From where did u find 23k Thai gold is cheaper than 22k SG gold? Mistaken for 24k gold? If can find 23k gold cheaper than 22k, I dun mind stocking it up.

Thai gold generally is 96.5% so its 23k.

Our 916 is 91.5%. So its 22k.

999 gold is 24k gold.

Thats what i read in google.so pardon me if i am wrong.

Stocking up gold is for emergency. Which i had pawn before for emergency.

Now time is better, so thought to buy a chain. So generally, will ask if pawn, any diff?

It is very possible thai gold is cheaper than spore. Just like gold in spore is cheaper than india gold by alot.

Thats why smuggling gold to india is common practice and recently a news just came out that 3 men caught for smuggling gold to india.

If your purpose is for investment then you should buy gold bars (50G up) not gold jewellery.

The buy/sell spread for gold jewellery is unfavourable as workmanship cost is factored into the price.

not for investment bro. For own wear and of cos thinking if future need cash pawn in spore can anot? Cause i see gold shop only look at a marking on the chain to see the authentic of it, not doing some chemical testing etc. And i suspect different country have different marking. Hence my question. lol

Dunno whether u read my question carefully... U mentioned Thai gold is cheaper than SG... I am asking u where u found 23k gold cheaper than 22k gold.

I just ask in thai and compare latest price in bkk and spore. Just ask thai goldsmith to weigh, and i do a direct conversion. It seems cheaper even with the rate conversion.

If u understand the different between 23k and 22k, u will know the retails price of 23k should be higher but also u have to take note, if u buy same 22k gold jewelry with same weight but different shops, the price is different.

End of the day, if u can find cheaper 23k, then go for it.

Personally, investing in physical gold is always better than saving stacks of cash unless someone discovers ways to reproduce gold.

Since discussion about buying gold in Thailand.

Be very careful when buying gold in Thailand... I bought 2 gold rings in 1 of the famous gold shop with a lot of followers in FB. My gold rings came with yellow and rose gold but after a week, both rings, rose gold faded and became normal metal.

I made a big hoo haa at the shop and the boss apologised, explained and agreed to replace both rings.

Another incident, I had my amulet castin gold casing. After yrs, I accidentally knocked hard on the amulet and a small piece of gold came out of the casing.... I could see black metal inside.... so this "gold casing" is so called gold plated but sold as full solid gold.

Ya lor, that's why I don't invest in gold but instead I buy properties.....buy few condo and wear the house books on my neck, more hao lian than wearing gold chain leh
