I didn't marry the person I loved, I married the one I can live with
the one I loved, kept breaking my heart, cheating, lying, was selfish, self centred, but I felt the most for her, hurt the deepest for her, make me feel small, and that the whole relationship was about her and her needs. so I chose the one that I could live with and have some peace in my life life is not just about my feelings and what I want. there are other obligations I need to focus on too. My parents, my career, my loved ones who love me I love the one who didn't love me, but loved herself, so I married the one I could live with and still have my dignity and part of myself.

Because if sex and love is the only rewards than you're missing the subtext of what makes relationships function better. As freeze already said, it requires you to shift your mind and not get lazy. Because similar to work if you get lazy - you get no rewards and indirectly you don't learn anything new to push yourself; which is indirectly bad not just for work, but for marriage. Romance is something that starts in the mind first, not in your pants (even if you're married). I'm not saying it's easy - but I'm suggesting why it's easier to look elsewhere and say 'this is how life is'. Bullshit, I don't believe that. You create your own circumstance, especially when there's a word called 'divorce' or you can quit from your job; regardless of what your responsibilties are. For your own sanity (and quite possibly for the sanity of your partner), if things don't work out, at least draw up the courage to leave and start a new - but please don't go through the same cycle as freeze mentioned.
