I went into the lobby cafe for coffee. The conference organizers had been extremely kind to pay for all my meals and drinks consumed in the hotel. As I was sipping coffee and cooling down from the heat outside, my phone beeped. It was a message from Fon. Immediately, my mood brightened up. “Hi, how is your stay in Bangkok so far?” Fon asked. “Boring. Conference mainly.” I replied. “Did you do any sightseeing?” she asked next. “Not really. Just walked around the hotel area after dinner. Some of the places were already closed.” I replied. “Ah, yes. Temples close early.” she noted. “I got approached by people selling private tours, sometimes nice girls.” I continued. “Omg, don’t! They will scam you.” she replied immediately. “I didn’t. The girls were not as hot as you *wink*” I replied. “*Hahahaha*” came her reply. “If they were as hot as you, I would be very happy to be scammed.” I told her. “*Hahahaha* If you like, I can be your tour guide, so that you don’t get scammed.” Fon offered.

My mind was reeling. That was like a dream come true. “Wow! You are not trying to scam me, right?” I replied jokingly. “Oh... if you don’t want, it’s ok.” came the reply. “Oh no, that’s not what I meant. I am just so happy with your offer.” I wrote back immediately. I told her that I would leave a room card at the reception for her to pick up when she comes, so that she could come up to my room to wait while I showered and change. She agreed immediately, and even sent me a picture of her ID card, adding that “Hotel reception wants ID.” So, I went to the reception and told the staff that a friend was coming to see me and I wanted to pass my room card to her. Indeed, they asked for her ID which I showed to them and they took a photo of it. I quickly went up to my room. It was about 4pm, so I guessed I have about an hour before she turned up, since we were planning to go for dinner.
