luckily i have the habit to bring along my passport everywhere i go, to save all this unnecssary problem and troblem.

Hmmmm this coming 27feb I be going to pattaya . My first trip there as I only been to Bangkok and Phuket ( long long time ago )

The authorities are clamping down on overstayers. It is under the law that tourist should carry their passport or copy with them everywhere they go. If they fail to produce such identification during a check, they can be fined up to THB 2,000. However on normal circumstances, you will be hauled to police station and only be released till someone brings your passport to the station for verification.

Long term residents, Thai driving license will not be acceptable if the check is specifically for your visa validity.

Anyone travelling out of the province where you reside for more than 24 hours is to bring along your original passport with you as well.

Yup been carrying my passport everywhere I go lately ever since I was rounded up the other day. Most of these checks normally at night or nightspots. Would not want to be hauled up to station while on my way out to have fun. Bros do take note.

Always carry your passport along with you.

A lot of instances the police just want to shake you down for money.
