Flight SQ336, which departed from Singapore, was diverted “as a result of a technical issue with one of the aircraft’s four engines”, said the airline’s spokesperson. There were 311 passengers and 27 crew members on the flight. It was originally scheduled to arrive in Paris at 7.10am (2.10pm, Singapore time) but instead arrived in Dubai at about 4.20am (8.20am, Singapore time). “As engineers on ground require time to address the technical issue, a replacement aircraft is being deployed to Dubai to transport passengers to Paris,” added the spokesperson. The flight is estimated to depart Dubai at 4.20pm (8.20pm, Singapore time), and is expected to arrive in Paris at 8.40pm (3.40am, Nov 30, Singapore time), about 13-and-a-half hours behind schedule. This latest incident comes on the back of another engine incident with SIA’s low cost airline Scoot. On Saturday, passengers onboard Flight TZ001, from Sydney, heard a loud sound and saw sparks fly from the engine on the plane’s right wing, when they were about 40 minutes from Singapore, Reuters reported. The flight "encountered an incident during the descent into Singapore which necessitated a shut-down of the right engine", Scoot said when contacted. There were 338 passengers on the plane. "The aircraft landed as scheduled without incident and fire services subsequently confirmed that there was no engine fire. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation," said Scoot. "Safety is of utmost importance to Scoot and we will spare no effort to ensure the well-being of our guests." View all comments Tweet Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
