Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally

chelsea player of the yr 2003, gianfranco zola. source of soccernet:

<Former Chelsea forward Gianfranco Zola has emerged as an early candidate to take over as coach of A-League club Sydney FC after the departure of Terry Butcher on Thursday.

The former Italy international is currently assistant coach of the national under-21 team, but his contract with the Italian federation runs out in June and a move to Australia could be on the cards.

A spokesman for Zola said: 'This interest is genuine.

'He definitely believes a move to Australia is something he would like to do, and he feels he could help take the club forward.

'It's really up to the club to make the first move,' he added.

The 40-year-old and his family were hugely impressed with Sydney during their visit over the Christmas period, and it is believed the current crisis in Italian football has swayed him even more towards making a move.

And with his contract due to end shortly, he would be available for the club well before the start of the next A-League season.

On Thursday, a statement from the Sydney club confirmed the former England international's departure.

'Sydney FC today confirmed that the contractual arrangement with Terry Butcher as head coach of the club has come to an end,' the club said in a statement.

'The parties and their lawyers have had discussions. No further statements or comments will be issued or made at this stage.

Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally

CHELSEA, CARLING CUP WINNER

all chelskis, letz rally for our first cup.....cheerzzzzz
3 more trophies to go

taken frm skysports:

Chelsea had positive news regarding John Terry after their skipper left hospital and returned to The Millennium Stadium following his injury in the Carling Cup final.

The Blues defender was rushed to hospital following a sickening head injury in the second half of Chelsea's 2-1 win, but any fears of a serious problem have now been allayed.
Terry was allowed to return to the scene of his side's victory after his absence meant Frank Lampard was called upon to lift the Carling Cup.
The England skipper sustained the injury when Abou Diaby attempted to clear from a corner and only succeeded in booting Terry full in the face.
During a lengthy delay in play -with the Blues skipper lying unconscious on the pitch - medical staff from both sides treated Terry as a number of players voiced obvious concern at his condition.
However, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has now signalled his relief at the news of his leader's return after admitting the incident evoked memories of Petr Cech's horror injury earlier in the season.

"Sometimes in football, dramatic things happen," said Mourinho.
"This season we have already had the situations with Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini and the negative thoughts come directly to your mind.
"The first point is 'Is he safe? Is the man fine?'. John's wife, his little babies are here, so the most important thing is that the man is safe.
"John risked himself and the Arsenal player was trying to protect his goal. I have no criticism about that.
"There was concern when the situation happened but after that the information was coming in that he was conscious again and everything is fine."

Match-winner Didier Drogba - who scored twice following Theo Walcott's opener for Arsenal - spoke after the final whistle of his distress at Terry's injury.
"Today is strange," said Drogba. "We won and we're happy because we've got the cup but we are also scared because we didn't know what to expect when we saw JT on the floor.
"I think more about JT than the cup. It is difficult because he was one metre away from me (when it happened).

"We saw his character and this is why he is our captain and why he is the best."

hope our captain is really alright to lead chelsea to the nxt 3 trophies

Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally

Congrats on winning the Carling Cup. A strong 2nd half from Chelsea see off the exciting Gunners 2nd string.

Arsenal Again!! It's been said they are sore losers and they proved many right last night. Toure made a meal of the shirt pulling. Fabregas got himself involved again and Adebayor was mental.

Another was the Terry incident. He swallowed his tongue and his face turned into his team colour after his head was mistaken as the ball by Diaby. Poor Diaby was in tears after seeing Terry's fell and his head bounced off the ground! Diaby must have wacked Terry so hard that he injured himself and had to be subbed.

Hope Terry doesnt suffer any reaction and will be free from any injuries to take to the field when Man Utd go to Stamford Bridge.

Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally

today's newpaper say john terry is ok now and he thanked the arsenal medic who seemingly saved his life by clearing his airway so he could breathe again while he was still motionless on the ground.

thumps up to the medical teams, and screw those players who were fighting like gays while a player was so badly injured.

Terry was back celebrating at the stadium with his team mates within 2 hrs after he injured Diaby's ankle with his head!!

Anyone saw the Bridge-Eboue incident? Wayne Bridge fell after Eboue 'slapped' his head and the ridiculous thing was Eboue too 'collasped' after seeing Bridge's action.

Eboue is such an "SO", deserves to be suspended for 3 matches.

Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally

our chelsea man, alex has knocked arsenal out in the CL.

according to soccernet:

"The spectre of Chelsea hung over Arsenal's Champions League exit on Wednesday night with Brazilian defender Alex - a player the Blues part own - completing an 'horrendous' 11 days for Arsene Wenger."

"The 24-year-old was bought in a joint-agreement between PSV and Chelsea in 2004 with the contract stipulating he spend two seasons in Holland before moving to Stamford Bridge
His failure to play for Brazil has frustrated the former Santos defender's efforts to switch to the Barclays Premiership on work permit grounds but tonight he ensured Chelsea had a hand in Arsenal's Champions League misery.

'He's Chelsea's player and PSV rent him from Chelsea because he's still not allowed to play in England.

'We're proud he plays for us but know it won't be for much longer.

'He can play against Chelsea in the next round because he's at PSV until the end of the season.

'After that we'll talk to Chelsea about his situation. It was an agreement with Chelsea that he stays with us for the season.

'I think Chelsea will be happy Alex scored tonight."

din noe he was chelsea man

Re: Chelsea FC - Supporters' Rally

source frm soccernet:

Terry talks collapse?

"Chelsea chose not to comment today on reports that contract negotiations with captain John Terry have collapsed. Terry may return from his horror head injury to face Tottenham in the FA Cup quarter-final at Stamford Bridge tomorrow. If he is unable to agree a new deal with the Blues Terry could use FIFA rules to buy out the two years left on his current deal, which is worth a reported £90,000-a-week."

huh? cannot be. wif so much money, cant offer him a a irresistable contract?
dunno wat to do if he leaves.
