Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery
Precautions when going to JB.
1. Always travel in a group, even to toilet. 2. Change your msia ringgits in spore, despite the lower rate. 3. If possible, arrange msia friends to pick u up at the custom, thus avoid the town areas. 4. Avoid going to City Plaza or Holiday Plaza, anyways the stuff there are not exactly cheap. 5. Avoid speaking to strangers, best avoid english all together. Dialects would be best. 6. Try to speak with a msia accent when speaking in mandarin. 7. Avoid taking out wallet everytime u want to buy something. Keep small change in pocket for easy access. 8. Avoid using high tech HP, use basic phone in JB. 9. Avoid using MP3 or highpod players when in JB, from wat i saw on JB street, not many use them in public. 10. Lastly, NEVER BRING GF OR OC THERE FOR WINDOW SHOPPING. |

Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery
there is a few incident i met in jb.in the past while i'm waiting for my friend alone a skinny guy come over and poke a knife behind my back and i was fast enough to turn ard and punch him on his face and whack him at that time maybe bcos young and ignorant, then there was alos one time with my wife, this time two of them coming to my car, when i saw them from side mirror i ask my wife to close the door quickly but too bad she is slow(one on her side while the other on my side)then the on my side told me they are from penang and they are broke and they need 'bus fare' so at that time lan lan cos my wife the other side also got a fellow then give them 50 riggit
KNN they request another 50 riggit,i stood up in front of the man and ask the other to leave my wife alone nut they didnt oblige so in the end i obliged and give them another 50 riggit.another incident is,when i'm in the q at malaysia custom(after caltex station) n there is heavy jam,so wind down window and smoke.as there some ppl crossing the road and didnt think too much.then this fellow(not those taking a cup wans) come over to me and ask for bus fare again.at that time i told him i dont have any $ with me and he said he had ask for some $(show me) liao and only short 10 riggit for him to buy a ticket.then think 10 riggit ok lah, then pass him 10 riggit and he head to the travel agent straight away. another incident was "robbed" by uniform robber which is the police.he accussed me dangerous overtakling while i was not.then to save any unwanted troble give 50 coffee $ to the "robber" although we know jb is dangerous but still lot of s'porean keep going.for those who still going just be careful and stay fxxking alert at all time and try not to hang ard at shoping area.for those who go for petrol like me,just go to two petrol station(shell n caltex) near the cstom as the pump attendant will collect the $ from you(less risk lah) and you just drive back home straight away lor dont try going to makan or what ever lor as to lower the risk. |

No point asking your fellow S'poreans to boycott JB/Malaysia because no matter what S'poreans will still come over to JB/Malaysia because of its many 'attractions' and 'cheap' things/food/entertainment/services, etc, etc, ......... |

Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery
Reminds me of an similar incident a few years back but with a very different ending.
I had gone to JB with some friends for cheonging and stayed overnight. Next day still got time to kill before returning to s'pore so went to play snooker at that old building next to city square. After a while felt hungry so I went to KFC alone to eat while my friends carry on with their game. While eating my fried chicken.... one guy came and sat beside me and asked for $$$. He had rolled up newspaper tucked in his waist and I could see a handle from the opening so I agar agar he was carrying weapon. I took out 50 ringgit but didn't give to him.... instead I placed the $$$ on the table infront of me. As he strectched out his hand to take the $$$.... I plunged my fork into the back of his palm with force.... that motherfucker screamed as the fork pierced through his palm..... I followed up with a kick to his groin and another into his chest. He went sprawling across the floor. He was still lying on the floor when the mat police arrived...... they recovered knife with a 6 inch blade inside the rolled up newspaper. Sometimes you cannot give face to these bastards..... they like to harng u but become macam tikus when u fight back. bro snakehead |

Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery
Bro snakehead u damn fierce.
But i wont recommand your method, as many things can go wrong. If u miss with your fork, u would have stare at a 6" blade on your throat. Although i no longer cheong JB, i do occasionally do some shopping at the Giants there. I will just head straight to the Giant at skudai, get what i want, pump petrol and head straight back to Spore liao. No longer will i go find makan, too dangerous liao. Even my JB friends advise it not safe to go there. No choice had to go as milk powder really cheaper by $4 per can at msia. Just one trip can save $50.00 for a 3-4hrs trip. |

Not saying LKW has no foresight but in this case, it is really a matter of the Malaysian government not doing enough to tackle crime in JB all these years.

Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery
I believe that corruption could be one of the reason why crime rate is high in JB. For example, maybe if you are caught for a minor offence like robbery, you may be able to offer some cash to the police and get scot free.

Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery
Not only Singaporeans, Malaysians are also afraid too. Robberies happens in many places, petrol station toilet, rest stops, road side. You ever seen Malaysian cars with steering wheel locks in shopping centers carparks? Not in Singapore, though. Yesterday, a 20 years old university girl was raped, sodomised and murdered in her rented house in Cheras. Just imagine the brutality of these criminals. We are just so lucky to be born and living in Singapore.

Re: Please be careful - Daylight Robbery
Its common thing now in JB. City Square mostly targeted due to high frequency of Singapore travellers there & Chinese. Damn, why did Temasek invested in this type of place in the first place! Anyway I can not help you anyway but to up your points brother, please accept my sincerity!

University student raped and murdered in house By : Alang Bendahara and P. Chandra Sagaran Email to friend Print article The victim’s mother, Kong Su Har, reacts upon getting the news of her daughter’s death. (Inset) Tang Lai Meng KAJANG: A Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman student was raped and murdered in her rented house at 9th Mile Cheras here yesterday. The body of the 20-year-old woman, identified as Tang Lai Meng from Taman Wang, Menglembu in Ipoh, Perak, was found half naked in her bedroom by policemen responding to a call by her neighbour. The neighbour, in his 50s, said he was strolling along the back alley of the double-storey terrace house in Jalan Putera 4/1, Bandar Mahkota, about 11am yesterday when he suspected that there could be a break-in. "The bottom part of the door grille was prised open and several window panes were removed from their slot. The window grille was also prised opened," he said. As his house was burgled several weeks ago, he decided to call the police to check. "When the patrol car arrived, the policemen found the front gate and door were unlocked, so they entered the house to check and found her body," said the man. Kajang police chief ACP Rosli Mohd Nizam said the woman was found lying sideways on a bed in the master bedroom on the top floor. "Her hands were tied at the back and she was only wearing a T-shirt. We also found a pillow case around her neck." Rosli said initial investigation showed that Lai Meng was raped and sodomised. It is believed that she was later strangled to death with the pillow case. He said there were no signs of a struggle in the room and the front door lock was not broken. Rosli said police found Lai Meng’s UTAR student card in the same room. It stated that she was a second-year Bachelor in Business Studies (Business Administration) student at the university’s Bandar Sungai Long campus. Rosli said police believed there was more than one person involved in the murder and they had lifted several fingerprints from inside the house. The body was taken to the Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem. Another neighbour, M. Meena, 44, said Lai Meng had just moved into the house about three months ago along with a couple. The housewife said the last time she saw the victim was at 7pm on Wednesday when she returned home in a Toyota Vios which was now missing. "She never left the house after that. That was the last that I saw her." Meena said the couple who had stayed with her in the house had a Proton Waja, which the police are looking for along with the Toyota Vios. Meanwhile, the father of the deceased, Tang Ah Weng, 46, was stunned when media representatives went to his restaurant in Bandar Baru Menglembu in Ipoh to interview him on the tragic news. The father was unaware of the incident and, on the suggestion of oneof the journalists, made several calls to friends and relatives to inquire on the fate of his daughter. Tang went to the Menglembu police station about 3pm to make an inquiry but failed to get any information. "A policeman came to my shop at 3.45pm and told us there was a murder case in Sungai Long but police could not identify the deceased as there were no identification papers." One of his relatives then called the Kajang police station and was told the bad news. The relative later informed the distraught father. "I last met my daughter on July 22 when she came home to collect her examination results from Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman in Kampar." Lai Meng had completed a diploma course in business administration in Kampar, before she continued her degree studies in UTAR. Tang described his daughter as an independent person who managed to find her own accommodation in Sungai Long after she was offered a place in UTAR. Lai Meng enrolled in UTAR on May 28. She has an elder sister and a younger brother. The younger brother helps their parents in the restaurant.
