SINGAPORE: Seven in 10 students from Nanyang Technological University's (NTU) graduating class of 2015 have found jobs before graduation, according to a preliminary survey of more than 5,000 graduates conducted by the university in July.
NTU said on Monday (Jul 27) that many of its students received job offers after taking on internships with organisations, while others have taken on overseas postings. Some, however, have opted to become entrepreneurs.
More than 8,600 students will receive their bachelor's and higher degrees this year. They will receive their degrees at 18 convocation ceremonies from Monday till Aug 3.
The first ceremony saw more than 280 students receiving their degrees, including those from the school of aerospace engineering, as well as business and accountancy. President Tony Tan Keng Yam presided over the ceremony.
The ceremony also saw NTU conferring the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters on Emeritus Professor Haresh Shah of Stanford University, in recognition of his significant contributions to the university and higher education and research. He had stepped down from the varsity's Board of Trustees from Mar 31 this year.
