As to the safety of the buildings..... I just learnt how the Thai system for safety checks works.

All building owners are required to inspect their buildings for structurally damages and then submit the report to the government website. I wonder whether these building owners are qualified to assess the damages and will they submit an honest report. You can check the status of your building in the government website and surprised to see almost all buildings were declared as inspected and safe on it. In actual fact several buildings had cracklines and damages so I doubt the owners were honest in their reporting.

My condo was required to be inspected by qualified enginneers before we was allowed back in the building. This took 2 days and during that period, lifts were not operatonal so to get belongings to move to a hotel required stairs. Alot of friends condo required engineers to check before they was allowed back in..
