Update (source - local newspaper):
Batam minimum wage likely to be fixed at the previous amount of Rp 1.31 juta.

The 3-party meeting tomorrow expected to end at lunchtime and demo crowd is expected by then as Union will not be getting the amount they requested. Demo hopefully will be a peaceful one....

Most people will be observing the situation tomorrow morning before heading to Batam for work...

how to support a family...

remember 2 years ago in Pacific, ever book a cewk on saturday nite
from Pacific. Normal day she work at PT (factory) monthly salary 700k,
only saturday nite she earn "extra" as a freelence. booking price 400k.
booking one nite is more than half a month of her salary..

Fix at 1.3juta same as encourage more PT cewk to go into FL line..

If going solo just take ojek and stop around the area amd pretend to walk elsewhere and then pop in to the joint and tell the joint you came alone without supir

Just a word of advice on Cina gals on Batam

Most of the cina gals here are not stupid. They rather marry someone who is rich or well to do, and singapore husbands are 1st on their choice. Some willingly be the mistress, and bore the man a child, provided they give them a house, regular income or some money to do business.

Few chinese work as FL in Batam, most go to disco is for fun, and hopefully get someone to sponsor them obat. Or they accompany men for drinks for a fee. Getting laid is no cheap.

Also, not many are well educated, and they are strew business people. Some are very cunning as well. Dont be taken in by their sweet talk easily, nor you think you can be their boyfriend easily. They have their pride as well, and they can rise their head high if others know of their boyfriends from overseas.

Windsor Park is famous for being mistress living area. Many ah peks or other indonesian men have their 2nd or 3rd in batam, and they may not be necessary be chinese, just that this area is mainly chinese.

In short, dont think they are easy prey. You need to fork out quite a bit to get them.

Update :
Good news. The Governor of Riau has urged the workers in Batam not to demo even though the minimum wage issue has yet to settle down and the Representatives from the Unions has agreed not to do anymore demo (at least for this period).
