Hmm such a quandry, to give the hardisk back or not. But i'd be more concerned if they did find Joe. i.e. Joe has your secrets and he's now a liability with nothing to lose.

I tried my best to change the topic, bringing Sylvia’s attention away from the hardisk.

I called Gillian and she said she’ll take a while longer at work, asking me to head back on my own. I asked if Sylvia’s hungry and we decided to grab dinner at the food centre near army market.

The 15 minute walk gave me a nice private period with Sylvia, come to think of it, despite knowing each other for so long, that was the first time we were walking alone to somewhere, someplace.

I tried my best not to bring up conversations that will be linked back to Joe or the happier times we spent as 2 couples but it was hard. The common topics I have with Sylvia inevitably revolves around family.

We ordered char kuay teow and sugar cane.

I could tell Sylvia’s feeling rather moody, who wouldn’t be when a hardisk of your naked pictures and videos were missing. I could not imagine the fear and the uncertainty she was going through. I decided to dig a little , trying to see if there was another part of Sylvia hidden beneath that still had a bit of optimism left.

James : So, what do you usually do in your free time ?

Sylvia : Hahaha, has it come to this ? haha,

James : I mean come on, I’m your brother in law , how would I know what sports or hobby you have ? haha

She laughed as she played with the remainder of her noodles.

She played along, knowing full well I just wanted to engage her in a conversation.

I was surprised when she started talking about what she liked, our conversation just flowed on smoothly, the awkward pauses were gone when we realised we both love to read, particularly works from similar authors.

Her eyes lit up when I brought up some of the scenes in a few books, telling me which one she though was her favourite.

Dan brown was one of her favourite but she had not read his latest yet. I told her I’ll pass her a copy as I have the entire collection.

We did not realize how fast time past when we were talking. I hardly remembered the part where we left the food centre and got to the train station.

I did not even realised we had board the train, heading back towards her place.

Only when we paused for the traffic light outside Simei Mrt did I realize that within that few hours, I found out more about my sister in law than I had the past few years.

I felt this sweet funny feeling like I was on a date.

First date.

Although we walked by each other’s side, we kept a respectful distance, but there was the inevitable bump against the arms whenever our conversation got too heated.

10.15pm

We got into the apartment and I called Gillian immediately to check on her. She said she’s done for the day but will hang around 15 minutes more so she can take a cab back on company’s expenses.

Sylvia and I went to shower respectively.

One thing of note was Sylvia still used her masterbath while I kept to the guest room. So if I happened to be in the room, I would see her coming out of the bathroom, smelling the fresh scent of her shampoo.

10.45pm

I was hanging around the living room as I planned to wait for Gillian and pick her up from the lobby when Sylvia popped out into the living area with a book.

She plonked down beside me in her pyjamas, a loose singlet that allowed me a flash peek of her bra and she crossed her legs on the sofa, showing them off again in her sleeping shorts.

Sylvia : Here, this one is good too.

I saw her bring out some works by Steve Alten and I immediately pointed out my favourite.

James : This one is so cool la, haha.

Sylvia : yah… I love his sci fi works. Sooo interesting right !

I did not realize it but our conversation took off again.

11.05pm

I got a call from Gillian and I told Sylvia I’ll be heading down to pick her up and she nodded before heading back to her room.

11.10pm

I got back into the apartment with Gillian and Sylvia came out to meet us with a mask on her face, waving to her sister as she sat down at the sofa.

11.45pm

I was about to sleep when the room door open and I saw the 2 girls come into my room.

James : What’s up ?

I felt my heart skip a beat as both of them got onto the bed and said they have something to discuss with me.

There it is.

I knew someone high above still loves me.

My fantasy of banging the 2 sisters is going to happen right when I least expected it.

Life is good.

I was barely lost in thought for a second or 2 when Gillian’s words brought me back from my dreams.

Gillian : Dear ar, Sis and I were thinking that it’s a bit troublesome for you if you are sleeping here. So we are proposing you take the guest room instead.

I looked at Sylvia and she nodded her head.

Sylvia : Sorry James, it’s just that I don’t want to sleep inside here alone but since Gillian is here and all my clothes are here too.

I told the girls I understand and I got out of bed.

Gillian : hey hey. Not today la. Start from tomorrow.

James : Oh.. what’s the difference ?

Sylvia laughed and got up, heading for the door, shaking her head at the same time.

Our eyes met for that brief moment when I realised that Gillian was not heading out with her. I felt my gf rolling over to my side as Sylvia closed the door behind her.

I looked at my gf and was about to ask her what’s the occasion when she answered my question.

Gillian : Dear ar….. I got a morning meeting at Changi business park tomorrow at 10.00.

I laughed and knew what she was getting at.

No point for her to head all the way to Biopolis only to head back to Changi.
She straddled me and removed her top.

Sylvia left my mind for a good 30 minutes of body straining workout, yet when the end is near, I pumped Gillian from her behind, looking at that same portrait of Sylvia in her wedding gown.

Somehow Joe did not enter my field of vision at all.

I cuddled up with Gillian and I felt the heaviness of her head on my shoulder as she slid deep into sleep while I lay awake.

My mind was trying to wrap around the situation I was in.

I was holding on to something that I was not suppose to have.

Sylvia thinks Joe was holding on to them instead.

Joe’s nowhere to be found.

I kept repeating these few lines, trying to draw a connection where I could make use of.

Stupid plans popped into my head, including one where I just wore a mask and try to blackmail Sylvia.

There was even one where I pretended to steal from Joe.

I began to feel my brain is failing me and I felt a moment of panic.

I would be dragged down by this if I would not come up with a suitable explanation.

After much deliberation, I concluded that Joe needed to be found and I decided to try getting him again the next day.

5th October 2010

Lunch time.

I dropped Joe an sms, choosing my words carefully.

James sms : Bro, Sylvia went to your place to retrieve her belongings and she was looking for the disk as well. What you want me to do ?

I was half way through lunch with my colleagues when my phone rang.

It was Joe and he wanted to meet immediately.

3pm

He called me saying he’s across my office and I went out to meet him.

The first thing I said was ‘what the fuck’.

James : What the fuck bro ? You wack Sylvia up ar ?

Joe : It was an accident, I just lost it.

Joe still looked human although I could see the weariness around his eyes. He seemed like he lost weight compared to the last time I saw him a few days ago. He smell like he could use a shower too.

James : You ok or not ? I think everyone needs to sit down and sort this out.

Joe : There is nothing to talk about liao la, look at me.

James : What happened ?

Joe said his debt is still spiraling out of control, he already borrowed another 12k from his parents and he’s planning to leave the country.

James : Your father in law is trying to get hold of you, says he’s getting a PI.

Joe shrugged it off saying that he couldn’t care less.

He gestured me over under a tree and asked me if the disk was still with me.

James : Of course. How do you want to deal with it ?

Even I could not believe the words that fell from Joe’s mouth, I felt a mix of anger and suddenly I despised him.

He wanted to blackmail Sylvia with more money.

James : Are you fucking out of your mind ? She’s your wife for god sake.

Joe : Don’t pretend to be a fucking saint la James. You should see yourself when I offered to sell you the disk.

James : Fuck you la, this is wrong.

Joe lost his temper and we quarreled in the middle of that busy street.

When he finally calmed down he said all he wanted was money to tide things over.

Joe : Can you spare a bit more ?

James : What about those you owe ?

I told Joe I was pretty tight too and the conversation came to an awkward silence.

Then he spoke again.

It felt like a man doing every desperate attempt and at that moment I really felt sorry for him.

Joe : James , really, lend me a bit more , last time.

James : Can we solve the disk issue first, how do we close this chapter.

I felt like punching him when the words left his mouth.

Joe : I don’t care what you do. You can sell it to your friends, charge people to view of whatever fuck, just … just…

He searched his mind for an answer before throwing out a figure, trying his luck.

Joe : Just pass me another 4k. I would never say a word. You can decide what you want to do with the disk.

I sighed and really scratch my head, I could not believe I was even having that conversation.

I told Joe that there was no way I have 4k and that even I find it hard to believe the words coming from his mouth.

Joe : Or would you rather pass me the disk and I do it myself. Think of it this way, I can get enough from Sylvia to repay you even.

I laughed

James : Bro, I be upfront with you, looking at the state you are in now, I don’t think I will pass you the disk. I donno what you will do.

We both went quiet for a good 2 minutes.

James : Where are you heading ?

Joe : Going to KL, genting.

James : Fuck man you got to be kidding me.

He just shrug his shoulder.

James : Look Joe, I just want closure and I have a proposal.

His ears perked up and he turned towards me.

You will pass the disk back to Sylvia. I will clean up the content and pass you the blank one before you leave.

He wanted to speak but I held up my hand

James : Let me finish.

James : On the condition we have an agreement.

James : that the amount you are getting from Sylvia is 4k . No more .

He seemed to be considering my plan before he agreed.

Joe : But it’s not enough to pay you still.

I told Joe to forget about it and we came to an understanding that nothing exchanged hands between us.

I reminded him not to play me out or I’ll reveal it’s a blank disk he was passing to Sylvia.

He nodded and I saw him calm down a little more.

Joe : but I have a problem James

James : What ?

Joe : I’m leaving Singapore tonight.

My mind raced for an amendment to the plan and things started falling in place.

James : what time ?

Joe : Overnight bus to KL. 7plus I think

I told him to wait as I went back into office and told my colleague I needed to smoke out for a couple of hours.

He gave me the thumbs up.

I took a cab back to my place in bedok and retrieved the original disk from it’s hiding place.

I powered up my pc and I plugged it in.

Joe stood behind me as I turned around and look at him.

James : This is it.

I reformatted the dick in front of him, my dick felt a tingling sensation knowing that I had another copy hidden in my stash.

Just to be sure it cannot be recovered, I maxed out the storage of that disk with the movies I downloaded, copying entire seasons on dramas and blockbusters onto it.

I returned him that old hardisk and he kept it in his pocket.

Joe : What if Sylvia wanted to check the contents ?

I was lost for a moment before I told Joe that you can always say it’s formatted, there were no copies left.

He did not seemed convinced but he did not say anthing.

I mentally noted this part in my brain to come up with a contingency.

Joe : James , can spare $400 first ?

I gave up reasoning with him and said I will pass him only $200, that’s all I can spare and he eagerly agreed.

James : I’m going to call Sylvia, tell her I found you. She’s going to call you, and you tell her whatever you want to say about the money and the disk.

Joe nodded his head and he requested I drop him off with the cab at beach road.

I called Sylvia on the cab, telling her I found Joe, asked her to call him immediately.

I felt a heavy weight lifted off my chest as the matter is coming to an end.

Immediately Joe’s phone rang .

Joe : Helloe. Yah.

The replies were mono syllabus , awkward and uncomfortable.

Joe : I need money dear.

I could not believe he had the cheek to address Sylvia in that manner after what happened.

Joe : I need 4k.

I waited with baited breath as I hoped Sylvia would just accept it and close this chapter.

Joe : I’ll pass it to you when we meet.

As the cab pulled up closer to lavender, I breathe a little easier, knowing that it will be over soon.

Then as I saw an advertisement for Genting, I quickly grabbed Joe hand and ask him to hang up.

He was caught off guard and he hung up.

Joe : What , what happened ?

I considered my reply and chose my words, forming them in my mind.

I paid the cab fare and we got out along golden mile.

James : Tell Sylvia you want to deal in genting.

Joe : Why ?

I fumbled for an excuse before adding

James : She’ll bring her dad along and bury you in some training ground if you are here.

It seemed to have struck some reason and Joe immediately picked up the call from Sylvia again.

Joe : I’m leaving for Genting tonight, I can’t wait. Can you meet me there ?

I crossed my fingers and prayed.

Joe : Ok. Bye.

Joe nodded his head and I felt an erection stirring again.

James : Ok, if possible, I’ll get Gillian and Sylvia and we’ll all head over together, so their dad won’t suspect anything is wrong.

James : If Sylvia were to travel alone, alarms would sound.

Joe agreed with my reasoning and we parted ways.

It was a gamble.

A huge gamble.

For one I do not know if Sylvia would tell me of this arrangement even if I asked.

7.30pm

I was about to head for the train when my phone rang.

It was Sylvia

Sylvia : James , are you still around Tanjong pagar ?

James : Yup. What’s up.

Sylvia : I’m here too, can you spare a moment ?

I gave her directions to my office as I set my bag down, pretending to work even though I was the last one in office.

Sylvia joined me 10 minutes later and we sat down at the pantry.

James : How is it ? everything ok ?

I saw her hands wrapped around the glass of water I offered her and she spoke in an unsure tone.

Sylvia : Joe’s leaving for kl tonight.

James : Oh, then how ? He’s going to return you the disk ?

Sylvia : He wanted 4k.

James : Oh my god.

Sylvia : I don’t mind paying but he wants me to go meet him in genting.

James : What ? You’re kidding.

She was silent for a moment before I added.

James : You know what Sylvia, there’s no way I’m letting you go there on your own.

She smiled, almost embarrassed.

Sylvia : I’m sorry to keep troubling you James but you are the only person who knew about this.

I told her I understand and that since Joe is agreeable to deal, we can get this sorted out within a few days.

I asked her when she intended to go but she had no idea.

Sylvia : Gillian and I had never been to genting.

Sylvia : But I don’t want Gillian to know about this because she will tell daddy for sure.

I nodded and my mind started to churn out a plan.

James : Tell you what, we’ll say we’re travelling for work.

James : I’ll check out the tickets and all and get back to you.

Sylvia nodded and said she’ll pay for all the cost incurred.

I told her to give me a moment as I packed up and I left work with my sister in law beside me.

As we squeezed into the pack train at Tanjong Pagar, my mind started to think what can I accomplish at the mountain resort in Genting.
