I tried to post an update yesterday, and the forums was not accepting the post.

Anyway, the news is - it is closed, as the owners couldn't come up with the 5 mil peso demanded.

So essentially, what happened was as follows:

day 1 - police raid, with legal assistance from some good-for-nothing Organisation called IJM - then they found out that the place had no underage girls, so they arrested the waitresses for 'looking' young, and that included a band member who was playing - incidentally, the band member had worked overseas for more than 8 years, so how old does it make her if she was minor at the time of arrest ?? 8 years old or less when she was singing overseas ???

The staff were all let go, and then the police kept quite, other than the mayor telling that the waitresses have been 'rescued' from forced labor .. (well, they were getting paid, and always there is a huge queue of staff raring to join LAC, consdiring the good pay and tips - dont' ask how the police concluded other wise ..

Then the next day, the police swooped in during day time, when lot of young girls hangout, and all the girls were sent to dental check, where they were certified as minors (I know the saying - don't look a gift horse in the mouth .. but .. )

So the Mayor made an announcement that LA Cafe, which had been a front for prostitution, is being locked.

The same LA Cafe, that feeds a few hundred poor residents in Malate/Ermita, the same LA Cafe that Freddie Aquilar performs every month, the same LA Cafe that was endorsed by Manny Pacquiao, the same LA Cafe that hosts Manila's hottest pool tournemants ..

That's an end for now, but some of the staff are being held - pending the charges to be framed .. the owner is supposed to be lying low, and some of the managers I know had been told to rough it out for 15 days before being released ..

The place is a-la Ipanema - the bar has nothing to do with the girls, but the police are trying to frame the management on pimping ..

BTW, search facebook for LACafe Ermita, and see the staffs poignant and tearful comments on loosing their job - I am talking of the 100 odd staff who became jobless in the course of police action to fulfil the ego of the IJM people who were looking for a high-profile action, and the mayor ..

Just walked pass LAC and it is closed....so sad..my favourite place in Manila is closed.
Maybe try the nearby Amazonia. Anyone has good FL contact pls pm me now as I am bored in need of a release....

Don't go to area 51,it's a dump and everything is more expensive than

miss universal.As for pickup place ,i found 2 casas in makati and the quality

is accepted,only cost me 2500 pesos overnight.i and pactman had a good

time in manila on jun 18-20

Bro, P Burgos is not a place to go alone - if you have been ripped off in Tanjong Pagar or Paramount, you can associate the experience. And Burgos street 2 across is worse

In P burgos, you should pick the girl's number, palm her a tip and walk out and pray ...
