PRC STUDENT IN S'PORE JAILED FOR ABUSING HOUSEMATE, BLACKMAILING HER WITH NUDE PHOTOS Post date: 10 Feb 2015 - 1:13pm A PRC teenager who poured a kettle of boiling water over her flatmate because she was unhappy with the standard of the household chores, was sentenced to 3 months and 1 week in jail. The Judge had called for a pre-sentencing report to see if the girl was suitable for probation but since she was not resident in Singapore and didn't live with her guardian, it was found unsitable and she was jailed instead. The teenager, Long Yan, then aged 16, was a PRC Student studying in Singapore. She poured boiling water over her flatmate after she was angry that the victim didn’t do the house chores well. Long admitted to criminally intimidating and hurting her victim. The victim, another 16 year old PRC girl, ended up with first degree burns on her shoulders and back and she was so traumatised that she returned to China after lodging a police report. Long had also taken nude photos of her flatmate and threatened to circulate them if she did not listen to her. The two girls lived with about five other PRC students at a flat in Toh Tuck Road but the incident had happened on June 7 2014 when the other tenants had returned to China. The victim had been doing housework including sweeping and mopping the floor at about 9pm that evening but Long was not happy with the standard of the work and she scolded her victim and hit her with a mobile phone. Later, she asked her to boil a pot of water and alert her when it was done. She then took the boiling water and poured it over the victim. That night, Long also took naked photos of the victim as she had done on previous occasions to threaten her. Long's lawyer said that because of the case, her school had terminated her student pass. Long has also had to remain in Singapore since the incident. For voluntarily causing hurt with a heated substance, Long could have been jailed for up to seven years and fined. She could have been jailed for up to two years and fined for each of two counts proceeded with of criminal intimidation. Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
