I had 2 bad experiences at La Belle in that the papa/mamasan knows that i am the look-look-see-see type and hence ignores me altogether

Not the foggiest idea, as not stayed in either 3.

Why don't you just check TripAdvisor webbie, for some independent reviews. Also check location, BTS etc. You don't want to be penny wise pound foolish to be inconvenienced by commute.

Yes it is very safe as long as you dun get involve with the protesters.

Stay away from Parliament House and National Stadium and everything else is as per normal..... bars, agogos, massage parlours, shopping malls are all operating as usual....... except for the ladyboys in Nana many of whom it seems have become more aggressive and bolder.... the latest I heard about them was couple of nights ago a tipsy but not totally drunk farang was dragged by a ladyboy from the street into the bar and "raped"...... and was then held ransom by the LB and bar owner until he paid up for the sexual service.
