So best solution is to just give guy the S$2 and close shop.

I am sure some bros out there hv sure experience the following: kena immigration con. Those immigrasi bastards are always on lookout for SG passports with the slightest flaw. Most common is that some goondus never check ppt got 6 mths to expiry date rite, so after sit ferry all the way to batam, the immigrasi f***er looks at u rigidly and then tell u that u have to good back SG. Kena sai, rite. So he looked all serious and ask u to go inside room or tell u off. Ahhh, here is how it works! Regulars will know just put in $10 note in ppt will suffice but for newbies, they make u kan cheong and piss in yr pants then eventually ask u to pay more money then can pass thru all fine and dandy. I ever see one sotong bugger pay $50 bec he got set up this way by the immigration officer. Welcome to batam!!

You are right brother, I also got this sort of experience before. When that idiot saw my photo on my passport slightly detached, he said 'You go back'. Knn, but when I shafted $20 into my pass port when I pretended to check my photo, he smiled and said 'Welcome to Batam'.

aiya, btm begitu la. kasih $2 dia minta $10. Butoh. Kalau boleh, kita tanya dia "puki mak lu, pergi mati". But dia pakai uniform got some powder la and knn, go batam sure one day kena encounter same immigrasi pak again, chiat lak la, like that.

I also understand yr experience. Batam sometimes ironic things happen. For eg, I once went for traditional urut in massage place behind Hotel Gloris, after massage offer the cewek 10k rp tip, knn, she turned me down and ask for 20k. ccb, i told her pergi mati, tak mau sudah! give them tip also can bargain for more! this is land of batam!! haha..

Now, let's get things cleared and sorted out...
What I'm trying to indicate here is that, if you do not do anything wrong, or have nothing wrong with your passport, no body can deny you entry into Indonesia.

But if you have things/problem like, expiry of passport in less then 6 mths, torn, photo detached ect, in your passport, then the immigration officer has got every right to stop and question you, or even deny your entry. Take for instance if an Indonesian trying to go in to Sg, and let's say his passport has got less then 6 mths to go. The Sg immigration officer will be doing the same thing to him and more then likely he would be sent back .(full stop)
But if that happened in Batam Center terminal, very high chances is that you'll still be able to get in, go to your discotik and fuck your FLsss song song sampai pagi. All with a little S$ spent which will help you go a long way, it's should be taken as a win win solution, don't you think so...?

Then there's another part of the story when everything was intact/alright, and guy still trying to ask for $. This is what I meant earlier by, if you like his face, give him $2, otherwise tell him - "sorry pak, tak ada wang kecil, lain kali aja ya...", and just walk off. I'm very sure that if you talk nicely to him, he won't (dare) go create a scene as after all, he have nothing to hold against you.
