Thumbs up Downtown Line goes Down --- SBS blames "Children"..... toyol kui-kia is it?

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

SINGAPORE: Services on Downtown Line 1 were disrupted on Friday at around 9pm due to a power fault.

In a statement, operator SBS Transit said 50 passengers on one train were detrained at Bayfront Station.

Full service resumed at 10.10pm.

SBS Transit said based on CCTV footage on board its train, it appears the power fault may be the result of the activation of the detrainment door device.

SBS Transit noted that there were some children playing around the detrainment door area.

CCTV footage showed a girl appeared to have accidentally activated the detrainment door device which caused the emergency brakes to be automatically applied.

This resulted in a tripping of the power supply to the line which is a safety feature of the system.

SBS Transit said it is still investigating the incident and apologised to all those affected.

Downtown Line 1 was officially opened on December 21, and services were disrupted on its first day of operation on December 22.

Train services were delayed for about 15 minutes between Bugis and Chinatown stations.

Rides on the new line are free of charge until January 1.
