions.

Only rare exception was a bored cabbie stationed outside Adelphi Grande soi 41 in Aug, when I realised no small change on alighting at restaurant for eats. He was kind enough to ask me to pay him back after my return to hotel (credit). He deserved a small tip after:D
But me only regular 3 pack from the Seven.

Will be visiting BKK from 4 to 9 December and intend to visit one of the many G-Clubs which never existed during my stint there.

Well, It's not difficult to locate this place. What you need to do is asked someone whom able to converse in Thai (Hotel staff or Tirak), call the outlet to check their location ,& copy the address in thai & show it to the taxi driver. A better approach to ensure the taxi driver knows the place, asks the bell boy from the hotel to inform the driver the location & double check with the driver to ensure that he knows where exactly is the joint situated. That's what I did most of the time when I was in a foreign land. Btw Bro YY, it's good that you can tell us more details pertaining to the location of this joint. Cheers.

The building is on the same stretch as where Annies Soapy Massage is, there is a black tinted windows that you can't see inside. I paid Bht2,500 for one shot, but then again I was already tired from earlier "activities" :D

I think I spent a total of 3 hours with her from 1-4am :) You'll be taken upstairs in a lift, when you walk outside the life there were about 10 girls sitting right in front. Dunno about the roast duck at MK but I think MK is over rated and expensive. Yoawarat at Chinatown does a much better roast duck. There is a small Chinese coffee shop opposite Yoawarat Robinson. Does a good Cantonese roast duck, congee and wanton mee. Sorry can't remember the name but only breakfast & lunch.

Dun go MK instead try steamboat + suki buffet. For easy to find and cheap there are a few joints along Rachada. Have one with fairy lights with a big picture of a pig and another less than 5 minutes walk from Poseidon (as posted by Bro Bushnell). Costs from Bht109 to Bht299 for all u can eat. But if die-die must have MK then there is one at the Carrefour... all along Rachada... can't miss them!

Jap food buffet can try the Emerald Hotel (next to Lord) costs Bht550 or 580 per person or Shabu Shabu (i think thats the name) for Bht299 conveyor belt sushi & shabu shabu at most major shopping centers - Central World (7th FLR) & Esplanade Rachada (basement) confirm have.

Clean massage can try Centrepoint Massage at Siam Square. Slightly more expensive (Bht300 for 1 hour foot) but usually good. Great after whole day exploring the Siam Square, MBK, Paragon, Central World etc... area. If have time can go Wat Poh (as recommend by Bro Playman) for massage + sightsee either by taxi (but next week Red Shirts maybe rally around that area so not so good idea) so take BTS to Saphan Taksin station then a river ferry to Wat Poh pier - fast & cheap.

Can stay near hotel around Sukhumvit area but important is near BTS station to avoid the killer jams. AGG areas of Soi Cowboy and Nana are next to Asoke and Nana BTS station respectively.

MK is like Macdonalds here... its everywhere! Their cold, hard roast duck is always drenched in this sweet brown gravy which I hate. IMHO roast duck, char siew, roast pork etc. from most small hole in the wall stalls in Hongkong is the best! Never fail to ta-pao it back whenever I'm in HK! Heck! Thinking of it reminds me its lunch time!
