Foo Kiat Geng assaulted the 17-year-old girl, leaving her with a broken nose, facial swelling and bruises.

The swelling on her face was so bad that she could not open her left eye.

The incident happened on Dec 29, 2013, at Foo's flat in Tampines just as the couple was about to have dinner, reported The Straits Times.

Shouted vulgarities, told her to leave

The pair got into an argument because she had a headache and did not appear cheerful.

Foo started shouting vulgarities at her and told her to leave.

As she was packing her things, she tore up a photo of the two of them.

This angered him, and he punched her in the face.

Foo continued to punch her in the head and kick her in the stomach as she fell onto the floor. She tried to stand by leaning against a cupboard, but he continued the assault.

He eventually stopped and asked her to leave.

Told her he still loved her

The girl was initially unwilling to do so as she still harboured feelings for him. But her pain intensified after a while and she called her mother to come and get her.

As she was leaving, Foo asked her to return and said he still loved her.

When she refused, he ran out into the corridor and kicked her again in the stomach.

He also threw her belongings, including her wooden guitar and some cosmetics, from the seventh storey onto the ground.

The police were called around 9pm, and the victim was taken to Changi General Hospital.

Foo was jailed for six months for beating up his girlfriend, and six weeks for throwing her guitar from a height. The sentences are to run consecutively.
