60-year-old man robbed in his own garden


KUALA LUMPUR: A 60-year-old who was busy gardening was caught off guard when two men barged into his house, snatched his necklace and pulled him into a car in Jalan Api-api, Kepong here, earlier today. In the 8.30pm incident, two men approached the man while pretending to be asking questions before they held a parang to the victim's neck and grabbed his necklace worth about RM2,500.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner R. Munusamy said after snatching the necklace, they then dragged the victim to their car, inside were two men in masks. They then drove off and dropped the man near a church. "The robbers then dropped the victim off near a church in Jalan Kepong Baru. The victim did not sustain any injury.

"Police are still investigating the closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) footage at the victim's house and reviewing the footage to get image of one suspect who was not wearing mask," he said in a press statement today. Munusamy said based on the CCTV footage, the suspects were believed to be using fake vehicle registration number and police are tracking down a grey Toyota Vios with registration number WMC 7885. The case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 of the Penal Code for robbery and armed robbery.
Police also urged those witnessed the incident to come forward or contact the nearest police station or Sentul District Police at 0340400782.
