The newer SE firmware does not allow the sound to be turned off even in silent mode.
If you feel rich and desparately have the urge to snap quietly, you can make a call (eg to VM) and quickly then turn to CAM mode (eg via shortcuts). and 'SNAP'.
There will not be a 'ka-chak' sound anymore. It works for SE k7*i phones at least.

hmm.. mine doesn't....it's firmware is R2AE033......from the net...it seems to be the latest .

Anyway.....if it does turn of the sound......then lucky you

It seems SE will no longer allow this in the future firmwares...... to deter pple snapping voyuer shots from phone cams.
