A hotline number to Singapore telecommunication company M1 was reportedly re-routed to the Singapore Police Force's emergency number on Friday afternoon.

Channel NewsAsia reported that when they tried calling 1627 - the hotline number for M1 - around 2.15pm, a voice recording said they had reached the 999 police emergency line.

The Straits Times reported that several readers had informed them of the same encounter.

A statement on the M1 website said: "Some calls to our hotline earlier today were inadvertently diverted to 999. The issue has since been rectified. Please reset your handset. We apologise for the inconvenience caused."
