Johor MIC deputy chief Krishnasamy killed by hitman

This thread is about the crime scene in Malaysia but ended up (in the last few days/weeks/pages) about the pros & cons of Malaysia Vs S'pore ......

So, let's get back to the famous crime scene in malaysia with the report below :-

Report from The STAR dated Saturday 12 January 2008 :-

Johor MIC deputy chief Krishnasamy killed by hitman

JOHOR BARU : Tenggaroh state assemblyman Datuk S. Krishnasamy was shot dead point blank by a gunman in a lift at the state MIC headquarters in Jalan Segget here.

The State MIC deputy head was shot once below the left eyebrow, a mark of a professional hitman. The bullet went through to the back of his head.

Police are looking at all angles and have not ruled out political or business rivalry, or even money lending and gangsterism as motives.

The brutal murder occurred at 2.30pm just as Krishnasamy arrived at the party headquarters for a committee meeting and had entered the lift.

The killer is said to have followed him in and shot him while they were in the lift.

Eyewitnesses saw a man, dressed in a black shirt and jeans, running away from the building carrying a package and a helmet. He then rode off towards Jalan Wong Ah Fook on a red motorcycle.

Johor Police Chief Deputy Comm Datuk Hussin Ismail told a late night press conference that the suspect was in his 30s, medium-built, about 152cm tall and was an Indian.

Cops have thrown a dragnet around the state to prevent the killer from escaping as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi expressed his outrage and demanded that the killer be caught quickly.

Johor MB wants more CCTVs for JB

Report from The STAR dated Saturday 12 January 2008 :-

Johor MB wants more CCTVs for JB

SEGAMAT : Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman wants more close circuit cameras (CCTVs) in the city to detect and prevent crimes.

And he wants the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) to fix the CCTVs after the police identify suitable areas to install them.

“These cameras cannot only prevent crimes but also help detect criminals,” he told reporters during his visit to the house of Tenggaroh assemblyman Datuk S. Krishnasamy in Bandar Putra here Saturday.

Ghani, who was accompanied by local Johor politicians and assemblymen, arrived at the house at 11.30am.

He declined to speculate on the motive for the killing but stressed that it was an isolated case and the police would have to investigate the case in detail.

He added that the late Krishnasamy was a committed MIC leader and a caring assemblyman who was respected by both party members as well as the voters of Tenggaroh.

“Johor has lost a good and caring leader,” he said, describing the slaying as cruel.

Earlier, Ghani met with Krishnasamy's family members to convey his condolences.

Do u think CCTV can reduce the crime rate ? Maybe it would, but knowing Malaysian government , the CCTV will be out of order within months, just like the timer for the traffic light in most places.Again Malaysia Boleh !

Of course the CCTVs will not help to reduce the crime rate in JB/Johor/Malaysia but it will make a lot of Policemen happy because they can now spend more time in the Police Canteen drinking coffee/chit-chatting instead of patrolling the streets

Local authorities get special allocation for CCTV cameras

Report from The New Straits Times dated Saturday 12 January 2008 :-

Local authorities get special allocation for CCTV cameras

KUALA LUMPUR : The government has approved a special allocation of RM75 million for the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTC) cameras in crime-prone areas nationwide.

Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting said that initially, the fund would be channelled to 25 local authorities with financial constraints and based on police statistics on crimes in their areas.

Priority would be given to local authorities in Johor, Penang and Federal Territories before the assistance was extended to other places, he told reporters.

He said the Cabinet approved the special allocation two weeks ago and it would be disbursed to the local authorities identified after several matters were sorted out.

Presently, 12 local authorities used their own funds to instal and maintain CCTV cameras in their areas, he said.

However, some were unable to properly maintain the cameras while others were only able to implement the programme in part because of the lack of funds, Ong said.

you are right KTL. if the CCTV were so good, they already solve all the murders in kl and pj very quickly liao, like canny ong murder and etc. even the toll CCTV cannot capture the jeep picture and driver involved in the mongolian murder, so what is the use of the CCTV? just more excuse to have closed tender for the project and grease the politician's hand with more $$.

Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery

If jobs not qualified to be taken up by Sporean, then by all means let the foreign talents do the job. If theres not enough professional Sporeans for a specific job, then let the foreign talents do it. Specialist and professional jobs like doctors, scientists, biomedical sector to name a few, may consider foreign talents by all means. But I dont see the logic behind foreign talents replacing many jobs which any typical Sporean diploma/degree holder can do. They pay quite reasonable too. So theres no excuse for Ministers to say Sporean are fussy over pay. Thats just an excuse!

Msians are lucky and fortunate this so-called "blessing in disguise" (as one Minister put it) have yet to spread to Msia. Once these foreign talents start creeping into Msia, then my Msian bros, you would taste the bitter medicine which most of the poor (not rich Sporean whose mthly household income $10 - $15K and above) Sporeans had been bitterly swallowing. And because of the many rich PRs (in Spore) who have spending power, thus pushing up all prices of essential goods. Someone here said no matter how bad Spore is, it can still survive. On what? Natural resources? None. Here we only import fm Msia and elsewhere. We are also aggressively importing foreign talents/tourists to compete with the locals in every sectors!

You can say that again and again. See, if one is rich and he mixes with the rich, of course he wouldnt know those low income earner suffering in silence. The unemployed and those employed with low pay and who really find it hard to make ends meet are the one who suffered most. You guys think mthly pay of S$1 to $1.5k alot? Sure, for Msian work permit holders drawing such pay is a bonus once they ex to ringgits. Let me assure you guys most of my Msian friends working here drew an average basic mthly pay of $1200 to $1500 excluding overtime. So you guys go work it out when ex to ringgits. And here we have a guy complaining no jobs and cost of living is up in Msia?? Come to Spore and work/stay here as well. Then he would know hows life here compared to Msia.

Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery

this is just my observation in this thread.....both the M'sian and Sporean Bros are complaining about their own countries respectively and trying to prove that the land on the other end of the causeway is a better place!!

well....like i said...this is just my observation and i'm not trying to say who's right who's wrong (and i don't know that)....but my point is, life is too short to complain about something you can't change!

but interesting views from you guys nonetheless...it sure make this forum more "educational"

it is a long shot bro...a very long shot! but i agree....if you really believe it, then you need to start doing something from somewhere by someone sometime!

however....sad to say....i'm more of a "blend in" kinda guy without much ambition or patriotism, i know our government has it's flaws...every government does, but as long as it is still bearable, i deal with it!

there are much worse countries in this planet than M'sia and Spore, so yeah...to a certain extend...i'm considering myself lucky already!
