Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

After watching these two recent games, Liverpool really needs to have a real finisher...So many chances but not a single goal. Sometimes I wonder why Rafa dun use Fowler in the big games??? Fowler is a big games player and he'll score goals if the chances goes his way... Very lucky to have gone through and hope in the 1/4 final they can starts to score goals again.

Quite ironic that the winning goal in the tie came from Bellars and Riise!

The misses in the last 2 games will affect our confidence. Hope we recover fast or we will surely suffer in the rest of the league and champions league.

Just woke up after a short sleep/nap. Bro, agree with u, we sadly and sorely need a good finisher, so many wasted chances, haizz. Damn frustrating. Was a decent write up in the STimes yesterday abt this, been said again and again.

It's quite ridiculous he is being blamed for the Barca goal. Why not the marker (was it Pennant?) who lost Gudjohsen and allowed him to waltz in straight on goal? We seem to have forgotten his saves in the first half at the Nou Camp kept us in the game in the first place.
Bro, good assessement. Reina is more of a "team" player in the penalty area, rather than pulling the strings and commanding. With strong characters in the area like Sami [now Aggie] and Carri, it works out well, solid back wall.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

I actually fell asleep... damn... but glad to know we are through...

In terms of GK, Reina is good, but everyone makes mistakes, but why blame the GK, we should have scored. There is where the problem is.

In terms of Sissoko... his job is in front of the defence. He tackles hard and runs hard, providing much needed cover.

His passes and shots are mediocre, but that's not his main strength. He gives the wingers and midfielders the confidence to attack.

He is still young, so should be given time. Same with Pennant, as an attacking force, he has potential, who should be given more time.

BUT we need strikers!!!

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Watched the match this morning. Was damn excited to see Pools attacking and attacking and not to mention, defending superbly as well. Why can’t we keep playing like that in all our matches? But as time went by, it began to feel like deja-vu. Is this going to be like last Saturday against MU? And sure enough, we lost by that stupid goal. Luckily, we still went through. Can’t believe that we had so many chances and still couldn’t score. This time we hit the bar at least twice some more. Rafa really has to solve this striker problem if we were to have a better chance next season.

My 2 cents on the comments on the various Pools players:

Reina – There is no doubt he did saved us on a few occasions. But, I am sure all Pools fans will also agree that Reina was saved his blushes on many an occasions from his trusted back 4. Where would we have been without our super dependent Carregher and Finnan? IMHO, our clean sheets came about more due to the defence than Reina himself. I agreed with one bro who blamed the Barca goal on Reina. He could have, and should have done better. To me, Reina doesn’t inspire confidence. Personally, I quite like the GK from Bolton. Recall he made many great saves.

Sisoko – I think he should just stick to his task of shackling the opponents and winning the ball back for his team. Don’t try to attack because whenever his is involved, the attack breaks down. And someone needs to teach him how to tackle safely. Like his yellow card today. Totally unnecessary. Mascherano is a much better option.

Pennant -- This guy is coming along pretty good. Will be a useful feature in Rafa's plans.

Cheers

i agree with you pennant is good, but sissoko hasn't been performing
well so far. he is till very raw and not much confident when under pressure.
he is still young and i hope he don't take long to improve his game otherwise
he will be warming the seat soon.

cheers

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

I still think that Sissoko is a big flop. He has no ball skills and has often got yellow fever, if not red fever with his careless tackling ventures.

Liverpool really needs a few fantastic strikers [like Robbie Fowler in his golden days]. Liverpool is not conceding many goals and yet not scoring enough to win.

The most consistent and dependable is still Carragher.

Thanks bro for the clips. Really great to see my heroes in action again ...... Made me proud to have made the single most important sporting decision -- ie, to support the Liverpool team my whole life. The clips really brought out what it means to be a true Liverpool fan.

Cheers
