Just curious. A few unfortunate racist posts in this forum. I am Chinese bro and I enjoy being with girls of my own race. Once in a while there is a very chio minah or Indian girl that i'm attracted to. But mostly not. Never dated outside of my race.

Does race matter in Singapore? I think it still does. Yes you can fall in love with anyone but interracial couples are still judged, mostly by their own races actually. I know Chinese families don't like their girls to date Indians or Malays. And the Indian families I know don't like their children with Chinese.

Eurasians are like the high class race. Dating them is actually OK for some families. Not always the case but this is from experience I know. What do you guys like? What are the pros and cons of interracial couples in Singapore?

i think interracial couples r frowned upon more w the older generation. pp these days r much more open n accepting.

but of cos families don't condone interracial dating for many legit reasons. every race n religion hv diff believes, culture and way of life. i guess when it comes to marriage n both families hv to "blend" tgt these differences become v real n apparent.

at the end of the day, i believe love crosses all boundaries. if parties are willing to accept and compromise w these differences, i don't see any problem w dating another race.

I am ok with dating other races and especially ang mohs which I am keen to date as they are the only ones that I have not touched thus far.

I am also ok with seeing interracial couples. My colleague settled down with her ang moh hubby and they are happy. And no, she is not Chinese

TS, ur question would be similar to asking wat is the pro/cons of dating/marrying a person from another country .

Some of the key challenges I can think of are:
1. Tradition/culture
2. Values
3. Mindset
4. Religion

Hving stated such, Singaporeans are becoming more and more westernized, thus, a nbr of pple from difference races has `lost' their `baggage' and hve more in common now. Thus, more inter-racial datings/marriage are happening.

Stereotyping of races were the bane of the past and is still happening but to a lesser extent. Each individual carries their own baggage, base on ur experience and interactions in the past as well as into the future; only u can decide wat's good for u.

I am not against nor agreed in interracial marriage, cos I am a Chinese and been married to my beautiful malay wife for the pass 18years. As long as both parties accept each other culture and dun bother wat other ppl talks. I find it ok. It's not what U hear outside tat deem mix couple will not live harmony .

I stayed in Japan for couples of years and frequent those international bars or events, and surprised that many young japanese now would marry races that you even have never heard before yet alone married to bangladeshi, pakistani or africans. Why are they so much more open minded than us?
Minister Dhanabalan is married to Chinese, there are Chindian population here and in Malaysia.
As long they are happy and dont put sands in your rice bowl why you bother.
Im happy that multi racial wedding is on the increase as we are in globalisation now, thousands years from now, everyones is so brown that you would not even know what race she or he is. Too bad, i wont be able see that day.

It's very immature to name call.How is it racist when I'm asking how people they feel about mixed couples?Interracial couples are prevalent in UK and US. But it's still a bit taboo in some parts. I am making an observation of our society. You can feel the xenophobia and the racism. My malay and indian bros definitely feel discriminated against sometimes when it comes to everyday things.

This is a social query. Cos yes, you should love whoever you want but there are always caveats. And in our society, whether you like it or not, not everyone is treated or seen equally. My question is about the struggles interracial couples face.

Social commentary helps us grow. You shouldn't just pass it off as "racism" which is absurd.
