Thumbs up Chitchat Privatisation and Commercialisation

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

PAP had privatised the following:
1. NOL
2. SMRT
3. Singtel
4. DBS
5. SingPost
6. POSB

All the above companies belonged to SG and Singaporeans. But because of greed and wanting to make more money, the pap saw it fit to privatise these publicly owned companies. In the process, SMRT went overboard and sought more profits and departed from its core business of providing efficient, effective and affordable transportation. SMRT failed badly as a private company and was in danger of losing its mission and values. The rest is history and the govt rightly de-privatised SMRT and nationalised it back to SG.

NOL is a sad story and I hope pap learns from this debacle.

PAP had wanted to privatise PSA and Changi Airport but has delayed it.

Because of money, the pap had commercialised the following:
1. Meals for SAF personnel
2. Cleaning of parks
3. Transportation of saf personnel
4. Training of RSAF pilots
5. Higher servicing of SAF equipment, RSAF aircraft and RSN ships

By contracting out the above services SAF has lost many core capabilities. Will these capabilities be available during tension periods? Or will the contractors pack up and return to their homeland?

PAP has over privatised SG owned companies and has lost many key capabilities because of greed.
