Goodway is near to many pubs( infront of harmoni) near McDonalds, and as for pick up joint, it is near to Sedona( goldbird). MAssage wise, you have lai lai, bahari, ABI massage.

Goodway also have inhouse massage by name of Taichi. The gals come in for room massage with speicals.

Formosa Hotel is near to many fishtank joints, and the best bet for newbies who want to recce by foot. Also the centre of all the fun.

Hotel goodway use to be named Mandrin Hotel. Famous for being haunted. Until they were told to change name to goodway hotel, then no problems ever reported since then.

Hotel Bali is rumoured to be haunted too.

Goodway is a good choice, but of cos, if you want, you can try Planet too. Novotel is the business class, and Pacfic hotel is for the cheonging ones. I Hotel is one of the top class hotel.

These are the better hotels as far as I know in cheonging area.

THose resort type are far away from the fun pace.

I agree: Spa Secret is a very nice place for clean good traditional massage. The receptionists are sweet polite girls and will make both you and your wife feel comfortable (should you have the insane idea of bringing her with you to Batam).

Nevertheless, it is an old hotel and the furniture is a little old. It has in-room safe. The room rates are still higher, but I guess its because of the location. I do stay there when my plan for the night is pubbing. I pay about S$200 for a junior suite (i like bigger space).

Pacific Palace is good especially for those that wants to go Pacific disco. You get free entry being a inhouse guest there. The room is nice, well maintained and clean. Price reasonable. It also has in-room safe.

In my opinion, iHotel is definitely the best. However, it is probably one of the more expensive hotel in Batam. The room is new, modern, nice and well maintained. It also has in-room safe.

The other hotel to consider is Melia Panorama Hotel......

All info I read here and in other posts of today are correct about top hotels. Everyone has his/her own style, so everyone picks the hotel most suitable for his/her orientation.
Let me add my remarks:
1) Harmoni is the only hotel INSIDE Kampung Bule (the 2-3 blocks with pubs)
2) Harmoni has an EXCELLENT fitness center with pool (available also to non hotel guests by a very modest fee)
3) I personally do not see the need of staying inside Kampung Bule, even if I want to do bar hopping: with only 10k per ride, if I don't want to walk, I move by ojek from Windsor to NoName to Harbour Bay and Pacific and back to my hotel. Distances here are so small.
4) I stay in Formosa. The staff is outstanding: honest, nice, efficient and always smiling to me. The rooms are large, reportedly the largest in this hotel category. They cost only S$60, which compared to the S$200 above makes a good 1.1 juta difference (equivalent to 1 high-level girl from joint). Aircon, clean, safety box not in-room but at reception. Guests are almost exclusively Singaporeans, Indons, Malay. I never saw a single AngMoh there (me the only one).
I prefer to save on the hotel and spend all on ceweks, seafood, various entertainment.
5) Pacific guests get free entry to Pacific disco, but the cost saving is ridiculous: 35k (S$4.5)! Does anyone care?

Hotel Bali, the infamous hotels where a lot of sin-ga-poh lang "housekeep their bicycles".

Another haunted one is Gloris, but these 2 are not hotels, just wisma.

Black Page gives a good summary..but sometimes if doing LT it's good to give the girls some comfort. I am cheonging from the UK this weekend and Pacific palace is offering a cabin only deal up to xmas for 400 000rp per night weekdays

Problem with hotels like formosa if you're a bule is the missing links tend to give you the cold shoulder.

Bringing some decent malt whisky to batam this weekend so if anyone is sick of the nasty blended chivass top me in the kapal putih and Ill offer you a real whisky.
