there time you study TT minahs in area still not grown up yet.... as bro JOGK point out that malay start moving in 70s... so by the time their kids grown up is around late 80s to 90s.... and now is full swing....hahah

you are right not only minahs growning in this area... notice also maids are increasing in this area.... some quite chio.... ones....

why HDB wanted to build only 3 blocks of 16 storeys on the hill??
- its was an advertising campagin. Those flats were sold at S$6400 in yr 1964/65 .. most ppl cannot afford to buy and they dun like tall flats .. scare collapse.

Those flats .. blk 81 - 102 .. were built in 1964. Dat time Queenstown was a satelite town aside from Toa Payoh. In order to attract those village dwellers to take up the flats in dat commonwealth close / crescent area .. those planners designed a 3 blocks of high rise flats (higher than those others which are only 10 storeys) on the hill top ... to make it easily viewable from far and to make the area more attractive.
