Police nab e-scooter rider who allegedly hit woman in Bedok
15 Mar 2018 02:13PM (Updated: 15 Mar 2018 04:47PM) SINGAPORE: A 23-year-old man suspected of knocking down a woman while riding an electric scooter has been arrested, said the police in a news release on Thursday (Mar 15). He was arrested along Bedok North Street 3 on Wednesday, one week after the alleged incident. The police said they received a report on Mar 7 that a woman had been knocked down by a man riding an e-scooter along Bedok Reservoir Road. The woman sustained head injuries as a result of the accident. Family members had posted on Facebook over the weekend that the woman, 45-year-old Goh Lay Yong, had been admitted to the intensive care unit at Changi General Hospital. Speaking to Channel NewsAsia on Thursday, Ms Goh’s aunt shared that her niece had to have a portion of her right skull removed to alleviate swelling, and is currently fitted with an artificial skull. Future surgery may also be needed, said the aunt, who identified herself as Mrs Ong. Ms Goh is still in intensive care, and although still weak and unable to talk, her condition is improving and she has been "responsive" to friends and family who have visited her, her aunt said. Ms Goh is also still on a liquid diet, but the family is “happy” with the progress she is making, Mrs Ong said. Mrs Ong told Channel NewsAsia she hopes that this "sad" incident will serve as a cautionary tale to other electric scooter riders. She also called on the Government to tackle the issue of errant electric scooter riders. “We understand that this transportation is helpful for those who have difficulty moving around. But [these electric scooters] should only be used by those who follow the rules, and not modify them.” Read more at https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news...bedok-10045606

Re: Ride e-scooter in the expressway
These should be on the roads!!! With a speed limit of 20km/h when the rider knocks down a person how to justify in court?!?! The rider will protect and claim to be within speed limit but truth is these monkeys modify the bikes or scooters!!! Use your brain!!! Waiting for more people to die then take action?!?!

E-scooter rider 'knocks down' elderly woman before speeding off, police investigating
By Nurul Azliah Aripin 18 Apr 2018 08:41AM (Updated: 18 Apr 2018 12:08PM) SINGAPORE: An elderly woman was left with a cut on the nose and bruises on her hip and leg after she was "knocked down" by an electric scooter rider, says her daughter, who is appealing for witnesses to the accident to come forward. Both the rider and 65-year-old Mdm Lee to fall onto the ground leaving her injured, said a Facebook post by her daughter, Ms Sharon Sim. Police are investigating the incident, which took place on Tuesday (Apr 17) afternoon at Blk 538 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5. Madam Lee was going to pick up her granddaughter from the childcare centre and was meeting her husband, Mr Edwin Sim, downstairs. She was walking out of the lift when the e-scooter hit her from behind, Ms Sim said. Five Institute of Technical Education (ITE) students who were in the area bought plasters from a nearby shop and helped Madam Lee by applying one on her wound. "Mum grabbed (the) rider to prevent him from escaping but he rode away quickly," Ms Sim said in the post on Tuesday evening. "Dad gave chase and last saw rider riding towards (the) junction of Avenue 3 where Ang Mo Kio Police Station is located." The students asked Madam Lee if she would like to make a police report but Madam Lee refused as she wanted to pick her granddaughter, Ms Sim told Channel NewsAsia, calling the students "very helpful". She was "shaken" by the incident and her blood pressure has "spiked", said Ms Sim, who only found out about the incident when her parents picked her up from work later. Read more at https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news...g-off-10147812 This is such an irresponsible behaviour of the e scooter rider . I hope the police catch him and give him the maximum punishment .

Re: Ride e-scooter in the expressway
It would never happen. You think Minister and family would walk on the pavement meh ?! Pavement roads are for common people. MP and family would have secret service men clear the way and sweep the road before their royal feet touch it, all paid for with the common folks GST, ERP, and COE
