I am still puzzled why DST kicks in early as in my first post.
Forumer first noticed that it kicked in on Sun 2:39am Sing time.
His post was done at that time but forum displays it as one hour ahead at 3:39am.

So is kickin time dependent on:

- First time zone DST +1hr forward kicks in, eg New Zealand is GMT+13.

- Kickin time is independent of where the PST servers is located, because if it is dependent, it is inconsistent with the forumer observation.

ps had tried to google for vbulletin DST bug but did not really find something useful.
In order to figure out exactly what is going on, the script that controls what is displayed has to be dissected to find out exactly which clock it is referencing and how it goes about working out when it should switch over.

It's hardly a productive pursuit since we all know it will come right within a few hours.

If it bugs you that much, I'll extract the code and send it to you for debugging.

Yes, I agree that our time can be put to more productive use.
I was just hoping that it is sometime simple like a config parameter or a setting change. I do notice that if I choose "DST corrections on" during the transition period, it actually advanced the display time by +2 hrs and not +1, double-compensation.

Just for the record, the transition period (where time is +1) happens 2am or earlier and got corrected by 7pm Sun Sing time, so it is 19 hrs or more. I personally saw that it was not corrected at 6pm but was corrected at 7pm.

It is glad to see you guys having thoughts on this issue. I will like to share my experience where i am at North Amercia Continent. My GMT Timing was -5. It doesnt really matter where the transition period falls in at anytime as long it does synchronize in hearsay couple of hours. Of all mine logging in this forum, all the timing displays falls neatly and crystal, that's about it. I will just be sure all postings on forum was display at my times but of cos if it dun then i will have a issues. I wouldnt understand my own posting dates, timing and those user cp rep system as well.

Fact is my profile timing was correct, thats the essential matter for different GMT user. I wouldnt want the default setting on GMT +8 , tats so unfriendly.
During my last winter storms, yes the transition period synchronize was bad cos our communications lines was disrupted, everyone else was so messy. Maybe we can see cats and dogs having sex? Lolx. But then after couple of weeks, everything was put in order then is okay. Matter is i dun have any issues on this daylight savings timing at all thou it falls in together couple of hours later ritefully. Essentially was the display time in the forum was correct on my ends whenever logging it. I hope this will give you guys some insights on it.

Good day to you guys

Re: Daylight Savings Time problem

Bro georgemagnum,
Haha, touching matters that are close to your heart

From my personal observation, answer is No, your upz/zap cycle is still exactly 24hrs from your last upz/zap even though the forum clock advances +1hr.

My speculation is that the forum system has many clocks, clock for displaying post time, clock for displaying User CP time, clock for your PM message time, etc.... and they may not be all in sync during the transition.

As for bro uberzone input, thanks for your data point at GMT-5 timezone.
The transition supposed to be kick in on Sunday 2am New York time, not sure you were awake to see it. U may login many times during the day, but if it ain't the right time, u may not see the transition.

Anyway, this is history now.

The next DST -1hr rollback will occur on 2 Nov 2014 2am New York time.
If u happen to be bonking, pls choose to start your 1hr bonking session at 1am, because by the time it reaches 2am, the clock will rollback to 1am lah... so u can tell FL haven't start yet and go another round
