Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Loser of the FA cup finals gets the europa league spot if the winners are already qualified for a european spot.
The only way we get in by 6th spot is for Birmingham to fail the financial standards set by UEFA. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Remaining fixtures:
Apr 23 Liverpool v Birmingham - 3 May 1 Liverpool v Newcastle United - 3 May 7 Fulham v Liverpool - 1 May 15 Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur - 3 May 22 Aston Villa v Liverpool - 1 Total: 11 pts END OF SEASON STANDING: 60 PTS Apr 17 Postp Manchester City P - P Tottenham Hotspur - 0 Apr 20 Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal - 0 Apr 23 Tottenham Hotspur v West Bromwich Albion - 1 Apr 30 Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur - 0 May 7 Tottenham Hotspur v Blackpool -3 May 15 Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur - 0 May 22 Tottenham Hotspur v Birmingham - 3 Total: 7 pts END OF SEASON STANDING: 60 PTS Seems like we still have faint hopes of finishing 5th. Spurs are 4 pts clear of us with 2 games in hand. Will need a spectacular crash to overhaul them! Above is my slightly biased prediction of final outcome ... which Pool finishes level on pts with Spurs but end higher on virture of goal diff!!!

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Carragher confirms swift recovery
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/st...-heads?cc=4716 'However, the former England defender was able to recover in time to watch the dramatic final 10 minutes, which saw Dirk Kuyt answer Robin van Persie's penalty for a 1-1 draw, and he now expects to be fine to face Birmingham on Saturday.' "There has been a great togetherness. I think that's come since Kenny has come in and everyone is together now," he said. "When you have that togetherness you can achieve things. It's like the late penalty we got - you don't get that if you don't have togetherness and a spirit to not want to lose. "You look at how young the team we had out there at the end and the way we kept going. There's a feel good factor which has been strengthened with our last two performances and we just want to keep it going now. GREAT RECOVERY, (ASST) CAPTAIN MARVEL!!!!!! HOPE TO SEE CARROLL BACK IN ACTION SOON TOO!!!!!

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Quote:
Qualification for European competitions As of the 2009–10 season qualification for the UEFA Champions League changes, the top four teams in the Premier League qualify for the UEFA Champions League, with the top three teams directly entering the group stage. Previously only the top two teams qualified automatically. The fourth-placed team enters the Champions League at the play-off round for non-champions and must win a two-legged knockout tie in order to enter the group stage. The team placed fifth in the Premier League automatically qualifies for the UEFA Europa League, and the sixth and seventh-placed teams can also qualify, depending on the winners of the two domestic cup competitions. If one of the cup winners qualifies for Europe through their league position, the sixth-placed team in the Premier League will qualify for the Europa League. If both of the cup winners qualify for the Champions League through their league position, the sixth and seventh-placed teams in the Premier League will qualify for the Europa League. If either domestic cup competition is contested between teams outside the top four league positions, the winner will automatically qualify for the UEFA Europa League regardless of their final league position. A further place in the UEFA Europa League is also available via the Fair Play initiative. If the Premier League has one of the three highest Fair Play rankings in Europe, the highest ranked team in the Premier League Fair Play standings which has not already qualified for Europe will automatically qualify for the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round. Europa league place - 5th place, carling cup (Birmingham) 6th place or FA cup winner (Liverpool have chance if Man City win FA cup) fairplay (Fulham) |

So let's hope that City don't do an Arsenal (whom we have to thank for Birmingham's Carling Cup win). |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Hahaha ......
Call me unrealistic ..... me was hoping that both spurs & man c lose all the rest of their games .... and we manage to squeeze into the 4th CL spot .... wahahahahahaha No harm dreaming |

So for Liverpool to qualify for Europa cup in 6th place, then Man City have to win the FA cup AND finish in 5th place.
