It is absolutely reasonable to ask the ML for verification and confirmation bro.
When I'm in doubt about certain areas, I will simply ask ‘’请问那是按摩店还是公寓呢?". The ML will answer either. If it's a "按摩店‘’ reply, I'll just text back saying "不好意思， 按摩店我不去，谢谢‘’. This is perfectly OK, and no one gets annoyed. They all know that 公寓 is the preferred choice of venue for most of us anyway.
