The stall can trace its origin back to the 60’s when Mr Lee Kian Huat’s father starting selling lor mee from a push cart along the back lane of the Jit Poh Building. They moved to Amoy Food Centre in 1982 and at the time, Amoy St was famous for two lor mee stalls. Yuan Chun lor mee was on the 2nd level while they were on the first. In 1997, they switched to selling fish soup because Mrs Lee was pregnant with her first child. The couple decided to resurrect the old lor mee recipe 12 years ago when they moved to their current premises.

Been hunting for them all over the island. Used to buy from them when young.

I am actually looking for this restaurant called shanghai songje which i know was at the corner of geylang lor 13 and geylang road. This restaurant is famous of its crab dish called XiangLaXie. However this restaurant is no more in Lor 13. So i wonder where is it relocated to. I love their XiangLaXie.

Very delicious! I'm looking for them too

Looks really good.

When i was a little boy i stayed in lorong limau, near the current whampoa market. Those days in the 1960s, wanton mee dry or kolo mee was sold by cantonese people in a push cart. A plate cost 30cents. The standard kolo mee on top they put char siew and vegetables, very nice. Looks a little like this picture.

For those who hv stayed in lorong limau in the 1960s, you will surely know the very famous "kai chok" (chicken porridge) that will arrive every evening and when he arrived, 2 blocks away, you can smell the fragrance of this great kai chok. Another great dish here was the prawn mee soup where a man will arrive carrying those mees on a bamboo stick balanced on his shoulder, the prawn soup was dark in colour at 15cents a bowl, we call this "hay mee".

Re: BEST FOOD DISCUSSION - Palatable, Savory, Delicious Food Found In ASEAN

One of my favourite dish is the sichuan chilli fish head served at a sichuan restaurant along the main road near under this bridge at chinatown peoples park complex.

Everyday, this sichuan restaurant is very crowded as the food is good and price is reasonable.

This chilli fish head cost $16 and can easily feed 3 persons.
I always ordered with a small bowl of rice, very delicious.

Bai Nian Yong Tau Foo (#01-106)

Albert Food Centre
Address: 270 Queen St, Singapore 180270

Despite its traditional name and logo, Bai Nian Yong Tau Foo actually challenges conventional Hakka Yong Tau Foo, which the owners described as either too meaty, or too fishy due to the overwhelming prawn, pork and fish paste. Gone are the days of big, chunky pieces of yong tau foo – here, their yong tau foo are all bite-sized so you don’t feel full too fast! The pieces of yong tau foo also pair nicely with the springy fine bee hoon and light, but flavourful soup.

Re: BEST FOOD DISCUSSION - Palatable, Savory, Delicious Food Found In ASEAN

Since Albert Food Centre had been eating at his stall for years.

Say Seng Cooked Food
Pig Organ Soup, #01-92

Are you a fan of pig’s organ soup? Well, there’s a popular pig’s organ soup stall right here in Albert Centre Food Centre! The long queue of customers go after their peppery pork organ broth, which is cloudy from its continuous boiling. It comes in a huge serving of various pork organs and sliced pork. Also, try their exclusive braised wild boar belly that is only sold after 4pm and sells out quickly. So be sure to join the queue early to get your hands on these dishes!
