I beg to differ, my understanding is that contract law has no place in divorce proceedings under the Womens Charter. TS will be at disadvantage if fight it out in court. Better to get himself a divorce lawyer to negotiate.

Very true. Notwithstanding the fact that the wife's adulterous behavior had caused the breakdown of the marriage, she can be screwing as many men as she fancy but it makes no diff to the courts. TS will still have to pay her wife maintenance for as long as she dun remarry. It is not to TS's advantage to fight the case in court.

TS can have his case publicised in the media but other than shaming the adulterous pair, it has no bearing on the outcome of the case. Can TS live with the publicity of being a greenhatter?

No matter how much they hate each other, it is better to renegotiate with the wife than going through an acrimonius divorce proceeding.

The Deed was draft by her lawyer than as i did not employed any lawyer. 3 years was up recently and I was informed to sign the consent for divorce based on deed of separation but was informed by her new lawyer that she wanted a share of the proceeds of the house.

Welcome to the kangaroo court system of Singapore. The interpretation of the Womens Charter by the Family Court here defies logic. There is no justice for the men here.

You are right. The entire point in publicizing the case is so as to raise awareness and attract criticism to the outdated and archaic Women's charter. There is a large proportion of the men in Singapore who are oblivious as to the existence of the Women's charter. Raising the awareness towards the Women's charter among Singaporean men better allows them to make informed choices. One way around the Women's charter is to cohabit instead of marrying and, follow a corollary, leads to a declining birth rate. This is an indirect stab at the judicial system which allows attention to be brought fourth to the state. Another possible alternatives is to enter into a prenuptial agreement.
Not only does this preserves one's inalienable rights, but it also frees one from all legal obligations. I would even go in so as far to say it avoids being trapped in the quandary with a women who abuse the Charter system.
No victim should feel the pinch of the social stigma when it is the case that the wife committed adultery.

The Courts did not specifically say yes or no they will base it on a case by case basis reading into the terms of the pre-nup agreement.

Get a lawyer, play ball wif them. Engage PI, break her down (legally). Unless u (TS) r those type of abusive husband who don't bring home anything n oni know how to whack children, i don't why u owe ur wife so much.

iirc included on the deed of separation is that both parties are allowed to seek find other partners . So Unless TS hired the PI and had proof of her infidelity before the signing of deed of separation . I dun think it will make much difference . Thank you for the other bros input on pre-nups in sg .
