Re: Foreigner Wife
Okay, I am intending to marry a PRC girl. I have been working in China since 2003 and paying taxes over here. Her parents want me to get the PRC marriage cert over here, do I still have to go to ROM in Singapore to get a Singapore marriage cert?
Also, she intends to find work in Singapore, does she return with me on a normal tourist visa and I go to MOM to seek permission to marry etc.....then after our marriage is registered at ROM convert her tourist visa to a dependent's pass? Can she look for employment here on a dependent's pass? I am confused bro? Any advise? Whats the best way? She doesn't want to be left alone in China when my work contract here expires? |

i did not submit my tax for the last 2 years as a selfemployed.i only resubmit this year.and when i apply LTSV.the 'NOA' from IRA was not ready,so i only submit 1 year of 'NOA'.i think that the reason for being rejected. ica gave 6mth social visit pass to look for a job and apply work permit i think this is base on my wife qualificatiion.but the letter also state that if within 2 months i did not apply for the 6 month social visit pass the special 6 months grant will consider as concealled. |

To answer your question "do I still have to go to ROM in Singapore", the answer is 'you may do so'. However, there are complicated legal issues involved. You have to think twice to get registered in ROM. I am not discouraging you. Those who (S'pore man marrying foreign bride (e.g. PRC)) have gone through ROM, (unfortunately, in the case of unsuccessful marriage) they will tell you the real bitterness.

Re: Foreigner Wife
wah liao , applied for my wife LTSVP 3 months ago and got a reply today, and her Long term has been rejected without any reasons.
After applying for her 3 mths ago, 2 weeks later I applied PR for her.... Now the chances are SUPER slim. I mean, if they reject LTSVP, what more about her PR status. sigh... I've considered approaching MP for this but if EVERYONE does this, then why should we go to ICA in the first place. sigh... dunno where to let go my stress. |

I just DON'T find the logic when they rejected the application LTSVP / PR . I've met people who earns as low as $1400 and yet they're still able to get PR for their wifes. (no, she's no graduate or any thing). I've met PR citizens who applied "For the FUN of it" and got it on the first try and they have NO intention of staying longer and calling this country their homeland. I've met people who are PRs here for the past 10 years and LEAVING Singapore. What can the MP do other than write a letter to ICA. Nothing else, the decision STILL rests on ICA officers. |

Foreign Wife Others
Quote:
I agree cereal-killer! It is VERY true. Chinese mainlanders are alot like this. NUS, NTU, SMU pay tuition fees, scholarship and even subsidize for these foreign students, once got their PR and say bye-bye. Nowadays, lots of foreign students (especially mainlander Chinese) coming to Singapore for studies. I have met and talked with many Chinese mainlanders working in local shipyards and those Chinese mainlanders managed to secure scholarships from shipping companies (e.g. shipyard). These shipping companies are so kind and offer them to pay fees for them. Once they completed their bond for two years and after getting PR, they are saying goodbye to Singapore! Worst, some already got their PR before they graduate! Long ago, I interviewed three chaps from SAFTI OCS at different occasion. They were grumbling to me that Chinese mainlanders commissioned in SAF as officer and they have no intention of staying in Singapore at all! I have traveling around the world. Singapore PR is the most easy to get. Free-flow like water! Most difficult PR to obtain should be Malaysia’s. And I doubt not many Singaporeans want a Malaysia’s PR. Even if yes, believe me or not, it is "super hard" tough to apply Malysia's PR! Surprisingly, United States’ PR is much easy to obtain than Malaysia’s! I think ICA is the one to be blamed. I suggest PR can be placed in separate categories (e.g. long and short term). The short term can be treated like a VISA and can be extended on conditional basis. For a long term PR (also with 10 years expiry date) can be issued to foreign wife marrying to S’pore man. Quote:
I think we can resume discussion relating to this topic.
